Today's the Day

I wasn't planning on today being the day I quit smoking, but after going out for my morning smoke break I decided I was through. I gave my pack to a co-worker with strict orders not to give it back and not to let me bum. That was at 945 this morning. Almost three hours later I'm mixed. I made it through lunch so I feel a sense of accomplishment. That alone was three cigarettes I didn't smoke. Now to continue being strong for the rest of the day... One day at a time, right?

Keep going forward. You can do it! and remember if you fall off just get right back on the right path.:flowerforyou:0

Exactly! Also, since you're going cold-turkey I would highly recommend an app called "Quit Now." It tracks how long you have been quit, how many cigs you've avoided, how much money you have saved, and how much of your life you have earned back. It also tracks your physical progress in percentages regarding oxygen levels, respiratory function, nicotine dependence, etc. When I find myself really tempted for "just one" I look at my progress and think two things: 1) if I've made it this far, I can keep going, and 2) I don't want to throw this all away start all over.
Good luck! You can do this! Like you said- one day at a time. (And after the first few days, it gets easier. Most people say day 3 is the worst).0 -
Good luck
And remember. Each craving (and there may be 20 first day) lasts for about 2 minutes. And then its gone. I know it doesnt seem like it but it does. It goes so fast. Just get over each individual spell. And when you want one breathe in hard and feel the fresh air hitting your lungs0
