  • That's amazing! Well done!
  • That is my story too. I ate more and moved less, and ... hit my goal weight yesterday morning. My weigh-in this morning was up again a bit, but I expected that, and tomorrow, or some time next week, it will be down again and in a week or two I'll be adjusting to maintenance.
  • I know I have worked at this! I was just so surprised as I was resigned to maintining or gaining a bit over Christmas and hitting goal in January. But my (initial) range is picked: 75kg +/2.5 kg. However, given that I have been in that range for most of the last two months, I think probably 75kg +/ 1.5kg is going to be…
  • I guess it does, even if it was not planned that way. Hope yours has been good too.
  • So, I weighed in at 75.2kg the scale on 19 December, 75.3kg on Christmas Eve and this morning I was at 75.0kg on the dot, and THAT IS GOAL! So the next "mini"-goal is to have my monthly average at between 75 and 75.5kg, and then I'll work on transitioning to maintenance.
  • Can you talk to a physio? When I tore all the ligaments in my ankle (long before I had heard of mfp), it was the physio who was the most help. I had been dancing 4-6 hours per week and doing other exercise on top, but had to stop cold. I tried to adjust my diet to fit the new lower activity. I think I would have lost it…
  • That is a massive range. I am female and 5'11"; it looks as though my maintanance is going to be a bit under 1800 calories per week, so 1200 calories would have me losing more than 2lbs per week, but 2000 calories would have me gaining a bit under 1lb per week. How tall are you? What deoes mfp give you as your calories for…
  • One of my friends moved from rewarding herself with chocolate to rewarding herself with flowers. I love this idea and have copied it, and it also supports our local florist (who uses sustainably grown flowers). [Our chocolate instake stil lgoes up over Christmas though!]
  • Ah OK: your new maintenance level is lower than your old maintenance level now that you are lighter. That makes sense. (Sad but so true!)
  • I saw another post on here, but can't remember where/when, which said that the phone app only gives you the language of your phone, and you have no option to change it. Annoyingly, that seems to mean that you can also only see the forum in that language. (My phone speaks German, and I can only access the German forum from…
  • The thread header says 50lb down since May 2020, so I would assme since May 2020 :D . This is so impressive! (I say that from the position of being not quite 30lbs down since May 2020.)
  • This will be me too. Slowing right down at the end means that maintenance won't look much different. However, we eat well and drink good wine so I really can't complain.
  • Good for you! You look great in both photos, and you will be able still to fit in your wedding dress! (Though it will be too big for you.)
  • That's giving me about 2000, including exercise calories, which suggests that the 1800 is probably going to be about right.
  • Goodness, I hope my maintenance level is something like yours. I am taller again (5'11") and heavier (aiming fro 165lbs) but MFP is giving me only about 1800 cals as maintenance (before exercise). Hopefully I'll be able to start finding out where my maintenance level really is sometimes in the new year.

  • I agree, keep it simple; CICO is all that matters for weight loss. I do currently look at macros because if left to my own devices I could easily eat >50% of my calories in cheese (=fat) and I have worked out that I feel and function better if I am eating more carbs and less fat. But I lost weight on my cheese+ diet,…
  • That sounds great! I hope the move goes well.
  • Low carb works really well for some people but less well for others. I am someone who does better eating carbs within the recommended range of 45-65% of my calories. Provided my calories are in deficit, I lose weight regardless of my macros, but I have found that I have more energy when I eat more carbs. You will need to…
  • That realyl does sound uncomfortable and for me it would not be sustainable. You've been around for a long time, so I assume you have experimented unsuccessfully to find what low calorie foods might fill you up better?
  • This has nothing to do with weight, but I just finished writing the Christmas post, and it can all go off tomorrow. That's a weight off my mind, if not off my body, and a good mini goal achieved for this time of year! (It probably won't arrive on time, but at least it should get there this year!)
  • That's a classic covid symptom, as i expect you realise. I hope you are OK.
  • This is really good advice, but you have mixed up BMR (basal metabolic rate) with BMI (body mass index), so what you write is a bit confusing. I've corrected it in my quotation as the point is a really important one.
  • I really sympathse with this and this is exactly why I find it so important to record daily weigh-ins in a way that shows me trends. Before I did that, I found tracking my weight pretty stressful. My weight was up over the last few days, which I also find saddening and frustrating (though understandable given what I was…
  • Not for me, sadly. I reached goal and beyond and then maintained for about 18 months, sort of: my weight was actually creeping back up all through that period, as can be seen from my monthly average weights after I reached my lowest weight: they were 71.43kg, 71.79kg, 72.57kg, 73.41kg, 73.95kg, 74.35kg, 74.82kg, 75.09kg,…
  • Well done! (And from that photo you don't look to me as if you coupld possibly have another 48 to go! - I am not disagreeing with your goal, please understand, but just expressing my surprise.)

  • Mine is the same - a very slow loss since September, but I am in my maintenance range, which is good, though I would like to get to my goal weight which is 75kg:
  • Lots of good advice here: all I can really say, is good luck! However, here is a reflection from my own experience: I guess I am lucky because I always ate quite healthily and I like to cook, so for me it was about planning to keep my calories below a certain number, raather than a radical rethink of my diet. I don't…
