  • There's a place in the program (under nutrition on the app and in reports on the computer) that shows your daily and weekly calories. I've had days where I've gone over my daily calories, but because other days I'm under them , my weekly average is still within my goal. Don't know if I explained that properly, but it does…
  • My daughter was diagnosed celiac 3 years ago. We made a lot of changes to the way we cooked (dinner, mainly, as that was the meal we ate together), so that I wasn't cooking several different meals. The best way to start is by cutting out as many processed foods as you can, to weed out all the hidden sources of gluten. Try…
  • I started MFP 12 days before Thanksgiving. I'm down 25.9 lbs as of yesterday morning, although I was at my cousin's yesterday evening (baked ziti!salami! cheeses!), & will be driving my daughter back to college tomorrow, which will involve an overnight stay & at least one restaurant meal with friends, so not completely…
  • I love oatmeal, but I usually make it with milk & various spices -- cinnamon, cloves, vanilla. Also with a peach (in season) or apple chopped up into it-- yummy. Never tried chia pudding, but I love greek yogurt-flavored, not plain. Plain I have to add some splenda & flavoring to it. Love the texture though, but didn't…
  • First married -- husband insists I have to try liver & onions w/ bacon & potatoes --"You're gonna love it!" My mom hated having to eat liver as a kid, so I'd never had it @ home. The only time I did have it was, while in pharmacy school, & doing a lecture at a nursing home, they invited us to stay for lunch, & lucky (!)…
  • Tonight will be pot roast in the crockpot with potatos, carrots, onions.....
  • I have an oatmeal/egg white muffin recipe that's pretty good, but takes about 35 minutes to bake. They're better fresh, but you could make them the night before & just zap in the microwave for about 10 seconds to warm it back up. It makes 4 muffins (1 serving), or you could make it in a small pyrex dish & just cut it into…
  • It does make sense & you can actually re-set your meal names in MFP settings. Default is B, L, D, Snacks, but there are actually 6 settings you can use. You can enter them in 4 hr increments as 12-4a, 4-8a, 8-12n, etc. & log food during the times you actually eat. It might help you figure out where/ when you're spending…
  • This morning I made my oatmeal with skim milk, PB2& polaner sf strawberry preserves. PB&J oatmeal. ...kept me full for 4 hours.
  • Same thing happens with salad dressing. You pour 1 or 2 tbsp over your salad, but unless you lick the bowl (!) you probably didn't eat all those calories either.
  • I NEVER lose my appetite when I'm sick -- unless it's a GI virus! It's upsetting that I can't even lose when I'm sick!
  • Very graphic description, & hit me in a very visceral way. Can't see your pics either (work computer!), but I understand the feelings you describe completely. I've done that drive through, eaten way too much, then gone home & had dinner. I never knew why, if I was hungry, I didn't just get 1 burger or chicken sandwich. Why…
  • goal - 1400, Eve, about 1750, Day about the same. 2 glasses of wine on the Eve, none on the day (home vs traveling, plus I liked my wine @ home better than what Mom had!). Difference this year to last is I limited my cookie intake & had no candy. Enjoyed what I did have, & lost 3.8 lb this week! Going out to dinner w/ the…
  • chips--greasy salty goodness, I could eat a 10 oz bag at a sitting before getting sick of it (or, at least I could several weeks ago. Haven't tried recently ;) !
  • Even better when this morning (official weigh in, 21.5 lbs down) I realized I miscounted & it's only been 6 weeks!!
  • It is exciting. 7 weeks in, 20 lb lost (started a little higher than you) & I'm feeling so much better, I'll bet you are too.
  • Today there are donuts, cookies, cupcakes, candy & crackers --& none of them appeal to me !! Previously, I might have had one just cause they were there, but I no longer like the store bought ones. If I'm gonna have a cookie, I'm gonna have one of the yummy homemade ones @ my house. Avoiding candy -- still afraid of it…
  • That's how I'm trying to look at it. I ate over goal, logged as well as I could. Didn't eat as many cookies as in the past, but definitely enjoyed the fried rice ball & antipasto platter!
  • Excellent advice! Also-- if you still live @ home between semesters, look around your parents' kitchen (assuming it's well stocked, & you like how they cook/prepare foods!) & see which items they use a lot (get those), which have been there for months/years (meaning it's used very little, or for specialty items, so skip…
  • I also keep them for emergency lunches, but I usually add some veggies or a large salad. If you get them, try for the higher protein ones.

  • Just watch out for soy sauce!!! Most have wheat & soy, not just soy. Not sure if La Choy is safe, but my daughter won't eat it just in case, we use tamari or GFree versions. Also, sushi made w/ imitation seafood often has wheat gluten in it.
  • Finished the full 30 minutes on the treadmill--might not sound like much, but I don't always manage. Also wasn't dreading it today for some reason....
  • How do you change the macros???? I go to settings, but can't find a way to change that.Could someone post step by step instructions? Thanks in advance
  • I like this. If I can't weigh it (bagels, cream cheese) or don't absolutely looove it & can't get it any other time (ie, packaged cookies, much prefer homemade!) I've been avoiding it. I was out the other day @ a gathering, & had one of those crescent/nut cookies (not sure what they're called, but they're nuts, butter &…
  • My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease 3 years ago, so we made a lot of changes as a family. While we didn't all go gluten free, I changed my recipes & preparation of food significantly. The easiest way to start is staying away from processed foods--in the beginning, it was eye opening to find out how many things…
  • 1/2 bagel, 2 servings egg beaters, 1 slice ff borden cheddar, coffee--258 calories
  • My daughter just finished her first semester of college, & has to eat gluten free (celiac). Interestingly, most of the gfree options were in the "healthy options" station--things without sauces, or heavily processed. However, if they don't have anything she likes --trip to the salad bar for her.
  • 1 egg white = 17 calories, 3 = 51 calories. 3 tbsp = 25 calories, 6 tbsp = 50 calories, so 6 tbsp = 3 egg whites. 1/3 cup is actually 5 1/3 tbsp (about 45 calories) so 1/3 cup is APPROXIMATELY 3 whites. (I'm good at calculations ! :)
  • Pulled pork sandwiches....yum
