Share more details about what you hate specifically and I'm sure you'll get some pointed tips.

I take measurements and weigh daily, but pictures are what I like seeing the most to assess progress. They are kind of a pain to take because I wear the same outfit and try to set-up with the same light conditions - but I get the most motivation from them. I'm 5'5 as well (a little heavier at 138) and in my last round of…

I think humans are somewhat wired to always want more...More stuff. Better this. Better that. I feel like there has to be an element of "choosing to accept" versus waiting for some moment of enough.

This stuff happens. What is the smallest step in the right direction that you can take? Skip an iced coffee? Log a day, a meal? Take a 10 minute walk? Do anything small that gets you moving in the right direction even if it feels insignificant. Small wins stack up and beget bigger wins.

Random like.

How old is baby? That makes a big difference too. You shouldn't restrict at all the first 12 weeks, and be cautious up until baby maxes out in milk needs at 6-7 months. After that, it might be easier to cut calories. Also depends if you're working and pumping and whatnot too... Either way, I'd just ease into a calorie…

There can be a huge difference between BMR and TDEE. I'm sure you meant TDEE. Eating 500+ BMR could be too low for some nursing women. OP - I would enter your stats into MFP for maintenance or .5 lb loss if that is your goal and then add 500. Adjust the goal manually, or add an exercise for breastfeeding for 500 calories.…

Another aspect is someone's belief of whether they think they can be successful or not. There are some interesting studies on people living in poverty that continue to make poor choices that further contribute to their financial problems. And some of it is related to the belief that they will never get ahead, so why not…

Can't is usually a poor word choice in place of "don't want to" or "don't know how". And my observation is that the forums can get too distracted by this.

Baked potato with cottage cheese and salsa....yesssssss.

How does your diet look? I know that once I left the overweight category the methods I used to lose weren't as effective anymore. Just not eating enough veggies/fiber/etc. Maybe open your diary? And shut down that new products thread! Every time I wander in there to lurk, I leave hungry! Lol.

I don't think it's that weird except classifying the pain as "extreme". Are you talking sore / bruised, or like worst pain of your life / can't go to work, etc.? I think "food hangovers" are pretty common especially if you are accustomed to eating well most of the time. And 6 apples is a lot. Maybe your indulge days need…

I really like Alan Thrall's videos on youtube for the big lifts. And second Rippetoe's book to read about them. I did a lot of body weight squatting in my living room just pretending to hold a bar to just feel the movement... And start with really light weights where even if you do it wrong, you're unlikely to hurt…

Have at it. I just posted my own staples....Lots of other options out there!

Just keep practicing saying no until it sucks less....

If I only would have known years ago! Thank you!

I just opened my diary if you want to take a look. I rarely drink protein shakes and eat red meat maybe a couple times a week. I have used a lot of quest bars, but I can hit 100g without them pretty easily and am trying to reduce my reliance on them. Some of my staples: - Cottage cheese on an english muffin or toast. -…

Yes! Those stupid little Ben & Jerry's - Haha. I graduated to where I can buy a half gallon and trust myself to weight out a serving now. :)

Thank you!

Seriously take the pictures with little clothing! I would never show my bikini ones on the internet no matter how good I looked. But they are so helpful to have just for yourself, especially on a bad day to see how far you've come.

Parental approval is a tough thing to transition away from as you enter adulthood. IMO- The question to answer is not how long it will take for them to accept your lifestyle. The question is how long until you accept the fact that you don't need anyone to tolerate / accept your choices. Huge power in that transition.

Eat at maintenance for a day or two or three instead of "gorging".

Thanks for the additional replies and thoughts. I decided that I'm going to start working with Sidesteel on programming/coaching starting in December. I've done really well on my own since December of last year, but I'm looking forward to some professional help for 2016. I'm sure I'll share updates going forward. :)

I'm 5'5 and 145 pounds. Based on tape measure calculators, I'm guessing I'm 26-28% body fat. So while it would be great to lose another 5-10 pounds of fat, the work/reward trade-off associated with eating at a deficit isn't big enough for me right now since I'm not really unhappy with my body. And I'm under a ton of work…

Welp, I was hoping there would be some general formula to ballpark a range...Like two years training should yield a 1.25 - 1.5x BW deadlift. (Made that up, clearly) Back to drawing board... Thanks.

^^^That can't be real. I was loading the bar on my back wrong - wrong position and I wasn't holding my arms in the right position. I am not sure what was happening anatomically speaking - but my lower back was stressed from it.
-
Huge breakthrough this week on my squats. I've known something was really wrong with my squat form for months because my lower back would hurt like the second I got under the bar...and progress has been at a standstill because of it. I figured it out this week and instantly no pain. Can't wait to start progressing again!
-
This almost seems too good to be true...but I really want it to be so!
-
I'm going to ask a question that I'm not sure is answerable, but I'm hoping you may have some good insight. :) I'm at a point of constant second-guessing. I lost 25-ish pounds pretty easily just lifting / cardio / reasonable deficit starting in Dec last year. I didn't have any big hunger issues. It took about 6 months. Now…

Speak for yourself, but I actually prefer these over take-out.
