My 20% this week - cheesecake.

Had to share. I don't do much dairy at all due to a 15 year allergy to milk fats. That means I couldn't touch cheese, anything other than non-fat milk - my gal bladder would put me into convulsive pains as if I had gal stones.

If I ordered a burger and they accidentally put cheese on it, if I pealed the cheese off, I would still get very very sick.

Then a couple weeks ago, I decided I no longer had this allergy after 3 months primal.

I now have tried several different cheeses, ice cream etc.
mind you I'm not going crazy with milk because I have no real desire, but it is most exciting that i don't need to worry if someone "slipped me a dairy mickey". I usually planned on going home immediately after a big dinner because I would not feel well... How's that for enjoying a nice night out?

So last night I had some desert. I normally have a small piece of dark chocolate each night. This time I opted for a nice creamy fancy cheesecake.

So you say, whatever, they have entire factories of those things... well for me, this was my first bite of cheesecake in 15 years, and it was amazing. I'm sure it was filled with all kinds of crappy things and might even had some grains in the crust. What is most wonderful about being primal/paleo and indulging is that I don't feel guilty one bit for eating it. I feel awesome. Now back to some bacon for breakfast as penance.

For my "cheat" day, I will make homemade cream cheese and then make a homemade cheese cake, no crust. I make a fruit compote with seasonal fruit and then sprinkle chopped toasted nuts on top. AMAZING!

    Back on the wagon today.

I love eating plans where you have to eat bacon for penance. Also, I am eating roasted chicken and asparagus for penance today...LOL!

Primal recommends trying to live under an 80/20 rule. Striving for 100% is recipe for failure. Don't purposely crash and burn, but allow yourself some non-strict eating.

I believe the better phrasing is to strive for 100%, but realize that you will probably only get about 80-90%, and don't stress out that you aren't 100.
