Completely new to Dukan and a couple of questions?

Hi everyone, I'm new to Dukan, just started my first day today and I think it's been okay but I am confused about a couple of things if anyone could offer some advice?

Firstly the oat bran, does anyone know how much the 1.5 tbls weighs? I'm a little anal about these things and want to ensure I am doing it right!

Secondly, is low fat cottage cheese with onions and chives okay? I read that onions as garnish was okay on attack phase.

I've bought some yeo valley low fat natural yogurt (not no fat), is that okay?

I've read some people have made things like mince or chilli, how is this possible with no sauce or am I missing something?

Thank you in advance and thanks for sharing all your successes too they are so inspirational, I hope I can get there too!

    Hi Hksteph,
I can´t help you a great deal but for what it´s worth:
    I think 1.5tbls of Oatbran is 22.5grms

I actually only buy the FF yogurts as they´re easy to find but I do use a 2% fat cottage not sure if I should , but I have trouble finding any lower and it doesn´t seem to be interfering very much.
I reckon that the chives and onions will be ok. I ´ve seen in the book that it´s ok to use that sort of thing in small quantities such as for garnish.

Don´t know about the yeo valley yogurt.

I make a mince /chilli whatever without sauces. I only do them on PV days though where I can add mushrooms, tomatoes, onion, garlic etc.

Good luck with this. I have to say that although I wasn´t too enthusiastic at the idea of giving it a go I´m finding it quite easy and getting results.

    Hi Cath,

Thanks so much for your reply! Really helpful. I've weighed this morning and 2lbs down already so it's a good start! How is your coming along?

I think I'm going to keep to home prepared food for the attack phase for fear of getting it wrong for now, I'm hoping to lose two stone in total so I'll try more variety once I'm in cruise phase.

Thanks again for your reply! And would love to see how you get on too!

    Hello Steph,
    Sorry didn´t see your reply.
I think the home prepared food is a great idea. Yesterday for eg I grilled a biggish chicken breast for my lunch whilst I was getting ready for work and I just had that sliced and cold. I have to say I was full all afternoon.
It was quick, easy no fuss.

Yep, keep up with the variety when you´re in cruise phase it´s really going to help sticking with the diet. I guess it just needs a little adapting and planning for the PV days but I´ve found it´s certainly worth it.
I didn´t have very much to lose but I can tell you that I´ve been "trying " to get back to the weight I am now for around 5 years and I haven´t found it very difficult to stick with at all.
It helps that at the moment my husband is working away and I´m doing very little socialising but I have found on this that I don´t really have the hunger or the cravings I normally have.

I hope you´re feeling ok and getting some good results.

I've made a "chili" for my PP days that's been pretty good... Just add meat to the crockpot with chili powder, minced garlic, cumin, cinnamon, oregano and salt/pepper. The juices from the meat combine with the spices to make a nice "sauce". You can Google recipes for Chile Colorado to get an idea of quantities.

Thanks Cath, and good luck to goal!

Thanks for the tip photorific, will definitely try that out!

I'm rounding off the last day of attack today so can't wait to see how I have done in the morning! I wonder if you can carry on on attack for longer than they say?? I am nervous the loss will drop off as this is all in aid of the wedding photos in Sept! So far 4lbs down and 23 to go! First appointment with a seamstress tomorrow for the dress, I hoped to be smaller than this by then but onwards!

How are you guys doing today on the regime?

    Hi! HK Steph -

I have been on the Dukan Diet since 12/31/11 and am on stabilization now. I can tell you that I did the on line Dukan Coaching and I kept loosing even when on Stabilization. I did "cheat" by loggin all my calories on lose it and I switched over to my fitnesspal in June.

One thing they recommend while on cruise if you start to stagnate just do more PP days than PV days - or have one or two attack days. I tended to do more PP days during cruise as I have to eat out a lot fo work.. so a chunk of grilled fish or chicken was pretty easy to get at lunch.

Really has been easy to stay on the diet - never hungry.

good luck with your dress fitting!

Thank you pkw58! I really appreciate it and great tips!

I am of course a little apprehensive but shall definitely add in those extra PP days now that you've said that (only if necessary of course). I'm having my first PV day tomorrow and it's amazing how nervous I am of eating veggies already and it's only been 4 days!

Thanks again for taking the time and I'd love to hear how you're getting on -

Good morning! I am wondering what your final loss was on the Attack phase @HKSteph? This morning I am down 1.2 pounds after my first day on the program. No doubt it is water weight, but I will take it. I found it quite easy for meal prep. last night because I just made rice and asparagus for the family and just ate the protein (chicken and trout) with a savoury galette. It was nice not to have to make several meals.

    Good luck to everyone!

Dr. D says all spices and herbs are ok to make food taste good. Also chopped onion as garnish are fine. I put a spoonful of pico de gallo on my scrambled eggs in the morning to make them tastier. Good luck! I'm in day 2 of Cruise and have lost 4.4 lbs since I started.

@gaspegirl - hey, great news on your loss! Keep going! I was so shocked this morning to find a total loss of 8lbs during my four days of Attack! I couldn't believe it! You sound like you're doing really well, it's so impressive that you can do this with a family to look after too. I'm quite lucky that it's just me for the moment (and my super supportive boyfriend) so I can just cook the one meal (though I do cook his carbs for him and just inhale deeply around them!). Well done though and keep me posted on the next weigh in,

Thanks Ginny for the tip! I don't have the book so I'm just relying on what I can find out online and these forums so all tips gratefully received! Thanks again!

I started Dukan a little over a month ago, and am down about 16 pounds thus far. If you haven't found it already, mydukandiet.com has a bunch of recipes available for all phases.

If anyone likes a more sweet tasting galette, I use a teaspoon of Splenda and some cinnamon for flavoring … tastes almost like French Toast :-)

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. I just wanted to add - I get real creative with the galette… and those receipes on the dukan website are inspiring!

Still holding at 4 lbs below true weight… want to lose a bit more about 6 lbs… only about 34 days till I hit the 4th phase!

Awesome job!! I think I've hit my first plateau … I've been holding at the same weight for about a week now, however, this does coincide with, well … a certain monthly and most unwelcome "guest" …

I always consider it a victory to stay the same during that week. Good for you!
