  • Up front, I am a 59 year old woman. I was slim, but not necessarily fit most of my life. I quit smoking six years ago, discovered food tasted good and blew up to almost obese. I would not say I gained the weight because I was in my 50s, rather I quit smoking and ate a lot and did not exercise. Using the tools I learned…
  • Hi hun, Best of luck to you! I lost just over 70# here with not much support from anyone, BUT! The people here are fantastic, if you find the right ones. It may take a while, but you will find plenty of support here at MFP. I know, it is not the same as someone at home or in the family or even in the neighborhood. I have…
  • So, CICO works, whether short or tall. As I said earlier, height does not matter, CICO does. Sheesh, peeps.
  • OK, fake woman aside. I eat anywhere between 2000-3000 calories/day. I also run anywhere from 4 - 7 miles/day and walk a bit. I am 59 years old, have been here for a few years and have been on maintenance for over 2 years. My weight stays constant. Height has nothing to do with anything. CICO
  • I stopped logging last June after realizing I weighed same every week and knew instinctively what I was eating. I had been in maintenance for 1-1/2 years. Now, I weigh one more pound than I did in June, still do not log and life is good. I am here every day. I am hyper-aware of what I eat, BUT, logging is not a priority. I…
  • @ryenday Great job this past year!
  • @CoachJen71 Congrats on your one year of maintenance!!!
  • I have not been posting here in a while, but have been peeking in every once in a while. Love seeing how you all are doing. Name: mk Age: 59 Total weight lost: 70ish Time to lose: less than a year Time in maintenance: more than 2 years Maintenance range: 114-118 I averaged 116# throughout 2017. Jan and Feb the same.…
  • I lost 70ish pounds in less than a year without using a food scale. Oh, and have kept it off for over 2 years.
  • I prefer running. When the weather is bad, I reluctantly get on my elliptical. I can handle an hour even though I don't like it. One of my preferred go-tos is exercise videos on youtube. There are tons of them from walking to HIIT and Tabata and everything in between. @pastaprincess1 maybe you just need to find something…
  • @Gutcutter500 Way to go on the 5K run!
  • @pkweier Yes, pizza! Everything in moderation. Wow, if you like something, eat a bit of it from time to time.
  • Ah, the scale. Before I started my journey, I had no scale - just weighed in at the doctor. I bought a scale and stashed it in an unused room because I can get a tad obsessive. (Seems to happen a lot around here) I weighed in once/week while losing. For some reason, I started weighing in daily once I got to maintenance.…
  • @STLBADGIRL I guess I am a little late to this party. I am 59 yrs. old and lost 70ish pounds and have kept them off for pushing three years. Yes, veggies are your friends, lol. So are eggs and blueberries and lots of other foods. Find an exercise that you love (or at least like) and do that as often as you can. MFP's blog…
  • Got an email. Info also on main page when I logged in. Good on you, MFP! Letting 150 million peeps know anything is a monumental task!
  • @seska422 Need recipe, please!!
  • Where are you comfortable? Find your "me" weight - the place where everything falls into place. Exercise? Eating? Clothes? Work? Family?
  • I eat fairly normally in the morning. Try this, it's not gross. 2 eggs scrambled with a handful of spinach and some feta. Blueberries. Depending on how much of the spinach, feta and berries 250 - 300 calories and lots of nutrients.
  • @ryenday Out of curiosity, what would happen if you ate the 1600 calories/day all week? I'm pretty sure I would be convicted on manslaughter on only 1350 cals/day. Then again, I am one of those who exercises a lot so I can eat a lot. It looks like ignoring you is not going to happen. We are here to help, if we can. P.S. I…
  • Lots of people do the C25K stuff. I started out walking and would jog/run to the next phone pole, adding more running distance as I got better at it. Maybe walk 2 minutes, run one? I guess pick something that sounds good to you and will work with your brain and body. Build on it. Best wishes.

  • 2 eggs scrambled with a couple handfuls of spinach and some feta. Blueberries for dessert.
  • You should be fine
  • How long have you been here? I am very active, although I still list myself as sedentary. It is the best way for me to figure out my CICO. My TDEE is somewhere around 1800-2000, I have my calories set for 1800. MFP wants them to be 1540. I would lose so much weight at that number, you would never see me, lol. Fiddle around…
  • WOW!!!
  • I weigh in once a week. Tried the obsessive every day thing and made myself crazy. I have been very consistent the last 8 months so I am going to try and weigh every other week. Oh yeah, I have been on maintenance for a couple of years after losing 70ish#.
  • @nowine4me While wearing size 0, think of this. How wide are your hips? Not to disparage you, but the kids sizes are made with narrow hips in mind. When I was maybe 30, my size 5s were very loose and I swore I would not go smaller. I tried 12-14 in girls, but...hips. Maybe learn how to sew? Hell (can I say that?) I don't…
  • Back in the 70s/80s I weighed 120-125 and poured myself into size 7 pants. After kids, I weighed 145 and was size 12. Lost that weight, got down to 115 and was a 5. That was in the 80s. Fast forward to a few years ago. I weighed 190 and wore 18 or XXL. I must be the only throw back. When I shrunk out of my 14s at maybe…
  • Name: mk Age: 59 Total weight lost: 70 ish Time to lose: less than a year How long in maintenance: more than 2 years Maintenance range: 114-117# 2017 average: 116 January average: 116 Week ending: 3 Feb: 116 10 Feb: 116 17 Feb: 116 24 Feb: 116 Feeling (in a good way) like a broken record. Maybe my new question should be…
  • MFP blog has some great recipes. Also check out skinnytaste.com. Chocolate covered katie has some really good sweets recipes (she is vegan, but gives alternate ingredients). Sometimes just subbing ingredients can make a huge difference in your regular recipes. Sub non-fat plain greek yogurt for sour cream; Stevia for…
