I think I'd like a sweater in fingering weight. I can't bear the thought of callus my finger would get if I tried to make one now! I've done a few on size 5 needles, but it'd be nice to have a tighter knit. Does anyone use a knitting machine?

I will make a pullover with cables up the arms and down the front. They make me look way to big right now .

I'm new here, sorry for waking up an old thread, but this is an awesome question!

    I'll make this first:

I don't care if it's in style. I just really want it.

    Then maybe this:

    I can't wait :)

I made a sweater that is too small for me. I would like to lose some weight so that i fit in it. Than I'd like to make more sweaters and tops.

When I reach my goal weight I would like to make a crocheted dress. I have adored tham for awhile and I have not made one because I feel I would look pregnant in it!

Ok, so all this crochet talk has me in the mode to make me something... I have lost 14 lbs (7 before mfp) so far. I am not totally crazy though. After all that work I am going to make it with an elastic waist band that I can adjust down a bit WHEN I need to.

Oh, I am mkaing this: http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/us/pattern.php?id=4407&lang=us

Thanks! I love crochet! I have taken a knitting class, but as I cannot work it up as easily, I have not really fallen in love with it...yet.

It's funny how that works, once you can do one... I've tried to teach myself crochet from a book and youtube but can't for the life of me get the tension right. If I don't end up cutting off circulation to my fingers, then my first row looks more like macrame, all hard little knots.

I really want to learn though, and now have a friend who is willing to teach me. If I could just whittle down my UFO list a little first... All I need is to add one more project to that list. I've watched people crochet afghans in a couple weeks or less, I'd love to be able to turn stuff out that fast.

I actually do not wrap the yarn around my fingers, but place it in the crook of my little finger and ring finger, then hold it between my forfinger and thumb...works great for me. Getting the tension right is all about relaxing and practice. With crochet it is better to have big, loose stitches than tight. That is one bid difference, if the stitches are too loose, they will NOT fal off the hook! LOL

Oh dear, where to start, lol.

Tubey (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTtubey.html) - I would love to have the body shape to wear Tubey, I love stripes.

Dahlia (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTdahlia.html) - I was looking for this everywhere but calling it everything from Delia to Delilah (ugh). I just love the way it's shaped.

Arwen (http://www.kategilbert.com/p_arwen.html) - Looks like it would be too much yarn to make this for myself now but I've been in love with this forever!

Oooh, such an interesting thread. I have thought about this time and time again. Each year Winter rolls around and my family all have tonnes of knitwear. I am left wearing a store bought whatever because I would never knit myself anything that required miles and miles of yarn. You know, I wont even let myself look at things I'd like to make until I get to goal (or final) weight. Then it will be fingers on fire to get a pile of gorgeous things into the wardrobe :)
