And now we have an "aspartame is evil" post. Man, this thread has it all. I appreciate this entertainment.

There aren't drugs that make you excrete things without your body breaking them down for energy first. That's not how it works.
-
Repeat after me: Sugar is not a drug. Sugar is not addictive. Sugar does not cause weight gain unless eaten in excess. There is nothing wrong with sugar.
-
Brb, gonna spend the day eating a bowl of cornflakes while drinking "water".

Muscle doesn't magically replace fat. And if OP is in a calorie deficit, they're most likely not going to be building muscle.
-
This is an important detail. OP, are you underweight via your BMI? If so, that might be why people are showing concern.

I did keto for 6 months and lost around 40lbs. It was completely unsustainable for me, though. I enjoy eating carbs. So when I stopped keto, my eating was out of control and I gained it all back. Now I'm sticking with calorie counting, and I lose just fine with it since I'm still at the same calorie deficit.

I could get this dress in my current size, but my goal is to be able to buy a size much closer to the one the model is wearing.

Can you provide the scientific evidence behind eating smaller meals more often leading to an "improved metabolism"? And how not eating every time you're hungry damages your BMR? What's your scientific backing for "training your metabolism"? Also, an "efficient metabolism" would mean that your body requires less calories to…

It gives your estimated daily calorie expenditure, depending on your movement throughout the day. I don't alter my intake, since a day like that is rare.
-
Your TDEE also changes depending on your activity. Yesterday, for example, I laid on a couch all day and barely moved. My estimated TDEE through my Fitbit was ~2400. On a normal day (like today), it should be at least ~2800 without extra exercise.
-
You know whether it's possible or not, based on how much you ate. Did you eat 28,000 calories over maintenance? If not, then it's not all fat.
-
I can definitely tell that my weight loss suffers when my sleep suffers. I've been on vacation the last week, and I barely sleep when I'm on vacation (weird thing where I can't sleep unless I've run myself ragged via work). I make poor food choices and don't move nearly as much when I'm this low on sleep. Ready to get back…

I have 130lbs left to lose (lost 70 so far), and I'm hoping to lose at least half of that this year. Good luck!

I don't have input in the wine category, but there's so much justification included in this post. If you're fine with your wine habit, why do you feel the need to talk about how you're "better than most"? I'm a doctoral student in a difficult field, I don't use that to justify my binge eating.

It's actually a way to keep all of us chemists employed. We have to keep making the dangerous chemikalz to put in diet drinks to make them evil.
-
And then use those exercise calories for another snack. It's like an endless cycle of yum.
-
It was absolute sarcasm.
-
Our hearts get a break at night, when we sleep, right? Since our metabolisms shut down while we're sleeping (which causes us to gain weight when we eat right before bed), our hearts must be taking a break.
-
Diet soda hasn't been linked to cancer or weight gain in any reputable sources. It doesn't lead to anything (besides keeping me up all night to work on research if I drink it alongside of coffee/espresso). I've lost 70-ish pounds drinking one or two a day.
-
Actually, hitting ~2000 steps is the upper limit for sedentary. Once you're above 2000 steps, MFP usually starts adding calories.
-
Choosing your activity level shouldn't be based on your exercise. Are you active throughout the day? Moving often and walking enough steps that would equate to 3 or 4 miles a day? That would probably be considered "Active" level. If you're less active outside of your exercise, you should select a more appropriate activity…

I was going to chime in on this. The Ben & Jerry's brownie core that I get is around that, if not more.

Calories are all that matter for fat loss. There is nothing wrong with eating carbs, chips, or pizza within your calorie limit. You do not need to eat at certain times of the day. Fat does not turn into muscle.
-
As long as it's not taking you under 1200kcal/day, I think it's a reasonable way to deal with it. I've done it before. If you're prone to restrict/binge cycles, however, I wouldn't recommend it. Log the binge then move on.
-
I don't try to avoid chemicals. I like water. And air. And food.
-
Lost 76lbs so far. Meal timing doesn't matter. Believe science instead of Bro-science.

Nice references. I trust that source, 100%. /s Provide these sources, please. Links to peer-reviewed, scientific journals.
-
Saying that the sugar (or sugar substitutes) in soft drinks are addictive is just plain wrong, without scientific evidence to back it up. Peer-reviewed, scientific journals. And don't try to throw the argument by telling everyone else to google it themselves. If you have the evidence, provide it.

There have been studies. Lots of them. And the studies support that Aspartame is harmless. I'd advise you to read the studies for yourself instead of blindly believing everything you hear.
