I consistently eat around 600 calories a day, but even then I will still find myself hitting a plateau for a couple weeks. The spike days are usually 2,000 calories, 500 over my BMR, and then I resume my normal eating schedule. After a day or so, I'll start shedding weight again. This is a very common thing.

I'm so glad someone actually does their homework. If we injected that ratio of ANYTHING into our bodies, of course we'd develop cancers and illnesses.

The wording was poor, but it isn't an entirely incorrect statement. Including a spike day/week has aided many people I know with breaking a plateau, including myself.

Of course it's not safe. You'll become deficient in nutrients and over time your body will show signs of malnutrition - hair falling out, lethargy, cracked and dry skin, eventual organ failure, etc. I mean, I'm not going to say eating 500 - 1,000 calories doesn't work. Of course it does, that's why gastric surgeries work…
