I'm really enjoying these comments, so thank you all. I'll be 61 later this year and finally think I'm on the "right track" after trying for at least 30 years. "I'll be Fit By 40!" "I'll be Fit by 50!" How many times did I say/believe that, only to be caught up in emotional eating...or "I know what to do...but I'll start…

I echo the sentiments of all above. I'm 60 and have bounced all over the scale over the past 30 years but have finally found my groove (I think/hope, lol) All the best to you!!

I had the same thought as MsBaz2018...you're a whole different person now; congratulations!

Your commitment is amazing; I really appreciate you sharing your story.

As a binge eater myself, I found the Brain Over Binge book by Kathryn Hansen (as referenced by Papyrus3 in the above comment) to be very helpful; it's by my bed on a nightstand so I can easily reach for it for continued encouragement and support on those many days I need it. I've highlighted the pages and paragraphs that…

Another newbie on board (I hope!) I'd love to join any team; thank you!

Lol. My first thought reading the title of this post was the OP kept running into people who hated making eye contact;) It's funny because I was going to sympathize if that was the case! When I go out for a walk around my neighborhood, several folks act as though I'm not inches from them as they cross my path. Anyway,…

I love the idea, like Zyvi above, of buying some new music when I reach a goal. For now, for every 10lb loss, I fill up my tub and take a long soak. I have a selection of bath bombs and I get the candles out and some type of adult beverage. It's the little things, you know? Thanks for sharing your stories, everyone.

I'm in a similar situation, TM81980 and others. Started off quarantine convinced "this wouldn't stop my motivation/progress," and for a few months it didn't. Towards the end of 2020, I began bingeing again along with decreased exercise and by the time I hit the reset button in early January, I was up 51lbs. I just started…

Thank you, ND. I really, really needed to read this today. I am grateful to be ever moving forward. <3

Hey you... Karma - I hope it's a thing.

Peanut butter is the only thing I'd panic-buy.

I appreciate your passionate "slightly more than 2 cents" @bojack5 and your perspective @mi_nina_lola. Thank you both.

do you feel this way about MMA as well? or just boxing in particular?[/quote] @mi_nina_lola: I feel this way about any cage fighting where the object is to physically beat another person to "win." To me there are just other ways to showcase agility, speed, focus, strength, perseverance and other specialized skills than…

The "sport" of boxing. Anybody else look at two people in a ring throwing punches at each other to be something that should've been left in the Dark Ages? Especially given all the research showing cumulative brain damage? I don't get it and I grew up in the age of the much-celebrated fights of Ali, Liston, Frazier,…

I've been dealing with BED for 20+ years and feel I'm on a successful path that also includes occasional lapses into unhealthy eating habits. My binges are now much shorter (1-2 days vs. weeks/months) with greater time in between so that's definitely progress. A great help to me was reading Brain over Binge by Katherine…

If I can, do.

I'm currently obsessed with making my own ice cream! I need to stop making it or...buy another freezer. I used to lump ice cream in with "bad" foods, back when I was labeling foods, so I'd typically only eat ice cream on a binge. Now that I view food without judgement, I make the good stuff and incorporate it in as treats…

Also, from waaaaay too much experience, Trader Joe's has terrific mini PB cups. I'll have to check out Aldi's, too.

You had me at "Reese's." Thanks so much for the link, JAG!

There's something new in my area (eastern Virginia) that's called "Leaner Creamer." It's made from coconut oil and comes in a few flavors. It also purports to have "natural supplements" which promote weight loss. I typically use Coffeemate so am already used to a powdered creamer. So far I like it and don't feel so hungry…

My Etch-a-Sketch and my older bro's Lite Brite (with most of the pegs missing and no templates, lol).

Same as above commenters; I just tuned in to learn what the heck F3 Gashouse is.

Yup, I hear you and understand the struggles. I'm 56 and have been dealing with binge eating/yo-yo dieting for decades so I'd be happy to support and be supported!

Grey corned beef hash;)

Yes, you CAN do it, Cindyp22! Just keep doing what you're doing - head into the wind, eyes on your goal and don't let minor blips along the way discourage or distract you. This is experience talking here, lol. I've been hovering around 200 for far too long and success seems at once close and oh so far away. We've got…

Isn't every day cake day??

Oh, yeah. In a crowded elevator, filled with co-workers. So glad I don't work there anymore...and they are probably too:)

@_Captivated_, I was a few weeks ago and couldn't find such straight-forward steps like Tjfitness90 wrote - so thanks so much, Tj.

I have a sweet treat almost every day, as it's part of the deal I made with myself as I strive to eat healthier. Yes, I see the irony in that statement. I have an issue with binge eating or the other side of the spectrum - severe calorie restriction. So the deal I made with myself was if I ate moderately (no extremes), and…
