YouTube Instructional Videos on Lifting

I have found some really helpful videos on YouTube that show you how to do squats, sumo squats, deadlifts, etc. Even how to use a Smith Machine. They have trainer Michelle Trapp (who has AMAZING muscle tone, by the way) performing them and talking you through each step. As someone who was a little intimidated going into the free weight area of the gym, I thought these were great!
Here's the video for Barbell Squats. You can move to the other videos from here:

Thanks for posting! I went through a few Michelle Trapp videos and she is really good at explaining proper form and some pitfalls of bad form to avoid.
I liked her dead lift video too.... this is an exercise where things can go very wrong without proper form: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hW36j9frZg0 -
Here's a video that shows how to do the Prone Jackknife. It's an awesome ab exercise when performed this way!

Tried this version of the Prone Jackknife today. Holy cow! They were really hard! My arms were shaking, I was dripping sweat, but at least I know I'm working!0 -
Here's a video showing how to do the "barbell Romanian deadlift/bent-over row" shown on page 182. I did them this way during Stage 3 (workout .

However, as coach Nick states in this next video, we are significantly stronger doing Romanian deadlifts than we are doing the row. So I am going to perform them this way during Stage 5 (workout .

AWESOME utube video if you are having ANY pain in your knees/back when squatting!!!! Somebody else posted this somewhere but I thought I'd move it over to this thread.

Thanks for posting this! I was JUST thinking about the deadlifts that I have to do tomorrow (Workout B; stage 1) and was already growing concerned with being able to fully perform one. Last time I had some guys help me out, but they suggested the smith machine... which is apparently the root of all evil so says the youtube general public (i cant tell whether it's a good machine or a bad one anymore!). These videos definitely gave me some variety and helped clear up the confusion.0

Hi,
I just watched the all of the "So You Think You Can Squat" on youtube. These guys are training to lift super heavy, but I liked the idea of seeing the failure in your form as a sign of what muscles are weak.
He recommends doing accessory exercises to help the squat performance. For example, if you are rounding your lower back you should work on "reverse hyper lumbar extension".
My question is, have any of you doing the program ever used an accessory exercise to strengthen a weak muscle group to improve the squat or deadlift?0 -
I haven't used any accessory exercises for that reason, but I may look into it. I definitely have a weak lower back, and have a tendency to get muscle spasms on occasion (super painful!) I'll check out that video. Thanks!0
