and Im sure everyone who bought it didn't need it, wore it once then retired it to the back of a junk drawer lol

FYI, my watch isn't actually gold plated but it should have been and I actually do use it everyday. Got so much wear I had to order a replacement band. lol Still, the reason why I bought it was dumb haha

well duhhhh When I was looking at them, I was looking for something similar to the Polar M400. At the time I had begun running and thought, oh wow look how many calories I burn and my legs look awesome, I need to really get into this, lets go spend $300 on a running watch (cause I'm super smart like that). A month later I…

Yeah mine has the chest strap, at least my polar watches. Both are water proof but don't track my HR without the strap. Unfortnately.
-
Never even thought about that before. Based on the time between beats you can actually tell how fatigued you are? That's some pretty interesting stuff, will have to read up on it. Glad you posted about it, learning something new every day. thanks!

Random Knowledge for the win. lol Never heard of it.
-
For the one month in my life I tried running for exercise, the calories burnt was unreal. I mean, it motivated me and all, but it's still running lol I couldn't hang.

I've looked at a lot of forerunners and I honestly get so confused. There's like a million different models and varying price ranges and I just dont have the patience to compare them all lol but definitely hear they're great watches, cadence and cycling devices. If you search Forerunner on the Garmin site you get almost…

My biggest thing was finding a device that didnt need to be charged. Ultimately I ended up with several that I need to charge every couple of days haha go figure and only one of them is waterproof. The sleep pattern feedback on the Garmin Vivo line is awesome, that was one of my favorite parts of the vivofit I had. Polar…

And sorry for the million follow up posts. I'm trying to read everyones responses and take in all the information you guys are sharing. Awesome to see that there are a lot of people who are actually utilizing wearables and the differences in everybody's device needs. There's so many out there, hearing which ones you like…

That is why I put one on my ankle haha and HRM watches should be used as a relative but not absolute. I have both the wrist HRM bands and two Strap HRM devices (both polar of course). For me its heart strap devices for actual workouts and apple watch and blaze for daily estimate. Like I said in a previous post though,…

OK, I know I'm going to sound clueless here but what is an HRV app? lol I googled it and I got heart rate variability but I have no idea what the benefits of that are other than what you mentioned above. What are the variabilities it tracks? Probably asking a lot but could you give me an example?

The Fenix looks awesome. There's a ton of stuff packed into that little device with a price tag to prove it haha That's way more features than I'd even know what to do with but it seems to be a top choice for a lot of marathoners (im pretty sure thats not what they're called lol) and triathletes. Happy you found something…

I just bought one for my mother this morning. Ill let her know it's got atleast one rave review haha
-
Oh yeah, they are absolutely more accurate. lol For sh**s and giggles I once wore my FT4 for two (almost whole) days. I did have to take it off to shower and what have you but one day was my usual workday and the second I just loafed around the house. Some pretty eye opening information I got from that lol On those lazy…

Well, at my heaviest I was 190lbs and I've always been a calorie counter so it made sense to track the calories I burnt. Other than a quick warm up, I dont generally run. Me and my best friend who is also my workout partner like to refer to our preferred workout routine as "pilatesquatoga". It's mainly pilates with some…

haha I just read that comment. It actually amazes me how we, as humans, were able to narrow down the unit of measurement for human energy and fuel. That must have taken a lot of thinking outside the box and probably a good deal of ridicule from their peers before the scientific world jumped on board. As for your response,…

The Blaze uses your phone GPS to track runs, ionics has in built GPS. I traded the surge for the blaze because I have issues with the silicone bands causing allergic reactions but I miss the built in GPS. Cant really justify upgrading to a inoinc just yet since my blaze only about 6 months old. Plus I am a bit over the…

Which model vivoactive do you use? I'm just now realizing that the vivo I bought before the apple watch was the vivoactive not vivosmart. I felt it was pretty chincy feeling and a bit over complicated. Heard the the newer actives are much improved. And apparently Garmin also carries a vivosport and vivomove. Interesting.…

Ain't that the truth. When You hit thirty you start to realize you're not as invincible as you once thought. Recovery is longer, weight goes on quicker. Haha not fitness related but if I even have one beer I'll be feeling 2 or 3 days later much like my poor achey bones after the gym haha
-
Do you use it for steps or calorie counting? It sounds like a good durable device and happy to hear it helps motivate you to keep on track!
-
Task I just got my fitbit blaze and today's my first day using it, so far liking it. The band's are also much cheaper than the apple bands which is great. I'd definitely recommend it I just wish it was water proof so I could shower or swim with it on. The ionic looks nice though, if I had the extra money (I just invested…

Just saw a review on the best universal apps and IFTTT and an app called exist. I have heard of ifttt but not for fitness so that's interesting. You can grab all you data and dump it into excel. Here's the link for Exist though https://exist.io/ here's ifttt https://ifttt.com/

First off, holy smokes thats a lot of apps lol That is kind of what I was referring to when I said one app for all the info. It is time consuming to go through them all just to build a complete picture of your workout. I've download the Endomondo and STrava but I'm not much of an outdoor runner. As for training, I dont…

It is simply not true for YOU and YOUR device. IT was absolutely true for ME and MY device. It actually says in the manual that it is triggered by the movement to save data. IE, it doesnt collect HRM data unless you're active. While it will steal connect with the watch, it isn't saving the data to send to Garmin Connect.…
-
Yeah, Ive seen those. That's a pretty good way to keep yourself focused without only thinking about your general fitness. Garmin Connect is a solid app. Do you challenge yourself to beat your previous energy outputs? or do you use them more as a guide to maintain consistency?
-
Boobs. I went from a 36C to a 34A real quick. It's a damn shame :(
-
The garmin vivofit line of watches do not collect hrm data unless you are swinging your arms. During gym use if you aren't running every so often you have to (and I don't mean to offend anyone by being blunt about this) do a handjob motion, shaking your hand so the watch knows to still track hear rate. On top of being…

My vivofit won't even sync to mfp anymore. I'm so freaking aggravated. I've uninstalled reinstalled. Signed in and out. Linked from garmin linked from mfp. Nothing. Grrr
