  • We have the Omron Body Composition Monitor with Scale. It works great and seems pretty accurate on the body comp monitoring. $80 on Amazon though.
  • Wow, you look fantastic! Great job!
  • You could always create a new food under your my foods and not make it avaliable in the database.
  • @mjaygtoo It is not a sweet cup of black coffee, but more so a cup of black coffee that is not bitter. It just tastes like coffee, and actually has a natural sweetness to it. There are no specific brands, you have to find a coffee shops in your area that roasts fresh coffee and does it well. I am in San Antonio, TX, and my…
  • Although I feel anyone can eat anything they want, I wanted to say that I do like to eat bigger breakfasts. It helps me stay full throughout the morning and snack less while I'm sitting at my desk at work, therefore eating fewer calories throughout the day. But each to their own
  • I used to never be able to drink coffee black until I discovered real coffee. The kind that is roasted fresh and ground right before it is prepared. Burr grinders and pour-overs - it is the only way to have a truly sweet cup of coffee without any sweeteners. Everything else tastes like bitter dirt now and I am unsure how I…
  • The thing I always find odd is I can only accurately measure my weight loss right after my period ends. I gain tons of water weight from the middle of the month all the way through the end of my period and then all of a sudden I lose a bunch of weight when it ends. I hate this part of me because I'm trying to get into a…
  • Calories don't "evaporate." Count it if you add it.

  • By having only water and a vitamin for a month your body will go seriously haywire. Your metabolism will slow down to compensate and you will basically go into a starvation mode because you aren't nourishing it properly. This happens with any really low calorie diet, it is why they fail more often than not. When you do…
  • @SirJaseph I wear the insoles when I'm exercising or I know I will be walking a lot (mall, park, etc). At home I wear a pair of Vionic sandals, they are the only pair of sandals I've found to have the support I need. But at work I don't need to wear my insoles, my feet seem to do fine now with part-time use.
  • I lost quite a bit of muscle in the leg that I had the surgery on because my doctor had me in one of those straight leg splints for a couple weeks when I was up moving around. And I was on crutches not allowed to put weight on that leg for a couple weeks as well. I'm sure you will have to go to a physical therapist…
  • When I had my ACL surgery, I didn't feel like doing anything the first couple weeks post-surgery. Focus on recovery first, it will take a lot of your energy.
  • I like to throw a little olive oil in the pan, add them in with a little salt and sautee them. When they cook down a little bit, I pour some chicken broth in and cook them down until they get softer. YUM
  • For caffeine? Try coffee or tea.
  • I have the Surge, and the HR monitor is pretty spot on for me. I recently went to the doctor and they were doing vital signs, so I compared the HR monitor on my Surge to the one on my finger connected to the machine... and it was like 1-2 off. Pretty good to me.
  • Add rinsed quinoa to a pot with double the amount of water/salt (I use chicken broth - gives it good flavor). Leave it on HIGH uncovered until a rolling boil, then do a quick stir, cover, and reduce the heat to LOW and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until all the liquid is evaporated (I have a pot with a clear glass lid so I…
  • I had a problem with my right foot for a long time, over a year actually! I thought it was plantar fasciitis, but the foot doctor I finally took myself to found that it was a combination of that along with a collapsing arch. OUCH. He made me some custom orthotics that WORK WONDERS. I wear them a few times per week and I…
  • I lost in my face, stomach, arms, and legs more dramatically than my butt. I mean, it did seem to shrink because I fit into smaller size pants, but the proportions are still there. And I have a feeling my butt will be the last thing to go (and I don't think it will get a chance to go anywhere because I'm starting…
  • I am also in maintenance. 5'7" 137lb female. I use my fitbit to calculate so the method is a little off from you, but I also found that what it was telling me to eat was far too low, I'm still losing weight! My plan is to add back calories here and there that I cut out, such as requesting whole milk instead of 2% in…
  • I eat there all the time! My bowl is 630 cals and I am usually stuffed by the time I'm done. I get a chicken bowl with brown rice, black beans, hot salsa, cheese, lettuce, and cilantro. You can create your own combination of things and see how many cals it will be with their online nutrition calculator. Chipotle always…
  • I am eating an average of 2000 cals/day. Depends on how much I'm moving around that day.
  • I know this is a paleo blog, but she gives some good options for a disneyland trip. Not sure if disneyworld offers the same, but could use it as a guideline. http://againstallgrain.com/2015/03/12/gluten-free-dining-at-disneyland-part-iv/
  • I'm 2lb away from my 135lb goal (@ 5'7"). I am happy, but now I'm going to focus on strength training as well as continuing to have a SLIGHT deficit because I still want to slim up a bit more. I'm going to continue to weigh myself, but I'm not going to be solely focused on the number on the scale - I'm going to focus on…
  • Great job! Keep it up!
  • Glycemic Index diet
  • I would wait and talk to your doctor. There are dietary changes you can try before rushing into medications. Meeting with a dietician would help tremendously. Good luck
  • It takes AT LEAST 3 months for your a1c to lower if you have just recently changed your diet. This is how long it takes all of those cells to die that are still holding onto those sugars. So if you have changed your diet recently, don't freak out. Relay this info to your doctor and maybe they will retest your a1c in a few…
  • ^ This. If you have the HR it is measuring intensity and calculating burn accordingly.
  • I was not able to run when I had it. Could hardly walk for long distances. Mine was caused by extra weight on my body, it went away for the most part when I lost the weight (still flares up if I wear the wrong shoes). The injection I got from the doctor did help a little bit, but my foot was in a cast for 3 weeks - not…
  • I didn't decide to lose weight when I first started. I decided to quit eating so many refined carbs (pasta, breads, sweets, sweet tea) and the pounds came off so easily from a reduced caloric intake. I loved it so much I decided to stick with it and track my foods to get down to a healthy and comfortable weight.
