I was thinking we need to be taking positive steps toward healthier living and there is no better way then to set goals ~ BUT alot of threads have people competing against each other. I thought we could set our own challenge / goal and improve ourselves while encouraging each other! What do you think?

:ohwell:

Last weeks goal was to improve my caloric burn in the water. Up until now I have used MFP values for my swimming and I heard they are generous in those values and my efforts may not be as strong as the average Joe ~ SOOO I ordered an Heart Rate Monitor and I plan to learn how to use it and calculate more accurately what I am burning.

WELL I finally received it in the mail and now I have to figure out how to work it!! Once I do that I will work on last weeks goal!!

My goal this week is to stop beating myself up about exercising. I have a chest cold right now and I have asthma. I need to take it easy until it passes. Yesterday I felt better so I did a ton of housework and now I'm coughing and wheezing again. Ugh.

Sunshine- you will LOVE the HRM!! I don't exercise without it!
    Deb- feel better!!

I didn't do so hot on the exercise part last week. I got in a couple bike rides with my girls, but didn't do my running like I wanted. I really love the C25K program and want to complete it, but I am having problems with my IT band and until I can figure out how to stretch it out completely with my foam roller, I want to hold off. I did do Wii Active and some Wii Zumba last night. I really enjoyed the Wii Active. I may start doing that.....Either way, I want to be active at least 3 times a week if not 5 times.....That's my goal for this week!

Deb ~ I too have asthma and I know how frutrating it is to want to be able to do things your lungs are not able to do. I encourage you to rest as I have found that when I do rest and do "what I can" when I can ~ rather then push it. When I push it ~ it takes longer to bounceback. PLUS ~ if I push it too hard I always end up needing the dreaded steroids to recoup!! I hate them!!

    Hugs back to health!!!

Thanks. I am resting. I hate those steroids too. I become "evil". LOL I haven't been on them in years. My asthma is under control with Advair except when I get a chest cold.

Sorry you are not well, my asthma is really bad right now as well, I think it's the heat as I've never done well with it, it is the dreaded steroids for me right now, but at least they help and stop the even worse hospital trips. Feel well soon, we all have to learn to respect our bodies, I know it's not always easy. Cheers,
