So sorry to learn about your back! It is sweltering here again, so I'm getting up at 5:30 a.m. to water the garden, get the chores done, walk the dog, and then do a "mega walk"...which is walking as far as I can within 30 minutes. Our son will be starting college on August 24, but only doing two on-line classes while…

Good evening, Plant Folks! A good day! I bought a Rachel Ray divided serving dish did half with potatoes, and half with a veggie medley and that's been my lunch/dinner...plus my family is gradually learning how great potatoes are...so a win on the stealth Mom nutrition front! Take care all, I'm grateful to have all of you…

Yes, we have friends whose son did a maskless spring break. Came home with "a cold". His mother and father both contracted COVID (they had been vigilant about staying in). His father died, at 52. His mother is still recovering and getting out of bed is like a marathon. I'm so sorry your family is ill and I'll be thinking…

Thursday, 7/16: 9641. A rainy day, but I did my mega walk in the a.m., and then ran up and down the 4 stories of our house!

I think what is going on with me is some boredom and irritation. I love my family, but oh my, I just wish they would go away for half a day so I could have the house to myself! Granted, no one can go very far...but oh, for 4 hours of sheer me time! I just discovered nutritional yeast! The bomb...tonight's dinner was a…

Yuck! My husband baked buttermilk biscuits and I had one, now I feel like cr@p. I can't believe that I used to eat flour, sugar, butter without a second thought. Of course, I usually felt pretty crummy, too. It takes a lot of my resolve to manage eating in a household with too avid bakers, but I'm going to do it! Just had…

7/15: 6712 I had intended to do more, but now we have a thunderstorm! However, doing a "mega walk" in the morning around 6:30 is working out well.

Happy Wed! I'm 15 days into McDougall and I'm finding that I like the Maximum Weight Loss program as a permanent eating style. It is fairly repetitive, but that seems to work for me. Finally got my DH to try cauliflower gnocchi and sauteed mushrooms...and even some watermelon (this is a man who lives on homemade breads and…

Got it! My daily goal would be 8,000 steps. I'll find that link! Thanks!

Good for you, Magic! That sounds like a big job and you're gettin' it done! I just started doing a daily schedule, since months have drifted by and I feel I've done so little. So, in addition to my eating commitment goal to write down the next day's meals the day before, I'm going to do the same with my daily schedule.…

SW: 148 Today: 146.8 I had gone as low as 145.5 this week, but did that thing I always do, and I'm going to stop doing: Said: Oh, this is easy, I can eat a little more. Well, NOPE!

Happy weekend! I have discovered cauliflower gnocchi. I'm not a pasta eater, but my husband is so the fact that I've found a pasta like product he likes and will eat is a big win for my family. He's also winning to eat non wheat pastas, so another win. He became a vegetarian long before I did, but most of his diet is…

Friday steps; 8,234 We had a massive thunderstorm Thursday night and the weather was unbelievably beautiful all day Friday. It was such a joy just to stroll...!

I've been rebuilding slowly to 10k steps, and weight training/pilates. It is incredibly hot here and only comfortable to walk in the a.m. or after sundown. I am doing 15 minutes of free weights/Pilates daily, and my goal is to add 5 minutes per week. I really miss my gym, where I went 6 days a week for an hour each day. I…

Got up at 5:30 a.m. to take our dog out before the weather got steamy, and there will be another walk after sundown. Really relying upon the simplest of meals, and lots of repetition. Yesterday I got my husband to eat cauliflower gnocchi, which is quite a feat....he has about 30 lbs to lose and spends most of his calories…

Got it. Today is 8425 Our dog and I were only at 6:30 a.m. today when it was merely 73 degree, by the time we got back home it was up to 83....so while my steps aren't impressive, figuring out how to get them in, is a NSV. Thanks for keeping me on track, Jessica!

So nice to have this community! Yesterday I ate like a fataholic...I'm not sure what was going on with me, but once I started I couldn't stop. That's one reason why I'm so committed to McDougall, I'm able to eat without creating new cravings, and I just feel great. So, today back to principles: Breakfast: Smoothie of…

Eating wise, this is a day I'm putting behind me. Steps: 7,200

Thanks all for the friends...it is so hot here I think my mental processes have melted! Today I'm going to stick to a schedule. I find a loosely scheduled day prevents me from eating mindlessly. And, oh, my I'm lovin' McDougall!
-
07/06: 4,200 but did do 20 minutes of free weights.
-
Blisteringly hot today, and while I didn't have birds in our birdbath, we did have some very happy hornets..so my mileage was pretty negligible..only 2,200 steps.

Sunday weigh in: PW: 148 CW: 147 My goal is one lb per week weight loss. This week's big win was I persuaded my family to give me one shelf in our pantry specifically for my food. I find if I have to rummage through "their" food it is much harder for me to adhere to my food plan..the temptation is too strong. Now, I have…

Steps, 7/04: 7,320 Sultry and sticky, but did it any way.

Mihani: I hear you! I practically had to wear PPE yesterday, but after 4 months my hair was just unmanageable. This is the longest I've had my hair since high school and I didn't know what to do with. This is going to be a 90 degree plus week here and I'm going to do my walks early a.m. and after the sun goes down. Take…
