Nobody in particular, but this place seems a lot like a dating site at times lol

I will try that. Thank you very much for your insights here, they really are helpful.

Thanks for the replies. So to clarify further, I think the machine does have a Watts setting, and it is using watts to determine calorie burns. I say that because on some days, when I am dogging it a bit I get say 406 calories for a 30 minute workout and a 5 minute cool down, and other days when I am feeling good I can do…

So you're saying that the HR readout is just eye candy then, and not used to determine the caloric output based on my weight and age as well? I have an older Precor EFX 5.23 and it always asks my age and weight each time I begin, so that plus my HR I assume meant it was fairly accurate. Also, it does give (and track) other…

Thank you all for your replies

That makes sense... Thanks. Thanks, good tip.

That's just what I did. I'd rather guess low than high on calories burned walking. I was just curious if anyone else noticed this and had a decent work around. Thanks.
-
Me too. I really don't want to get into "app-ing" the crap out of my health efforts anymore. MFPreally does have anything you'd actually need to track your food and exercise (except of course 3.25mphg walks lol). Seriously though, I work in a secured area and I can't have my FitBit anymore. After the initial withdrawel, I…

No need for a dietitian at this point, mainly because I have really just started to get serious about tracking my intake/outgo and have in the past been a reasonably fit athlete in my life -- so I know what to do to an extent. What is new for me is simply my age, coupled with the fact that I can no longer exercise my way…

Don't know who created this (was it you?) but it is a very useful flow chart!

Mine is only addable via the Dashboard or the Android app I have, but that's fine. So basically -- MFP for food inputs and FitBit for activities of any kind. Sounds great and easy enough. Thanks for the insights and advice.

Thanks, I'll check it out then. It's here: community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users

Thanks, that's how I've been doing things between the two apps. MFP for food inputs and FitBit for steps. So I am thinking if I do, say for example 30 minutes of Yoga, it would be better to input that into MFP -- agree?
-
Also, any FitBit users here? I ask because FitBit offers a Dashboard and it's only (kinda weak) weight tracking, food tracking system. I'm thinking to totally avoid that altogether and just track my steps and weight (I also have an Aria scale) into MFP and make MFP my ONLY place to track food and exercise only. How do you…
-
Thanks for all the excellent responses folks. To say "stuck" as I have may give a false impression that I have been a slave to tracking -- I haven't. However, the numbers I am giving here regarding age, steps per day, etc...are accurate so I consider myself to be at square zero right now. My main goal is to reset my…

FWIW, I got punctal plugs to fix my dry eyes and haven't had a problem since. Took 5 minutes at the eye doctor. Punctal Plug

So, I'll be stopping by the grocery after work lol

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. My wife is pretty easy going, and she would generally prefer to eat a strictly lean meat + vegetable dinner most days. She likes stir fried stuff and roasted vegetables and I grill several times a week, basically chicken with a day for pork and a day for beef thrown in with the odd fish…

Wow, thanks folks. Lot's of good info and interesting videos too. I do desire to go off my BP meds as well. Thing is, my wife IS a medical profession and so is steeped in the low fat, high fiber mindset. It's hard to tell what's right and wrong in terms of proper nutrition as there are so many competing interests with…

Me too...bugsy-poo it seems.

Never mind...found the answer (which is NO) in the Terms and Conditions pages found here.

Great point and I was expecting that when I got the Premium as well. No soap.

Thanks folks. Been using this for quite a while (> 5years) and I was really just wondering if there was such a thing as an "advanced" search somewhere really. Confirmations make a huge difference indeed, but it would be nice if you could really detail a search query more too.

Thanks. That kinda sucks lol...but I'll buck up and deal with it

Excellent explanation!

A guy's perspective: Lose weight, wear (or don't wear) make-up for YOU, not for anyone else. This isn't to say you don't love, care about or respect your husband's opinions. However his approval on any of the things that make you, uniquely you is not strictly required. Your life is truly yours, so own it and don't worry so…

I think it starts with wanting to make changes in your life. My own story involves me being 29 years old with a 5 year old so back in 1988. I smoked and weighed 225 at 5' 11" tall and I HATED running and most exercise except basketball at that time. May not seem horribly overweight, but I was in the Air Force and was…
