  • I "practice meditation" daily. I am happy with missing (try not to), and only doing one ten minute session a day (as a rule). I listen to an app called CALM. Free app to me. Came with my insurance. Give it a go and it really is "a practice." Good luck and keep us posted as to how it is going.
  • I have always liked the philosophy that 80% of weight loss takes place in the kitchen. Once you figure out your goal, you can determine the number of calories per day that will help you be successful. For me; 1500 works. There is much to learn about portions, nutrition, etc. and MFP provides the best tools for that.…
  • Just had the most satisfying meal. 9 ozs. of steamed broccoli, 4 ozs. of rotisserie chicken breast (no skin), cut up, 2 tablespoons of Lighthouse sesame ginger dressing marinade, cayenne pepper, black pepper and a dash of liquid aminos. Whole thing is under 300 calories. Give it a try. Let me know what you think.
  • Discipline has taken on a negative meaning. Think of it like this...Self discipline equals Self love. Give yourself love and attention and know that even if you only lost a half pound per week... that would be 26 pounds in a year. NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.
  • Grateful. I have been blessed with another day above ground and limitless possibilities.
  • NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF. You are investing in your most valuable asset...YOUSELF. You are worth the time and attention. Be vulnerable. Be honest. Be discerning. Share with those who are supportive in your life. Finally...do mirror work. Look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself that you love yourself completely and…

  • Thank you for providing this opportunity to "weigh-in" on the maintenance plan. I am still a ways away from reaching my goal BUT...I want to align myself with the winners (you all : ) My height is 5'9 and my weight has been as high as 297, but currently am at 197. My wife says I look good, but I am thinking 185. I like…
  • I pay it forward. If I know that I am going to consume more calories on any given day, I work out to offset what the difference is. A good rule for me is to do 700 calorie burn at the gym. That usually gives me the latitude I need.
  • I have not reached my goal weight yet, BUT...I am expecting to do so. I decided to check-in on this forum to see what it is that motivates people to continue on their healthy (maintenance path). I want to arm myself with as much information possible to be able to meet my weight loss goal and sustain my accomplishment. I…
  • Sucks doesn't it? Been there. 80% of losing weight takes place in the kitchen. Personally, I would rather work out than become mindful in the kitchen. BUT...if you throw your list away and just log what you consume you will be blown away. So many calories. Log everything you eat. Make that your priority. Don't just go at…
  • Billie...with all you have going on in your life, if would be to your advantage to take from it the very best: Bi-polar has a degree of intelligence and passion, ADHD; an attention to details. Summon up the best of yourself and move toward your goal (a healthier you). Exercise is movement. You can walk, swim, bike, etc.…
  • NEVER GIVE UP HOPE! Losing weight is like waling through a revolving door. A little step foward and a little back. Hopefully the back is just a little less. Whatever you do for yourself, it is a positive thing. Give yourself a pat on the back. Habits are hard to change, but knowing the process can help. Cue, Response,…
  • The hardest exercise I have EVER done was in the kitchen, controlling how much I ate. Getting to the gym has its advantages. Knowing you can get a GREAT workout by just eating healthy is also GREAT! Working out as much as we think we "should" can be a discouraging thing. Set the bar low...say three times a week you will…
