CARB CREEP CHALLENGE

I should of followed my own advice and kept posting in this thread. I messed up totally at the buffet this morning. This is a valuable lesson that I have not yet developed “some aspects” of my mental thought processes and mental habits toward eating in a healthy way.
So, I’m back to posting in this thread with a focus on eliminating bad mental habits and developing good mental habits for my food choices. It’s time to start a new challenge for 6 weeks. I guess this should be called the “Mental Carb Creep Challenge.0 -
I got a good night’s sleep last night and am thinking more clearly today. Another challenge is not what I need at this point. Our low carb group has a thread called “Favorite Motavational Quote” that is more in line with what I need. I need to learn how to prevent my overeating from getting started. I was even thinking of a notebook with quotes, inspirational messages, etc., and maybe add one in the notebook for every day of the year. While that would be a challenge, it is off topic for this thread.0

it sounds to me like you're just being human Connorene! Maybe you just need to embrace that from time to time, as long as you can get back on track again. Allowing yourself to eat a little more when you are eating socially can still be incorporated into the plan. I haven't found a way to avoid eating wrong things at buffets either, so maybe limiting the quantity, logging it as closely as you can and cutting back the next day to compensate are the only ways to overcome this. maybe we're just not designed to be perfect!!0

This sounds like a plan to me vonnywalf. I know mfp helps me to keep things under control knowing that I am recording the food I eat everyday.0

For me junk food has not been my problem since going cold turkey on the stuff Oct 2014. My issue is eating too much of good stuff. I love almonds and this morning my 1 oz turned into 3 oz while at the computer so that is 18 carbs+ before sunrise.0

I've been doing Induction for 25 days now. I am 62 and have seen a loss in both pounds and inches. I'm also doing 30 day shred and other exercise. the biggest problem I have had is a lack of energy in the first week. I am a regular exerciser so that was different for me.
For your six weeks you will be facing the holidays. Have you decided how to handle that. For me I had two planned social events where I knew that low-carb would not be an option. I decided to just go with the flow rather than cancel my fun. It didn't seem to bother my progress.
If you have done Atkins in the past but haven't looked at the new book you might want to pop over to atkins .com. Two things that have changed is that your protein amounts are suggested at 4-6 oz per meal, instead of unlimited. The other thing is calories are 1500 or so.
It is pretty easy to stay in the carb range eating fresh veggies for your carbs and counting net carbs not total carbs. On my food diary I set carbs and fiber so I can count net carbs. I also weigh and measure everything right now until I can get a better idea of serving size.
Keep us posted on how you are doing. I found that after the first week my carb cravings were gone and I have to really be careful to make sure I eat enough calories!!
Feel free to add me as a friend.
Can you tell me how to set my diary for net carb counts? Right now I have to figure it out myself
TIA,
Andrea.0
