Binge Eating

I have a HUGE problem with this....

I can keep it in check for a period of time, and then I kinda lose it....and when I do, it happens for several days in a row before I can get it under control again.

Currently, I have had a TERRIBLE last seven days....

I had surgery last Tuesday, and was really good and careful leading up to that, and the combination of worrying about surgery, and not being able to smoke cannibas for two weeks prior to, to control my OCD and thoughts has made a BAD combination.

As soon as it was over, it was like I lost control, I have WAY overeaten at least five of the last seven days, I am scared to even weigh Thursday when I go to the DR.

It was like, as soon as surgery was over, I wanted to shut my mind off a couple days and just chill. Which I guess would be ok for a day, but it is a week later and I am still stuggling to get back on track....

Who else struggles with this, and what kind of things have you tried to control it?

sometimes its hard to get back on track after a "slip-up". I just say okay you had your fun and now its time to get back to work. i plan my meals for the next day so I dont have to think or worry about it. seems to help me get back to where i need to be.

I distract myself, distract, distract, distract.

working out, cleaning, taking the dogs for a walk or playing with them, watching TV, reading a good book.. anything to take me away from the kitchen and the food.

I also have AMAZING roommates who hide their junk food when they buy it and who will eat my healthy foods with me so I don't feel alone in this.

AND... I show my food diary to all my friends on MFP, because nothing is worse than that nagging thought in the back of my head that I'll be judged for eating ALL THAT FOOD.... even though everyone on here is AMAZING... I use my own insecurities about being judged by others against myself to keep me in check too! LOL

I haven't found a solution for my binge eating yet, and unfortunately I do it every day (and usually more than once a day). I'm just hoping that something clicks in my mind that makes my goals and my health more important than the food in front of me.

I am going eight days in a row now, am seeing the DR today, mine is related to emotional problems, I think, so hopefully she can help.....
