Fact is, in the US government pays 50%+ of healthcare costs. If you pay taxes, their destruction of their own lives does impact you. Healthcare cost, workers comp/disability caused by obesity and possible welfare support for survivors, etc

I always check a blogger's credentials before reading. Eliminates most, but still not all the BS

Thanks for the clarification, 3 days in the hospital seemed out of the ordinary. We had a neighbor age 70+ get both knees replaced and I believe they just kept him one night. Anyone I've personally known that had shoulder surgery was outpatient.

I'm going out on a limb, but the pain issue is a very personal one. I've had 6 shoulder operations (including rotator cuff) and pain was not a big deal. I believe I took maybe 3 doses of the prescription pain meds total over the 6 procedures. Several times, I got on my laptop and did a few things for work in the afternoon…

Are you in the US? I've never heard of anyone staying in ICU for 3 days following a shoulder operation. Did he have some high risk factor?

May want to read some stuff from Eric Cressey. Trainer who's a go to shoulder guy. Lots of free articles on his site. May help you frame questions for doctor. https://ericcressey.com/

As has been said, ask the doctor. That being said I have had several shoulder operations, including rotator cuff. From my experience, the sudden jerking and momentary black out pain indicate this is nothing that is going to be fixed by PT.

Unless the friend was a long time lifter coming back after a break, I'd call BS. Nobody is going from starting lifter ro 200 kg deadlift for reps in 8 months. Ask to see it.

Read The Supple Leopard

Next time you're at a public beach or pool look around. Notice the % of heavily muscled people who vs obviously fat and report back. If you're honest you will say there are few heavily muscled people there

Nice job on the weight loss. However, to be intellectually honest, exercise didn't slow your weight loss, your inability to control your eating with exercise slowed the weight loss.
-
Agree, with all the above. Also question for @alantran6725 , what about building up legs? Strong legs/core will help prevent the "help I've fallen and can't get up" situation as we age.

Nice article from Men's Health on diet and exercise lifestyle for drivers. https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a19534152/on-the-road-fitness/

As mentioned the key to weight loss is calorie management. The Mediterranean style of eating probably has more support in the traditional medical community than the others from an overall health standpoint based on what I've read. Given your weight, I would push your doctor to send you to a Registered Dietitian to make…

Thank you for taking personal responsibility

Agree. Guy in my guy is permanently in a wheelchair after a motorcycle accident. He does all sorts of upper body work.
-
Good suggestions above. How is your posture?

If you don't like the commercials, pay $10 a month for YouTube Red, no commercials and you get Google Music also.

I'd try and simplify as much as possible (believe a few other poster said basically the same thing above). You still want to lose weight, to do this you must be in a calorie deficit. I would continue to lift and do your cardio, eat at a small deficit. You will get in shape, lose the weight, preserve the muscle you have…

Darn, you're on top of most of this stuff. Thought I was missing the secret sauce :).

Are you saying a male can gain 4 pounds of muscle a month (without chemical help)? What I have typically seen is MAYBE 2 pounds, but even that is with ideal conditions and a high level training program (like major college/pro football offseason training) and not a long term trainee. Would be interested in your sources.…

Since we as a society are lazy we become gullible in order to find a quick fix.

You are first going to have to realize that to get more activity into your day you will have to reduce some sedentary time. Simple math no matter if the activity is gym time or "regular life". You have been given many good suggestions, walk or bike to work (or part way), park further away whenever you leave your car, cut…

I understand just fine. People's thoughts/feelings are their reality. If you don't feel like you have time to exercise, that has become your reality. Decide what you want your reality to be. Best of luck.

My son had a membership for a while. He'd work late nights as a bartender and go in after work. Said the attendant was usually sleeping so he could do whatever he wanted.

It's 2018. Pick a gender for the day.

The title of your post says in big bold letters, "I feel like I have zero time to exercise". Sure sounds like you are claiming you don't have time. How about taking a 1/2 hour a day our the time you are spending doing your leisure activities each day to do some movement? Your health will thank you for it.

I hang some straps on the Smith machine bar for ring pushups and inverted rows. Works great for that.. My gym has 3 nice power cages and 2 platforms so the Smith machine is usually empty.
-
Good for you for taking charge. I've heard stories similar to that. People didn't have time for exercise or healthy eating but they made time for several hours of dialysis a week.
-
Deadlift in Smith machine is generally considered a bad idea.
