So, I wanted to try something new...
I have a recipe for "protein pancakes" -- cottage cheese, egg beaters & oatmeal, with a little sweetening thrown in. I wanted them for breakfast today, but didn't feel like making them last night, so I took the ingredients & did something different-- I baked it! 1/2 cup (40g) quaker oats -- 150 cal 1/2 cup (113 g) fat free…

Only went over by about 50 calories today
Not bad, considering my daughter's birthday. I skipped the pizza & cupcakes at lunch, (made myself a spinach salad with turkey instead) but did enjoy a decent dinner (chinese restaurant) & a small piece of birthday cake. Found that the frosting on the cake was much too sweet, so won't even be looking for a second piece…

Looking for crowd size dessert recipes
Having a family get together in a few weeks, & am all set with my menu, but was thinking of adding another dessert. I have birthday cake, fruit, probably brownies or cookies, but wanted to have another option. Preferences -- low sugar / low fat, gluten free. Doesn't have to be, but it would be better. Also, has to be…

Savory night time snack
I wanted some greek yogurt the other night, but was a little high on my carbs/sugar (diabetic, so it does matter) for the day, so I didn't want a sweet mix in, & I can't eat it plain. I took some, added dried minced onion, garlic powder, & dill, then used a couple of these wheat crisps (Mr. Wheat, they're these airy wheat…

ZOODLE!
So, I bought a vegetti a few weeks ago, finally got around to buying a few zucchini to try it on. First one, I just used to supplement my macaroni, so I could have a smaller serving. Last night, I stir fried it with some garlic & dried basil. Ate half with my dinner, took half today to have with my lunch. Added a laughing…

Getting back on track
I ended up with a few mini binges the last 2 weeks, & am trying to get back on track. I logged most of it, where it was measurable, but not all (hangs head in shame :( ) It's been harder than I expected -- I did really well for 5 months, & a short time of overeating has made it more difficult for some reason. I did well…

Hit the first 50 lb goal!!
Got to the 50 lb lost level today, 18 weeks in. 100 more (or so) to go. I know it will be slower going, & I won't get to the next 50 as quickly (the first 30 took about 10 weeks, the next 20 the past 8 weeks), but it will happen! I told my DH that at 50 lbs, I was treating myself to a massage & facial, just have to find…

Roasting green cabbage
I have 1/2 a head of green cabbage left over from 3/17. Instead of steaming, I want to try roasting it. Any suggestions -- cut, uncut, oil, pam?? Also have some snap peas I might do as well - anyone tried doing that? Thanks!

I am somewhat depressed today....
However, I did NOT allow myself to self medicate with food. That is a first for me, and especially important, since I will be at a dinner meeting tonight with no idea what will be available to eat.On those days, I try to be especially mindful of what I eat during the day , to allow myself extra for that. I also plan to…

My latest motivation for losing it, & keeping it off for good.
On Tuesday, I have to go to my brother's house & clean out a good laundry basket or more full of junk food -- cookies, candy, etc -- more than any one person, or even one family, should have available to them. The reason I have to do this is that a week ago, he was having quadruple bypass surgery, & then an implantable…

Day 100
Down 42.5 lbs. I started 2 weeks before Thanksgiving, got through Thanksgiving, Christmas (work party, Eve, Day & dinner @ my cousin's the following weekend) New Years Eve, Valentine's day, & a horrific winter, where all I want to do is curl up under the covers & eat comfort food. I have a few eating out challenges this…

Pedometer question
So, I just got myself a pedometer a few weeks ago, & tried to calculate my stride by the instructions, & also verified that the steps taken matched the device. (used the mall, counted 200 strides, adjusted, counted 150 strides, matched). My step count is low, at least according to the device. My confusion is this: the last…

Calories in homemade soup?
I have a turkey carcass that I am using to make soup today. There is some meat left on it, but I won't know how much till the soup is finished & I weigh it out. The rest of the ingredients are onion, carrots, celery, garlic, spices & water. I make it in the pressure cooker & when it's done & cooled a little, strain off the…

I'm melting!
at least, that's what someone told me today! I didn't quite understand her at first, but then she followed up with saying I'd obviously lost quite a bit of weight. I thought it was an interesting way of complimenting me, but It was funny to hear! o:)

If there was ever a day for "stress eating"
I've had it!!!! Cleaned off my car standing in a few inches of slush, didn't leave enough time so was late to work (in a hospital, pharmacist in a Pediatric ICU), got jumped on as soon as I walked in with " my drips are dry, I need new ones 20 minutes ago", dealing with one critical patient after another, took a 15 minute…

Got pizza & stayed under calories!!
Went to a continuing education dinner last night. Sometimes they're in restaurants, sometimes in a hospital lecture room, but it's always a toss up as to what kind of food you're going to be served. I usually eat a little lighter those days, so I can have a little wiggle room. Also usually try to make sure I exercise those…

HELP! USING 1 HOMEMADE RECIPE TO CREATE ANOTHER!
I'm going to be making Lasagna for my mom's birthday, & I'm trying to build it in the recipe builder. Only problem is, 1 of the ingredients is my "Homemade Italian Gravy". I can't figure out a way to incorporate that ingredient into the recipe. Any suggestions?

Am I losing too fast? (long post)
Background: I've lost weight before, but never managed to get to my goal weight, (135 lb about 11 years ago-weight watchers) & again about 3 or 4 years ago (35 lb- tracking with fatsecret), but in November, there I was again, very overweight, terrible blood pressure & lab results (even with medication), & seeing my new…

Feeling good today!!
My official weigh in day is Saturday, but as of this morning (7 weeks in, in a time frame that included Thanksgiving & Christmas Eve/Day) I am down 20 lbs!! I also have more energy, & though I still don't like waking up early :( , I don't have as much trouble doing it either. Still don't enjoy exercising, but I've been…

I'm so confused.....
Or maybe my body is. Yesterday I had higher calorie breakfast & lunch than today, & I was hungry all day. Today was lighter, I exercised & was well under my projected calories for the day. I thought, great, I can have a few Christmas cookies! I had 1 small one & that's it. Still under my calories for the day. I figure a…

How to calculate fried food recipe
Anyone have a suggestion for calculating calories for fried foods (homemade)? For Christmas day, my mom is making her (once a year!) rice balls. I can figure out the calories for them uncooked (approximately--I'll have to guess on the bread crumbs), but then they get fried & drained on paper towels. I don't know how much…

CHANGE THE MACROS?
Is there any way to change the macros on my diary? I've just been using it a week, & I usually have lots of Carbs left over, & am over on my protein. As a diabetic, I would prefer to have lower carbs & higher protein to shoot for. I'm trying to avoid simple carbs anyway.
