I'm finding that 2+ is my danger zone, too. I feel horrible for about 2 days after, and not just physically -- I get anxious and paranoid that everything that can go wrong will go wrong, and my head spins like that until the body re-sets. Incredible how the anxiety can just flood out of nowhere like that.

Thanks for a great topic -- I'm in! And I am finding that the 1-2 days after I drink are filled with anxiety. Anyone else have this side effect?

I've been suffering through a few weirdly anxious days, about something that is seriously improbable. I have not had a bout like this for some time. Anyone else have a brain that sometimes will not turn off? How do you deal with it --- without alcohol?

Sounds like me at most family events! I went to an AA mtg late Sunday night. Almost everyone there had a similar experience. For what it's worth, you are not alone.

Good morning! Was dealing with some general anxiety yesterday, which feels much better this early morning. Part of it is work-related, so a portion of the cure is to get to the office and start working on the project that has been hovering out there. If I can spend a good 6 hours on that today, in addition to everything…

Well, you DO need to be prepared for those unexpected guests.... And then you might as well drink it before it gets skunked from being in the refrigerator too long.... Or is that only me?

Definitely need some help here. April start wt: 207.5 April goal wt: 199.5 April 1: 207.5 April 8: 205.5 April 16: 202.5 April 22: April 29: No idea how the scale says I'm -3. I was home for the weekend, stress eating and feeling toxic. I really expected to be up today.

I don't know how many days I've gone without for this last stretch. 10? 11? My longest stretch ever was over a year. In 2018, I went 100+ days. Last Wed, I was out with work friends celebrating one's return to the office. I drank water. No eyebrows were raised and no one said a word, other than one just asking, "You're…

@lorrainequiche59 I rarely buy anything online, for all of those reasons. Of course, I stopped buying online before the internet, when it was catalog/telephone/mail ordering. But everything you are saying now rings true for how it was then. Well, wait, that's not true. I do order my Nespresso. :)

And that's how I feel the day AFTER I drink. The last bout of all those feelings really threw me for a loop. I had a long drive starting on a predawn Sunday morning to contemplate it all, which led to my own discovery that drinking, which I do to get rid of my anxiety, leads to more anxiety the next day.

This is a hard skill -- and just when I think I've gotten to that good point, a pool of anxiety will wash over me and linger for hours, sometimes a day, where I will question if i was ever seeing the situation correctly in the first place. Please share how you're doing.

Definitely need some help here. April start wt: 207.5 April goal wt: 199.5 April 1: 207.5 April 8: 205.5 April 15: April 22: April 29: This week was hard. Lots of cracker, lots of snacks. Not as much alcohol, so at least that's a savings on some empty calories.

@RubyRed427 Glad you had a good weekend. You deserve it. :)

Anyone else get anxious and paranoid the day after they drink?

@Beka3695 Love that screenshot! What app is that?

You said it perfectly. I am right there with you. And I have gone to meetings hungover, thinking, "ok, today is day 1", and then had a beer later that same day. Day 1 is hard.

@donimfp and @VeggieGirlforLife Great posts from each of you. I'm in a similar boat. I drank a bottle of wine on Thursday, was hungover on Friday (and I swear into Saturday), ate poorly as I visited family for the weekend, and combined with restless sleep, felt an anxiety wave coursing through my body for 2 days. As I was…

@RubyRed427 Thanks for posting that video -- I needed it this morning. I feel off balance, almost like I'm slipping, these past few days. I used to have a group, but with the move, I haven't found the right new place for me yet. Going to try another one today. For anyone who hasn't been to a group meeting, I have to tell…

I keep reading "AF" not as alcohol-free, but as something else entirely -- and I love the wonderful emphasis it puts on your messages! For instance, @RubyRed427, your wishing us all a -- as I first read it, "fabulous as f**k" week -- just made me feel awesome! A guy needs those strong, powerful, Monday morning sentiments!

Congrats to all with the new apartments, and to everyone else with their new beginnings. Pack what you need, leave what you don't, and enjoy the adventure of becoming a new you.

I'm tired of being the middle-aged fat guy. Not that I'm trolling for girls, I'm not. But I wouldn't mind being noticed every now and then.

I ate everything last night. Everything. Not even going to try to count the calories. How can I be so good during the day only to sabotage it when I get home?
-
I give you credit for stopping at 2! And I hear you about the friendship, the spring fever, the being out with friends that you haven't seen in a while. I remember being out for brunch one day last summer with friends and I could smell the champagne from across the table. Anyway....you had 2 beers. Not a big deal. And…

@Ed_Zilla Congrats! Well-done, you!

March 10: 204 March 17: 203. Was hoping for more, but to be honest, I really didn't try after Wednesday.

@VeggieGirlforLife Hang in there! I used to have Sundays where I would start the morning with coffee and the newspaper and then segue into a bottle of red for the afternoon. I have been in the mood for that Red for almost a week now, for many of your same reasons. Sometimes I swear I get anxious about feeling anxious.

@lagoscarrie You said something that struck home: "I do not like wondering if I have wine at home -- or if there is enough." Been there, done that, on so many occasions. I am lucky enough to be able to walk and do pretty much everything I want: groceries, bank, errands, etc. And because I walk, there is a second part to…

@helen195 So true! Wisdom is nice, but a fast metabolism was a pretty great thing, too!

Really made an effort to track calories yesterday, and hit my goal. So now, what, only 68 more days to go? :)
