I don't know the cause of it, but overly greasy foods do this to me as well. It didn't do it in the past, but now that I watch what I eat, it's a definite problem. I even have to avoid most pork, unless it's been broiled dry.

First, please don't plan too heavily on losing X amount of weight by Y date, especially when you should only count on losing 2lbs/week (max) at your current weight. You can eat anything you like, though I'd stay away from foods I'm allergic to or don't enjoy. I, for one, am not the biggest fan of salads (what a lot of…

I tend to listen to audiobooks.

My MFP is set to sedentary, and I eat back all the exercise calls Fitbit tells MFP to give me. I lose according to plan, sometimes more. But you'll only know for sure how much you can eat back by tracking your numbers for 4 to 6 weeks. Be 100% accurate with your logging (weigh your food, choose the correct entries, etc)…

I've lost nearly 70lbs drinking at least 5 or 6 cups a day most days. Granted, I use Splenda and half-n-half, so my cups don't cost me as many calories. I'm not about that un-caffinated life.

I'm in the second year of my chemistry PhD program, so I totally get where you're coming from. At the beginning of my senior year in undergrad, I had lost a total of 96lbs (I had another 104lbs to lose beyond that). Then I stopped worrying about what I ate, since trying to maintain high grades for a bachelor's in…

If you're wanting to mimic the effect of soda on your body, be sure the object you're pouring it on has the same physiology as your stomach. Its corrosion of metal, for instance, has no bearing on our bodies unless you're ingesting metal. And the 'chemicals' don't sabotage weight loss. It's completely up to an individual…

OP, please ignore the posts by BreezeDoveal. They're trolling to derail the thread.

That makes no sense, whatsoever. Diet soda doesn't have sugar, and some have caffeine but usually less (per volume) than coffee. Craving something doesn't always mean that it's bad, you might just really like it and want more. I'm craving cabbage right now, most definitely not because it's been modified to make me want…

Thanks, but I actually meant the energy drinks themselves health-wise, not the incredible amount of caffeine I drink. I don't have any adverse reactions to caffeine, so I don't tend to worry about it.

You're going to have to accept a slower rate of loss, being so close to goal. You should eat more and aim for maybe a 1lb loss (or less) per week, depending on your current weight.
-
I really hope you're trolling. Like really, really hope.

Start back counting now. Not Monday. You managed to catch your regain at 8lbs, that's great! I didn't catch my last regain until around 60lbs. You didn't mess anything up, you just had a little setback.
-
That looks absolutely amazing, and after a quick google I'm now sad that it's not available anywhere near me.

Can you splurge on a yeti (or other good brand) thermos-type mug and bring coffee with you? That's what I did as an undergrad, it kept my coffee hot pretty much the entire day. Now as a grad student, I have my own office with a coffee pot on my desk so it's a non-issue. I still enjoy at least one redbull a day, though, on…

To add input from the other side of this matter: My mom talks about how my siblings had higher metabolisms than I did, because she fed us all the same things in the same amount, yet I alone ended up obese while the others are slim. What actually happened? I snuck food behind her back when I was a child/teenager. I'm the…

I count my steps as exercise because they are exercise. My activity level is set as sedentary, but most days I walk anywhere from 8,000 to 12,000 steps, and my Fitbit ends up giving me up to a 700kcal adjustment. And if I try to get away with not eating that adjustment for a few days in a row, I end up with terrible…

You've added this to at least five threads in the past hour alone. What's your reasoning behind how going vegan will help the OP?

You also get a food scale with your name embossed in gold. It has a proximity sensor that only allows you to get a few feet from it before it starts beeping.

Let me be clear: You don't get to decide what is normal behaviour, and make up definitions for OCD. I don't do the things you mentioned, because my weight supports a larger deficit and being off on a yogurt won't matter that much. But when I get down to a tiny 250kcal/day deficit, I may have to. It won't be OCD or…

You only end up eating less by stopping at 6 if you would normally eat too much by eating at both 6 and 9. If you eat the same thing at 9 instead of 6, you're not eating any more. Just at a later time. And that won't make you gain weight. And I agree that eating later can cause the scale to act differently in the morning.…

I'm the same height as you, but I've always loved my height. I can reach everything my short family members can't, I can find people in crowds, I can do so many things that my shorter friends can't do. Think about how awesome you are and how well we tall people can carry our weight!
-
It's your scale. There's no other possible explanation to a change in weight if all other parameters were exactly the same. Also, I don't see how your weighing hobby would be a problem. It doesn't seem to me that you're freaking out, actually thinking you gained weight, but are just curious about the change in number.

I don't think of meals as being "low carb" or not, I just eat what satisfies me. Sweet things, doughnuts, pastries, etc. don't satisfy me for breakfast. So I usually eat a huge plate of eggs with ham, cheese, and mushrooms, and it keeps me full for 4 or 5 hours. Sounds like the same thing you're talking about.

I don't do keto anymore, but your brain works just fine on it. Your body adapts. I found that I could stay in ketosis eating around 50g net carbs per day, but that number changes for everyone.
-
Same for me. I eat until the calories are gone. If I wasn't counting, I could probably eat double my current intake in a day.
-
This is exactly what I came here to say. I've fought binge eating for over 10 years, and I've been binge-free for 4 months now. I eat enough, get some walks in to be able to eat a treat each day, and don't cut certain food groups from my diet. It's worked very well for me.

Started at 368, currently 307. If it hurts you to do certain exercises, don't do them. I hurt my knees (only in my 20's) trying to do jumping jacks at my highest weight. That being said, I'm all for walking! I walk several miles a day, with my Fitbit encouraging me, and it's really helped. Good luck!
-
It depends on your weight/height on if those numbers are right. I weigh 307lbs and am 6'0" tall, and for 10,000 steps, Fitbit would cause MFP to probably give me around 700kcal. So the number MFP gives you is just to lose 1lb a week with the activity level you chose. I chose sedentary, so MFP gives me ~1700ish kcal a day…

I agree with this, 100%. I wanted a fresh-from the oven chocolate with chocolate chip brownie for breakfast this morning. But it was over 400kcal. Instead, I had a huge plate of eggs with ham, cheese, and mushrooms for around the same. The problem isn't that the calories will make you feel difference and give different…
