An incredible achievement! Those of us who are fellow travelers know the kind of drive and determination this exemplifies. Many congratulations to you - BRAVO!

I don't store any sweets at all in my house because I used to binge on them and I will obsess on them until they are gone. However, I have not completely eliminated sugar from my diet and do not intend to ever do so. For example...Kroger deli sells two slices of cake in a little box - we will pick up one of these to eat on…

The blurred vision part is concerning. I'd eat at maintenance beginning today and if there were any more incidents at all, I'd consult my doctor immediately. If it completely resolved, I'd continue but raise my calorie and carb level, monitoring myself carefully to find the proper balance. In any case, it is best to seek…

Don't think that was meant literally - it's kind of a common expression, I believe, or once was. OP, welcome to My Fitness Pal! This tool has been extremely helpful to me and to many, many others. I'm now down 107 lbs in total and counting, and all of that has been with the aid of MFP. There is a lot of information on this…

YES! Love it! Count me in! And... HELLO cheekbones! HELLO smaller pants!! HELLO self-confidence!!! HELLO HOPE!!!!

This is what I would do...substitute a sirloin or filet for the ribeye - that alone will save a boat load of cals and you still get your steak. Ribeyes are great, of course, but very caloric, so you don't get as much bang for your buck; therefore, I generally go with the sirloin or filet. I like doing my…

I wouldn't drink that vomitous "pink drink" if it was served from the Holy Grail, and I can't decide if those hysterically smiling snake-oil salesmen on Facebook, who take their pics hiking/camping/seeing Santa/etc., "pink drink" in hand, are more absurd, annoying, or hilarious. Probably equal measures of each.

I see the doctor who is supervising my weight loss program, which is expected to take approximately 18 months, every four weeks. We set a goal of how many pounds we think I can reasonably lose during that period, and every day, I think about that goal and make sure my actions support it as much as possible - "Do I order…

You are very welcome! And feel free to send me a friend request if you'd like. Germany sounds awesome - you can do it! Even if you have to take it slow, it will be worth it. We gotta make the best of the one life we have, even if it means we do nothing but sit on the veranda and smile under clear German skies. :-)

I understand how it feels to have limited mobility and energy - I have both a form of leukemia and severe arthritic attacks, both of which are debilitating at times. But I have slowly lost 90 lbs over the course of several years, just by tracking calories and doing moderate exercise as best I can. When I am unable to get…

This is what I do. I have a yogurt or a piece of cheese nearly every night in bed before I go to sleep. Works for me.

It didn't give me any energy or buzz either, it just made me feel kinda weird - sort of foggy and with the yucky taste in my mouth. But it did reduce my appetite for about 8-10 hours or so.

It was the combination of Phentermine with the "fen" part that created a dangerous drug - phentermine alone is regularly prescribed and monitored for a short period, usually up to three months. I have taken it in the past and it helped me somewhat with no bad side effects, but the medication I now take for binge eating…

When I first started trying to lose, I was so out of shape that I could barely walk and I had a lot of pain, so I began with seated exercise routines I found on YouTube, such as the one I linked below. This was one of my favorites - 20 minutes from a group called Hasfit and they say it burns 200 calories. Doing this daily…

Sounds like maybe you are in the U.K., so I'm not sure what the next step would be - here in the U.S., I just searched one out online and made the appointment myself. But I also had told several different doctors over the years about my binge eating and they did nothing to really help me. When I finally sought out and went…

I was in OA. I still use their literature and listen to their podcasts and so forth as a motivational tool, but the 12 step program alone did not resolve my problem. I have binge eating disorder - the only thing that has worked for me is medication prescribed for that disorder by a bariatric doctor (NOT diet pills). In…

OP, I understand where you are coming from. I go through periods of sadness too, where it's hard to stay focused and motivated. Do you by any chance ever watch My 600 lb Life? This may seem silly, but that show helps me get myself back on track if I start to falter or wallow in self-pity or sadness. Those people are…

Nailed it. So very thankful to have finally found an answer!

It varied. When I was in the worst depths of it, it would be every single day. Then other times, I could use some control strategies and white-knuckled restraint and refrain for maybe a week or two, but it was like this internal pressure would build up until I gave in and binged again. Then it would usually take me several…

Yes! That's exactly what it's like! Like I can tell myself what I am going to eat today and actually do it instead of being bossed around by some mysterious inner force that I can't control.

I'm on my fourth week and I felt a difference within just a couple days, but it's gotten stronger over the course of time. I don't know if it was just the excitement at first or if it kicked in right away, but I've not had any binges at all since I started the medication and only two episodes of slight overeating. I used…

So happy to hear that you are getting relief too. Yay! :-)
-
Thank you! I'm so glad it's helping me too and I hope others who are struggling will seek medical help, because it is out there! I finally saw a bariatric doctor and he is the first one who ever even told me that this could be treated pharmaceutically. I had very little faith that it would work - I was pretty much…

Hi! I'm going to send you a PM. :-)

Yes, toward the end I came clean. I had to, because one of my failed attempts at controlling it was to put a lock on the fridge and give my hubby and kid the keys, haha! Plus the therapy and OA, they knew about that. Now I take a prescription medication which controls it, thankfully, and I no longer have the compulsion to…

Yep. NOTHING really stopped my compulsion to binge until I was finally given a prescription for a medication to treat it. I did all the little tips in this thread, plus Overeaters Anonymous, therapy, every kind of diet imaginable, installed locks on my fridge and gave the keys to my family, carried no money or credit cards…

Might want to review what the OP actually said. Anyway, lots of good suggestions here for you, OP. I especially like the idea of increasing your exercise on the weekends when you have more time. Just keep it simple and keep it rolling, it'll happen! :-)

I struggled with binge eating disorder for about thirty years. I tried everything I could think of to control it but nothing really worked. I finally went to see a doctor who specializes in bariatrics and I am now taking a medication that treats it (it's NOT a diet pill) and I no longer experience the urge to binge. The…

Congratulations on your marvelous achievement! You are simply stunning, and your inward beauty and kindness are very apparent as well. Looking forward to reading your blog - thank you for sharing!!! Way to go!!!

Most of the pre-bagged salads have a weird smell to me, haha, but I do like the Dole Southwestern Salad Kit a lot - it's yummy! Comes with little packets of spicy ranch dressing, crunchy tortilla strips, and grated cheese. I drain a can of black beans and a can of corn with jalapeños, mix them with salsa, and keep the…
