I received advice years ago from an experienced distance runner - "if you can run 3, you can run 6". I bet you will have no problem with the 10K. Just pace yourself.

I'm 5'2" and weigh 164 and I wear size 12 pants. Years ago at this same weight size 16 would have been snug and hard to find. I am not hippy (I have a rectangular build and wide shoulders). When I weighed 125 I was a size 6 on the bottom and 12 on top.

I think I'm reasonably attractive but beginning to think I may be the only one with that opinion..... lol

Water temp of 80 sounds perfect.

I've been on Lexapro three times and gained significant weight each time. The first two times I lost the weight after going off the medication, the last time....I'm still working on it.

I lost weight on WW and kept it off and I snacked. The key is to have planned snacks. Why not snack on steamed vegetables? Or lean protein? Or fruit? Or yogurt? Just incorporate snacks into your daily calorie target.

Originally Vancouver but now Tennessee. With the upcoming U.S. election I am happy to have a Canadian birth certificate.

On again, off again? Been there, done that. It didn't work out well for me and I wish that the first time it was off, I had left it off. Please, please, please stay away from this man. It might not be easy but you know you deserve better than this.

I retired over 3 years ago from the IRS. Since I really disliked my job (they were paying me to be stupid) I am now happier than ever. I had to make an effort to find friends and activities but it has paid off. My current goal is lose the weight. No excuses. I have no one to take care of but me (and the cats) and I need to…

Unless you are an elite runner, who cares? I no longer run but when I did a race my attitude was "I'm not going to win and I'm not going to die." Just enjoy yourself! Although I didn't like being so far in the back that the ambulance was right behind me.

You can't include in medical expenses health club dues or amounts paid to improve one's general health or to relieve physical or mental discomfort not related to a particular medical condition. I'd get a note from the doctor stating the medical condition that requires the club membership before you sign up. (FYI, I'm a…

I am fat. It's not an opinion, it's a fact. I just own it. If I want do something about it I can and should. I'm also short. Big deal.

Because life isn't fair.

I hike regularly in the Smoky Mountains and wear Injinji toe sock liners. I don't get blisters but I lose toenails all the time. Some I have lost more than once.

I also feel 30 lbs lighter. Then I pull something from the closet and I'm surprised that it is too small. And I have a real mirror.....

If you rely on willpower to lose weight you will fail. You are establishing a new routine for a new way of life. Weigh, measure, and write it down. It works!

Remember that you are establishing a new life style. The weight loss will follow. Even when I had weeks where I lost zero pounds I was happy that I felt good every day that wasn't spent stuffed and bloated. Hang in there day by day and there is a healthier you in the future.

The WW points system is just a more complicated way of counting calories. And they reorganize, rename, and repackage it every few years. I'm new to MFP but I already like it much better and I am a lifetime WW member which means I lost the weight and kept it off - until I didn't. I recently quit WW online and decided to try…

I did my last triathlon at 50. I am now in my 60's and my goal is to do a sprint next year. I'm lucky that I can swim. I have a good bike. Now if I lost 30 lbs I'm sure the run would be so much easier. As I said about my first open water swim (La Jolla, by the way) when everyone else was so nervous, "I'm not going to win…

I reached lifetime with WW years ago. I now need to lose 30 lbs. WW is a great program but they just keep repackaging the same information. This seems similar (you gotta track!) but more straightforward. A calorie is a calorie. I'm very active but now that I'm a bit older - take note youngsters - the pounds are harder to…
