I haven't tried skin brushing but what I love to do is get almond oil, mix it with light brown sugar and add a little vanilla - shower scrub! I need to make more - it does wonders on the skin and is non-toxic if a nosy pup decides to steal the closed jar and get it open.... LOL.

That sounds like a lovely scrub and I'll bet it smells good too!

I used the brush again a few minutes ago and took a pic. I cannot believe how wrinkly the unbrushed leg looks next to the one that I just brushed! I have no idea if the results last or not, but it's remarkable. If only I knew how to post a pic here....

Can't wait to weigh in and see how week 2 in ketosis has gone. I can say my clothes are all feeling quite comy, some even roomy. I am at the very beginnings of trying on clothes in a normal size shop...and a few things have actually fit for the first time in...I DON"T KNOW WHEN CUZ IT"S BEEN SO LONG! I get the sneaking feeling that ketosis is really working for me. I hope, I hope.

I do think I'll start a ketogenic diet challenge starting in a few weeks. How about May 1st? Sounds like a nice Springy date to begin something. I'll start a topic soon here in the Primal/Paleo Support Group. There may just be a few of us doing this, heck, it may only be me! I'll figure out a way to track our progress and will let you know.

    Thanks for reading! xxoo

Yay, another pound of me...gone! So far in two and a half weeks in ketosis I've lost a total of 4.2lbs. I'll take it! I can report I'm never hungry, never have cravings and feel pretty darned good. If you're curious feel free to take a look at my diary...it still shocks me that I can eat what I'm eating, exercise minimally (walking only) and still drop weight. Don't want to get struck by lightning, or jinxed by saying this, but seriously, what other diet has you losing weight when you eat the way I am lately? Monday in particular...22oz ribeye steak, YUM!

I started a new group for anyone that's interested. It's a 30 day Ketogenic Diet Challenge. Please join and feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like. Welcome in advance. As of last night we have 9 members signed up. Wow!

I'd love to know as well. There's some youtube vids about it, but it's not really clear. Some said you go into ketosis and will register so on the stix, but when you're getting efficient at ketoisis, it won't register anymore....really? I don't understand that, Maybe someone out there with more experience than I can weigh in?

This has been mentioned quite a few times on the marksdailyapple forums. I will see if I can dig up a post...

No. If you are ketoadapted your body is used to ketosis but you aren't losing ketones, you are using them. If you are losing ketones it may mean that you are not using them, especially if you feel like crap. Either way your body is producing them. Once you are adapted you can use ketones for energy and you feel great. You may not show anything on a test strip or have any other symptoms.

Thanks K! I was very light on the k-stick this morning...your explanation may be why. (Or it could be the hollandaise sauce yesterday at Manny's steakhouse might have had some carbs in it)

I posted a 30 day challenge for the month of May. It's a simple one, get into ketosis and stay in it for 30 days and see how you do.

Gratefully, another pound is gone! Not quite three weeks of trying this, 20 days to be exact. I'm so relieved to see some progress. I can so easily get down when I'm trying and not having any success. But because of all the support here from friends on MFP and the invaluable tools and forums, I haven't given up. Instead, I've tried to learn as much as I can about what works for me...and hope to keep learning for life.

Just so happy to see this weight start to come off by doing a ketogenic diet. It's so easy, so far. It goes without saying that the food I'm eating is very satisfying.

Starting weight on April 7th: 226.8
    Today's weight April 27th: 220.8

6 pounds gone by eating high fat, lots of protein and veggies and a bit of walking when I could

And another pound off today, for a total of 7 lbs in 21 days.

Today is the first day I haven't felt very energetic. I don't know if it has to do with my eating or not, but I was terribly sleepy during the first show today, so much so that I almost nodded off in the middle of a few songs. That is NOT like me. I seem to remember reading that at about the 3 week point, some people experience fatigue for a while. Supposedly because your body is really switching over to fat burning at that time. It's supposed to get better. I hope so! I don't want to feel dragged out for too much longer.

Yesterday I did a 5K, I think it was my 6th or 7th one. A friend and I kept a pretty brisk walking pace, 52:49, but I have to admit if she wasn't pushing it, I would have slowed down. I was pooped. Maybe because I walked about 3 miles to the market and back before the race, or maybe because of being in ketosis. Dunno.

I'm at day 27 of this 30 day personal challenge. I'm glad I've done this. My starting weight was 226.8. I went down to 219.8, but gained up to 222.8. I'm guessing the gain was either due to high calories or being my TOM. Today I'm back down to 219.8, which truly makes me happy. I'll accept this 7 lb loss over the month. Though I'm not quite to 30 days, this will probably be my last post as I'm borrowing scales from my friend and won't have access to them on day 30. (I'll keep working my challenge as it's parallel with a 30 day ketogenic challenge I'm doing as well)

Probably the best news from going very low carb has been my sugar readings. On Tues I put myself on a trial without my medication. I did this because I was experiencing lows two days in a row, and that was on only 1/2 pill a day. I promised myself I'd check my sugar levels religiously, which I have. So far every day since Tues has been NORMAL! The highest I experiencesd was only 109, still within a normal range. I'm averaging 85. I LOVE these results. One of my biggest goals outside of weight loss has been to go off the meds I'm on. Maybe I'm moving towards that!

I will keep a close eye on my levels and if they creep up, I will go back on the medication. But for now, no lows, no meds and normal levels. Yay!!!!

Today's agenda has a luncheon at noon, so eating could be tricky. I must say that it helps a lot that I've been keeping pretty strict Paleo lately, because I've been easily keeping away from the sugars/grains/processed stuff. Come on, salad and good protein!!

Hope all had a good weekend!
