Out of curiosity, I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on Stronglifts? I've been doing it for 6 months and have been feeling the itch to do something different and I'm not sure what direction to go. Thanks!

Any experience with clients that have been able to close up a mild diastasis recti? I have about a finger-width gap at my belly button from pregnancy. Baby is 18 months now so I don't think this is going to resolve completely on its own. Thanks! And second question if you don't mind. How do you know when it's time to…

Love seeing such an informative thread on this topic! I'm 10-ish pounds away from changing my strategy and I'm leaning towards recomp which has generally seemed to be "less popular".

How is the butt-touching even a debate?!? Based on the description it wasn't a form assist. Fired on the spot.

Slow and steady and small changes! Try to adopt a plan that you genuinely feel like you could manage for the rest of your life without feeling deprived so that you don't have to rely on the fleeting feeling of motivation.

That does make sense! That difference is probably enough to boost me to the .75 lb / week. And feels like a nice buffer for logging inaccuracies. :)

Aww. I thought for sure that you discovered prancercise.

Your body - you choose what to put it in. Being in your late teens /early twenties is tough because the adults around you still feel like they have some say over your choices (and they did for the vast majority of your life so far). But making choices that are right for you and owning them despite the opinions of those you…

Excellent - thanks! The weekends are primarily for lifestyle and adherence/sustainability reasons. And I've found that reducing cardio to walking instead of running has had a noticeable impact in the weight room. I'm progressing faster now and generally have more energy for workouts. But I will keep the cue on Saturday…

Between the 5 weeks of April 19th and May 23rd I at on average 2200 calories. And I guess I did lose some in that time period - 148.7 to 146.5, so 2.2 pounds. Based on that, my TDEE might be higher than what Fitbit says? (2420 vs. 2200).

That is a great idea! Not sure why I didn't think of it. In my calorie burn history I'm at about 15,200 a week give/take on weeks where I've limited cardio to just taking quick walks to hit 10k steps. I'm not going to bother adding in weight training calories at this point. (I can't imagine they're that much?). So with my…

Still keeping up here now about 6 months in and looking for advice on adjustments. I've kept at my lifting pretty faithfully 3x a week and that is going well and I'm enjoying it. For about 6-8 weeks I tried to use Fitbit adjustments as the sole way to decide how many calories to take in, and that was a failed experiment.…

I started delaying breakfast so that I could eat a snack after dinner. It just works better with my schedule, too. I'm in a rush in the morning. I enjoy having a treat once I finally sit down after the kids are in bed. And I'm more tolerant of being hungry when I'm busy at work. That is just one idea. Point being - think…

She's ignorant and from her perspective she probably thought she was helping you. Ignore!

I started skipping breakfast so that I have calories left at night. I'm less hungry overall and I get to eat more when I feel like it.

There's nothing wrong with this philosophy if you're excited about adhering to it for the rest of your life. But if you don't think you can do it, or the thought of never having diet coke again makes you sad, you might consider a philosophy that moves you closer to your health goals but isn't as strict.

I had a feeling you'd ask. Can I privately PM a Dropbox link rather than post in the forums?

Great opportunity here, thanks! I started SL at the start of the year. I've been pretty consistent hitting my 3x a week and progressing on weights. My latest squats have been around 105lbs and I'm noticing a bit of a stress on my lower back. It feels like I'm hyper-extending on the way up and I find myself doing a bit of a…

A slight, but meaningful variation on the theme that "food isn't the problem, you are"... People believe they have black/white personalities that are fundamentally in conflict with moderation. So when "eat less of any food" is the answer, they literally don't think they have the toolset to do it and that is upsetting. It…

No cheese is better than fake cheese, IMO.

I'm of the mindset that we should all accept compliments even if they're poorly packaged and delivered. And beast > you go girl.

I decided to trust my fitbit for the month of March as a test. I did a diet break for 2 weeks and then back to deficit the 2nd half of the month. I enabled both positive and negative calorie adjustments and stayed within range for the most part. I had good results in terms of not gaining/losing per the plan.

If you have an aria scale, the readings get logged automatically. And there is value in understanding fluctuations by seeing them.

Crock pot meals and the grill are the best. I keep a list of easy recipes that I pull from since we both work crazy jobs and have 2 small children...Here are some of our favorites: In slow cooker - Frozen chicken breasts, jar of salsa, frozen corn/other veggies, can of black beans. Shred the chicken and serve over rice or…

I haven't hit a plateau. I'm just losing more slowly now. I was losing 1+ pounds per week. Now I'm more like .5-.75 per week. And I actually want to relax my cardio workouts a bit. I work out after 8pm every night and it makes it hard to get to sleep at a normal time when I'm getting home 9:30/10, winding down, showering…

Thank you!

Can you expand on this? Twenty pounds from what? Is it really just a person's goal weight irrespective of what their preferred level of leanness is? From the top or bottom of the BMI range for your height? Twenty pounds from a specific body fat range? And what makes it more appropriate? I'm currently 149lbs at 5'5. I've…

I think there is something to the notion of keeping goals to yourself. You don't have to subject yourself to people trying to be helpful when they're uninformed. And there's some studies that say you're more likely to stick to your goals because you don't get outside kudos before you've actually accomplished your goal.

Kellymom.com recommends that EBF women stay above 1800. I don't know your stats, but you could likely bump up and still lose nicely.
