I have extensive knowledge in the chemistry field. I know that the laws of thermodynamics exist, and that mass cannot be created from nothing. Eating less than your body burns can not, without violating the laws of physics, cause you to gain weight. A claim violating that principle is fake science. If you've looked at the…

"The goal in Phase 1 is to calm down fat cells and take the body out of starvation mode." That line I pasted is directly from the website you linked. That is not science. Your cells are simply cells, they don't need to be calmed. And starvation mode is not a thing. Not exactly a good start when he's spouting fake-science…

Chemistry PhD student here. I really hope you're trolling, because I'd hate to think that anyone could actually believe something so ridiculous as that is science.

Yes, that's absolutely normal. I weigh daily and know that unexplained fluctuations are normal. If you find that you get too discouraged weighing everyday, you might want to change to weighing less often.
-
I eat up to maintenance when I feel like that. I had a few days like that last week.
-
Don't exceed more than a 1% body weight per week loss. You can sustain that amount at your current weight, but try to get in enough calories to not exceed it. I only weigh about 15lbs less than you, and I find that if I'm eating to lose 3lbs per week, I get headaches and bouts of dizziness after a few days. So I would…

I have 140lbs to lose, so I know where you're coming from about wanting the weight off fast. But, I started with having 200lbs to lose, and I'm still going strong because I don't make the weight loss unnecessarily difficult. I lose 2lbs a week while eating back my exercise calories. My MFP is set to sedentary, but 6/7 days…
-
You're already in a calorie deficit if you eat the calories MFP gives you. Eating back exercise calories doesn't make that original deficit magically disappear, unless you're grossly miscalculating something.
-
I log my weight everyday, but only to the .5 pound. Right now I still have a lot to lose, so worrying about increments smaller than that aren't my priority.

I'm a chemist, working on a PhD. So data and numbers are my life. What I did to figure out the answer to this question (in my case, it was if the exercise calories Fitbit was giving me were okay to eat), I tracked my intake, Fitbit-given output, and weight for 7 or 8 weeks. I made some excel spreadsheets and calculated how…
-
I don't, because I don't forget that I've taken them, and I don't take kinds that have calories.
-
I don't log the cooking spray I use to cook eggs every morning, and I don't log 0 calorie things. With the amount of coffee I drink, the length of my daily food log would probably double if I added it.

I'm throwing my voice in for the "it takes FOREVER to drop a size" club. I'm down 60lbs, still wearing a lot of the same clothes. Granted, they're mostly made of stretchy materials and they were probably much too tight when I started. But it's still disheartening sometimes.
-
Ketosis doesn't automatically mean you're losing weight. You also have to be in a calorie deficit.
-
I have 140lbs more to lose, down 60lbs so far. It'll take a while, but we can all do this!
-
I've been overweight since I was a toddler. I grew up with a lot of hormone problems (though they might have attributed to my being 6'0", so I'm not going to complain). I've actually never been a normal size, ever, and I'm nearly 27. I didn't care about my weight until I was in my late teens, though. Things probably would…

Diet Coke and Sugarfree Red Bull! I'm a grad student, I wouldn't survive without either.
-
From a scientific standpoint, it's not possible that I'm starving myself.
-
I ended up letting myself eat more the last few days. A week of eating at maintenance isn't going to kill my progress. Thanks, I love my N7 hoodie! It's probably one of my favourite possessions!
-
As I explained in the first post, I'm far from starving myself. At my weight, I could have a 1500kcal deficit to lose 1% of my body weight a week. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
-
It took several months until I could walk without the pinching pain in my back and legs. I did the treatment for a little over a year until I couldn't afford it anymore.
-
Quit fearmongering, or post your peer-reviewed scientific sources to support the claims you're making. I don't eat keto, but it's not inherently dangerous so there's no reason to try and scare people away from it.
-
I can only tell you what myself and many others who have done keto have found out. Electrolytes are key when you're doing keto. You can either give up on keto (I personally don't do keto anymore, it's too restrictive and weight loss happens the exact same on a normal, calorie-counting diet), eat a cookie to fix your…

I had to take potassium and magnesium supplements, I doubt you're getting enough from veggies if you're doing keto. For potassium, add a spoon of No-Salt to a glass of water to drink it. For magnesium, take magnesium citrate. Those both worked wonders for me, I got over the keto flu by day 4 or 5.
-
I spent a lot of money and time to have my spine decompressed, but it brought me from being literally unable to walk some days to being almost pain free. I considered it well worth the money.
-
I'm 6'0" and my SW was 368, CW is 308, GW is 168. We're really similar in stats!
-
No, timing of meals doesn't matter. I tend to eat right before bed, which affects my morning weigh-in sometimes. But that's just from water/sodium/etc. it doesn't hinder weight loss.
-
Weigh your food at home. Estimate your food when eating out. Literally no one is going to make you do either of these, but if you want to lose weight, they do work.
-
It's safe for you to lose up to 3.3lbs per week at your weight, 1% of body weight is generally accepted. That being said, if you feel week or faint, up your calories. I'm 6'0" and 308lbs, and even though I could lose 3lbs/week, maintaining a 1500kcal deficit per day makes me feel terrible, so I stick to 2lbs/week loss.
-
I rarely eat bread, but every time I do, two weighed slices are at least 30kcal more than they should be if I went off the label. If I ate several sandwiches a day, those calories would add up.
