  • You are probably around 25% body fat. Getting down to 15% would get you very visible abs
  • I don't bring water or plan on water stops unless I run over 13 miles. If I find a drinking fountain, that is always a plus. I usually won't stop unless I'm running over an hour. I've done 19 milers with no water before- it was cooler outside in the later fall/winter. I don't use any sort of "fuel" (to eat) on any training…
  • Congrats on your BQ- registering on Monday means you probably had a massive cushion :) That is awesome work for your first marathon- Very impressive! With 760 feet climbs in a half marathon near where you live- you should be training on good terrain. I am from the midwest, and I found the Boston course to be unlike any…
  • My half predicts a 3:05. My PR is 3:14. However, Im working on getting there :-)
  • 19. I personally don't find the need to even go 20. However, I run around 4 marathons a year. Multiple 14-18 milers seems to be my golden ticket.
  • I've been running for 5-6 years, and I would not see too much improvement in 15 weeks. I mean maybe 10 seconds per mile max. In the beginning, maybe closer to 30 seconds per mile. It's a long process
  • 3:14:12 @ grandmas marathon :-) a 5 min PR. I went all. I highly recommend this marathon! Great course!
  • C. Run streak day 370+
  • I'd try to make it out to those hilly trails 2x a week. It's only an hour away. Do the rest of your training on the road. Maybe do some stair action another day. The treadmill works wonders for inclines :-P
  • People can run PRs on all types of courses. I wouldn't let the elevation be the determining factor for doing a race or not. As others have said, rolling hills make the course more "scenic" help break it up. But I have always ran faster on flat courses.
  • Hmmm. I probably take IB profin on average 1x a week. I get headaches a lot. Some times I take it if i'm in a lot of running pain. I would just ask your Doc. When I mention how often I take IB profin, they don't even bat an eye :-/
  • I think this just comes with self control. I would just place yourself way way way further back than you would if you were "racing it". Heck, be the last person to cross over the starting line if you need to. This way the people you go out with will be going a slower pace (hopefully). Try listening to slower music. Wear…
  • It's been awhile.. Boston- 3:20 (1:36/1:44- died!) Stillwater half- 1:31
  • Lol I thought it was funny too :-) I did the goody challenge. (Half one day & full the next). I set my marathon PR there. The distances weren't too bad if you're an experienced marathoner. All I added to my training was 2 back to bsck double digit long runs (17 & 11) & (19 & 13). However, disney is pancake flat. As for…
  • That's a really fast time for a first marathon. Good job. Even with lower milesge 40 MPW- that's very impressive. Do you have a running background? I am also trying to run a 3:10 one of these days. I'm usually running about 60 MPW. you could probably get away with those training plans you mentioned- not firmilar with them…
  • Running a marathon can get boring. However, runnibg is the fastest way to the finish ;-).. How many marathons have you done? Things that helped me get my MP up: higher mileage, more long runs, more medium long runs with tempo & MP work
  • I also think her profile picture is from last years Boston
  • I'm in wave 2 corall 3. thanks for the bin reminder! I almost forgot about last years bandits! :-)
  • Are you getting excited for Boston? I will be thankful for my garmin on race day :-) I think it might be very easy to misjudge the pace of the first half of the race- that's what I am mainly scared for. I know the crowds and the downhills will be firing me up- just gotta stay controlled! Good luck & have a blast!!
  • 18:36 @ the gold's 5k. 1st woman out of 2200+ ladies! :open_mouth:
  • I usually do a bit of speed work like 800s or 400s to get some bounce back in the legs. I kinda stop all "hard workouts" 10-7 days out for a marathon. I might do a few easy miles with the last 1-2 "fast" type of thing the last 2 weeks of a taper
  • You'll probably be fine but I personly would not be diving right into training picking up where I left off PLUS adding additional mileage after taking a week off. From ny experience, it takes me a minimum weeks 6 to build back to marathon mileage without feel like I'm going to get injured, burn out, etc from "off season".…
  • The calculators make me laugh. I use them as my "take this time add 15 seconds per mile & maybe that can be your A goal".. But I think I establish goals based on training paces & past experience. If I can NOT hit 6x 1 mile repeats at a certain pace, I probably can NOT run a half at that pace or faster. If I can run a 20…

  • Have you ran in trails? Raced in trails? I think you'd be fine. You've done a lot of longer distance races.
  • 31:38 8k with a 322 ft climb! Tough but fun to run a shorter race
  • I've PRed many times in training runs but it's been during tempo or MP runs after not racing the distance in over 9 months. If you said it was "easy" to PR in the 5k/10k you should defintatly sign up for a race! How exciting would it be to run a massive PR in a race when actually trying to when fast?? That would be a major…
  • is it to the point where the thought of it just seems unbareable? Usually that's a sign of over training/mental burn out for me. When I go through a funk: Take a few days off of following a plan. If I feel like running 3 miles and throwing down on the last mile- I do that. If I feel like eating a ton and not running- I do…
  • 1:45 half on a holy course is FAST. I would suggest focusing doing whatever you have been doing the past 2 years. I am sure you will see improvements in the mararthon times. When I was a 1:41 halfer, I was running low 3:40s. I think you are very close & it would be a very good goal for a late fall marathon! To answer your…
  • How long have you been running?? You didn't give a lot of background to this, but I think it's within your reach. Your "peak week" for marathon training wasn't super high. I think you would benefit from slowly increasing mileage. My marathon progression has been: 2013: 4:09, 3:47, 3:45, 3:43 2014: 3:27, 3:31, 3:26 2015:…
  • We all know all my runs are sub 6 min pace haha just kidding ;-).. I'd be interested to reading that article. Prior to this winter, I avoided doing any sort of inclines of the treadmill because I'll admit I'm lazy lol. I know it had a negative impact on my transition to outdoor running last year. I thought adding inclines…
