Tofu is not overly high in fat. Also fat is not to be totally feared either we all need some fat in our diet. I had a tofu paella dish last night and yes it had around 15g of fat but only 2 grams was saturated fat. I could have probably reduced that if I'd used less rapeseed oil. I actually eat a lower fat diet than a lot…

@7lenny7 chaffing issues I and most people I know don't normally wear underwear, just shorts with a good liner or personally I prefer tights/cycleshorts like shorts. I never get any issues except in runs over around 4 or 5 hours in the rain (and I get a lot of rain where I run) and then bodyglide is your friend As for…

If you're genuinely dehydrated you wont need encouraging. Otherwise don't over think it your food is around 80% water so you get a lot that way so drink when your thirsty. The 8 glasses of water nonsense is actually a random number made up by a mineral water company. Yes keep hydrated but don't over complicate it

Just because they said it doesn't mean it was true. Did the measure muscle mass before they lost weight and after? If they did How did they measure body composition?.

In my opinion people overdo The amount of protein you need is a lot less than a lot of people think. The recommendation is around 0.8 grams per kilo of bodyweight for a sedentary person. I'm training for an ultramarathon at the moment as a 196 pound man increasing my protein requirements to take that into account I'm still…

Sugar has calories so saying it has no nutritional value is silly.

Very Rarely, I'm 46 and running around 70 miles a week. If you're having to take them too often there could be an issue rather than attempt to cover it up maybe try and solve the problem (which could be as simple as different shoes) would be my advice

A few day's rest wont reverse all the training you've done. Rest it for a few days then see how it is

The saturated Fat one has not been debunked as a myth. Despite what people keep saying. Even though there have been a couple of studies questioning this. The wealth of evidence is still that too much saturated fat is linked to high cholesterol. There has been thousands of studies over the decades supporting the link so one…

I should hit my 270miles for May by the end of tomorrow. I need another high mileage month for June before tapering into my Ultra in July. So I'm I'll be doing 300miles (majority on trails) all in wonderful sunny Weather of course none of it will be in high winds or rain ;)

Self reporting isn't always bad depending on what you're trying to research. The main problem with this study from the limited information I have about it is it's already starting with a conclusion. It's asking what you feel is the most addictive. So you have already made the assumption that foods are addictive so you have…

The thing is people seem to forget these things are all estimates and a guide they are not set in stone. Also it depends what your goals are. As a long distance runner an estimate of calories burned is a useful tool to help me estimate my intake on long runs. You're right to say focus on your food intake but focusing on…

For my swimming I use a swimovate, Though I've not swum much recently. Most general fitness trackers won't track swimming

Why would anyone want to run on the Road? Around 95% of my running is on the trails the other 10% is getting to the trails

Competent does not always mean good. There are many RDs out there who's advice is questionable to say the least. As with all qualifications there is the good and the bad. Also just because someone is not a RD does not automatically mean their advice or knowledge is bad. MFP is a prime example there are many people here…

Patience it can take up to two years for your skin to retract fully. The speed you lose bears no relation to have much loose skin you'd have. It just means it may be less noticeable as it could give it more time to retract with your weightless

@Wendy1Fl They normally say around 500 but it can depend on many things from the way you run, your weight the surfaces you run on. I had one pair of road shoes I ran in most of last winter that had around 800 miles on them before I retired them. I've had other shoes such as asics that don't last me more than around 300 (so…
