5.5 Miles today (monthly total 14 miles) less than I had hoped for, but had a late start and didn't quite beat the heat.
Just read this in the August 2012 Issue of Runner's magazine, about heat and weather:
Interesting results from a 2011 study of cyclists that were performing in 89F (hot) and 71F temperature. The study found a that there were a difference in performance only if they athletes 'knew' that it was hot or not (in one experiment they fixed the thermometer to read 79F regardless of the real temperature, and when it was 'fixed there was no difference in performance whether they cycled in 71F or 89F temperature.
Lesson learned: fool your brain to believe it is cool. (:0 -

7/7 = 5.6 miles -- My LSD run for the week (ramping up for a half-marathon in late September). Extremely light drizzle made the run relatively easy. Ran the loop in the opposite direction i would normally run & added in a ton of side streets. Took a wrong turn at one point :grumble: , so ended up running a cul-de-sac that i hadn't planned on running. Oh well
My planned 5-miler turned into a 5.6 miler
Still felt pretty good at the end, so hooray for me
