  • I've have similar frustrations with my weight over the last couple of years. I was on weight watchers for a while and lost weight, switched to MFP and tracked everything almost to obsession and got within 5kg of my goal weight. I had a body composition scan to determine my body fat percentage and was told my RMR (resting…
  • I'm on 200mcg of Oroxine/Eutroxsig (weekdays) and 150mcg on weekends and managed to lose 20kg in about 2 years with 3 sessions of crossfit style workouts, 2 boxing sessions, 3 hour sessions of swimming and a pilates class. I also cleaned up my diet (less junk, more vegies). The only down side was that it got exhausting due…
  • Since it's stress that's causing you to binge eat these last few days I'd suggest addressing the source of your stress to begin with. Dealing with the symptom (binge eating) will help but, it won't resolve the cause. I've found that taking up a hobby like crocheting has helped as I don't want to soil my project with food…
  • I'm also a former WW member and left in 2014 for similar reasons to @kj26boys. I was sick of spending AU$35.00 a month to do the online program and while it did work for me initially I found that it didn't match my goals in the end. The WW goal that was set works on BMI rather than body composition so, my goal with WW was…
  • Yes. Rope slams come around every now and then in my gym sessions. They are definitely a great full body exercise to do.
  • :( I'm Aussie so, all of these new things are well out of my reach. We're also coming into a hot summer here (nudging 40C in the shade today) so, the idea of pumpkin spice and gingerbread at this time of year is lost on me.
  • G'day Ladies, I'm 37 and 82.6kg (about 182lbs) I've got 10-12 kilos to lose which is about the amount of weight I've added back to my frame since Easter. :-(. I've been Hypo since birth so, I know the struggle with weight all too well. Feel free to add me for a bit of encouragement and accountability from the other side of…
  • I suspect that you may not be eating enough to begin with. The human body has it's own priority system for the energy you get from food. If you're not eating enough, the higher functioning systems are sacrificed a little for the sake of survival. That's why it's much harder to concentrate on exams and quizzes when you're…
  • I love my oatmeal! In summer I have overnight oats with crushed pineapple, banana, chia and coconut milk, then I add shredded coconut for a bit of texture when I eat it. In winter I like it with dried apricots, chia, milk and flaked almonds. I don't add sugar though. I'm a bit curious about these dinosaur eggs and sugar…
  • Lots of good tips there. I sometimes eat a light meal or snack (yoghurt) before I go out so that I'm not ravenous when it comes to eating out or other social events. It makes it easier to resist the temptation of extras and make better decisions for the main meal. I also make an effort to eat slowly (chew each bite at…
  • Well at least you're not alone OP. I also suffer with feeling cold and always have to some extent (due to thyroid issues). It has become worse since I started losing weight though. I just make sure I have extra layers handy to cover up when I need to (even if it's 40C in the shade)
  • Welcome to MFP. I love a good yarn and like to support and encourage others on this journey. Feel free to add me.
  • Alternatively you can log it under strength but, you need to enter reps and weight. That's ok if the exercise is in MFP but, sometimes it's not. Then I just log it in cardio
  • There are a lot of variables when it comes to weight loss and every journey is unique. So, there's no absolute answer on this one :-(. In my experience the last few kilos are much harder to lose than the first 20 or so have been. It hasn't been a constant or consistent downward trend either. I think it is wise to be…
  • G'day all, I also have hypothyroidism (congenital) and have struggled with my weight for almost all of my 37 years. I'm currently nudging up the numbers on the scale and doing my best to get back to where I was before winter. The biggest frustration for me is that everyone else seems to be able to melt away the kilos in…
  • If you know that your diet needs work, that's a good place to start. Sometimes it can be a simple case of calories in exceeding calories out but, this isn't always the case. In my experience its possible to have a calorie deficit and still add kilos if the food you're eating isn't appropriately balanced (just as it is…
  • Just wanted to add that I saw my shallow selfish fool a few months ago (over 7 years after we broke up). A lot has happened since but, it was rather satisfying to see that he has gained the weight I've lost.
  • Absolutely! I had a similar experience with my last relationship. He said he wasn't attracted to me because I was "too big". I responded with "There's the door Honey. I hope you find someone that fits your long list of standards and is genuinely interested in you instead of your bank balance." He came back a few days later…
  • An interesting phenomena but, I have no idea if it is due to hypothyroidism or not.
  • I eat food that is past the use by or best before date if it still looks/tastes ok. I'll chop mouldy parts of cheese, and vegetables and use the unspoiled parts. I've consumed milk that was nearly a month out of date because it still tasted ok and only bin food if it's well beyond edible.
  • You've set yourself a goal that's a bit unrealistic for healthy weight loss but, it's definitely possible to make progress in the next couple of weeks. Keep tracking your food, try to get a good mix of your macros, fibre, water and exercise and you're bound to be feeling better. The big thing to focus on here is that…
  • I find keeping a record of how I'm feeling when I crave sweets helpful in identifying why I want the sweets. Is it because you feel tired and want a boost? Are you bored or stressed? Knowing why you are craving sweets will help you work out if there's an underlying issue that needs to be resolved. Like some of the other…
  • I don't have scales that measure body fat % so, I compared the result of the formula (I got 36.71%) with the body fat % result from the DEXA scan I had in February (25.3%) which is a variance of about 11.4%. Not sure if that helps or not though. It seems I still have a fair way to go.
  • I agree that the naturally skinny people have no business telling anyone about how to lose weight unless they're a professional (dietitian) and you're their client. I've received unsolicited advice and rude insulting attitudes from a few very insensitive people (fat and skinny) so I know how much that hurts. The best…
  • Thanks for sharing your amazing transformation. Your journey is truly inspiring and a much needed reminder to keep going. I'll get there if I work hard and keep track of the food I eat. Cutting back on sugar and carbs has been my biggest challenge lately so any tips you have for that would be appreciated.
  • I've been around the weight loss block a few times with varying degrees of success in the past. My current journey is the most successful so far which is great. I've managed to shift nearly 30 kg from my 5'6" frame and still have another 5 kg to go. The important thing is to keep going no matter what. Keep going when the…
  • Just wanted to say congratulations on such an amazing transformation! Your hard work is paying big dividends for your health and look great (fit, strong & healthy). Thanks for sharing your journey and inspiring others to keep at theirs.
