The point was probably to get support given that she was placed in a situation where her choices weren't supported. The lack of compassion and understanding on MFP these last few days has been unbelievable.

What a well-written post, I love it! Regarding the depression, have you tried taking B12? And I mean the methylcobalamin kind, not the cyanocobalamin kind. It did wonders for me after giving birth. You can do this! Just make sure to log everything, accountability for calories is huge in making changes. You'll probably have…

I eat when I'm tired. I notice you have little kids, I do too. I often found myself eating after getting them into bed. Now, instead of eating, I go to bed too. I wake up feeling more refreshed, and no guilt from late-night binging.

Does your fat feel different? I'm asking this because the scale stayed the same for me, but my fat felt really squishy. I did some reading and it turns out that my body was burning fat and filling those areas with water. I upped my calories for a few days and had a whoosh of water weight.
-
It would if you had explicitly said that you cannot eat those foods because they cause you to binge.
-
I don't either. Would you mock an alcoholic or someone trying to quit smoking this way?
-
I'm the exact same way. I just can't have it in the house because I end up eating it all at once. I guess subconsciously I figure if I'm going to eventually eat all those calories anyway then I should jut get it over and done with so it doesn't consume my thoughts for the next week or two.

"Give up if you want to -I'm sure that will make you feel better, right? " A comment like this would make me want to eat an entire bag of chips. There's a nicer way to go about helping someone. Do you feel better though?

Have you noticed a change in your body? Energy levels? Does your fat feel different?

I actually can't drink orange juice. It makes my chest really tight, like there's someone sitting on it. Maybe it's from the acid, I don't know, but either way I avoid it! Good to know about the cauliflower. It's been ridiculously expensive lately, but I did buy some the other day because it was only $4 CDN a head!

Oh, and yesterday I was feeling really blah, I've had bronchitis for the last 2.5 weeks, and am now developing a cold too. So I ate 3 bowls of soup. Something I could (and would) do quite easily in the past. My stomach physically hurt after, so I've learned my lesson there! Tea will now be my go-to when I want to…

This is incredibly tmi, and I debated whether I should post it or not. When I started my weight loss I had 40 lbs to lose. I have lost 13lbs to date. My clothes fit the same, I'm still in a size 16 pant, and my shirts still fit the same. Needless to say, I've been pretty disappointed to not see any physical changes.…

It would be interesting to see how our 'default' BMIs compared to our BMIs as infants. I was a preemie, and the advice back then was to fatten up a baby as quickly as possible. Now they like to see babies 'lean and mean'.

Thanks! And I know what you mean, learning about food and nutrition are my interests too! I think if I can get this weight off I'd like to become a motivational weight loss/health coach :)

You can check out mine too if you want. The Clif bars are a bad snack that I picked up working nights, and the Life cereal is something hubby bought, so they are items that aren't normally in my diet. Same with the 34* crackers, they were left here by a friend from a potluck night. Otherwise, snoop away, lots of healthy…
For me... cramps. Cramps in my neck when I yawned. Testicles when I urinated. Arms when I picked something up. That was a bit extreme, but it was that event that helped me pinpoint it as a potassium deficiency.
Wow, good thing you were able to figure it out! Thanks for posting the symptoms, I'll know what…

Yay, thanks

An easy meal plan that works for me is greens+protein for breakfast, green smoothie for lunch, and carb+greens+veg+protein for dinner. Snacks are vegetables + protein

How can you tell 'when things get bad?' if you don't mind me asking? I have no idea how to know if I'm truly deficient and need to supplement or not. Saw a nutritionist, naturopath, and doctor all in recent years, and no one's ever said anything, so I'm assuming I'm fine, but then again, you know what they say about…

Got one week in before I got my butt kicked with bronchitis and a cold, it's been 2 weeks and I'm still fighting it. Will you be doing this again next month?

Just measured my waist, it's 36". I'm 181#, trying to get to 154#ish. I'm 5'8", and not sure what I'd like my waist to be. If I could get into a size 8 then I think I'd be ecstatic! (I'm currently in a 16)

Awesome, thanks!

I find that my weight fluctuates by about 5# on any given day, and I also track my weight on a spreadsheet lol. As long as the overall trend is downward I'm happy. Do some reading about plateaus, water retention, and whooshes. I was working really hard for the last couple scales, and felt like I should be losing weight but…

Just wondering, have you had a sleep study done to test for sleep apnea?
-
If I didn't count calories, and just ate what I wanted, given my history, then my BMI would be around 28-29. That's about 190 lbs on my 5'8" frame.

Set aside from this week (which I have indulged in a few types of packaged foods), I normally stick to whole foods. I'll check my foods when I log them, so all the non-asterisked ones come from the USDA then?
-
We have to add salt to our water softener (we're on a well). I don't know how to log that, but I wonder if it would help with my potassium intake then?
-
Oh, I haven't been logging coffee. Thanks! I'll try it and see if it helps :)

When I'm on my TOM heavy days, I increase my calories by 100-200. It helps deal with the hunger and fatigue, while still keeping me on track with my 1.5-2# a week weight loss. It sounds like you are doing great so far, and making small changes that are going to have a lasting positive impact! And I also agree about the…

I love my Oster blender. They last a really long time too, my mom still has the one she received as a wedding gift forever ago. The smoothies I usually make have frozen fruit and greens, so I'm not sure how it would do with ice. We don't usually have ice in our house lol
