you may build to that top strength FASTER on a dedicated program, but if you're talking long term, CrossFit will get you to the same place or very very nearly close to it, with other benefits as well. Consider this. 2 identical people. One person does strict powerlifting training for 6 months, then stops and does strict…

I once had a girlfriend that loved my fat. I hated that. It made me very uncomfortable and insecure. Every time she would pull some "big teddy bear" *kitten* or something like that I would stop her and tell her cut that *kitten* out. It didn't last. My obesity is not something for me to be proud of.

Loving yourself doesn’t have to mean thinking everything about you is perfect. I’m happy with myself as a person, I hate the 100 pounds of fat clinging to my body. These aren’t mutually exclusive propositions. If you truly love yourself, you should want to be your best self. If you think your best self is thinner,…

I started losing weight because I saw a picture of myself and was disgusted. I’m down 45 pounds in 5 months and still going. Self-loathing is a great motivator for me.

I was a varsity swimmer in high school and stood at about 18-20% bf, I was almost perfectly neutrally buoyant. A deep breath would make me float, exhaling would make me sink like a rock.

If you’re trying to figure out a good “goal” weight, it’s an excellent place to start. As you get close you’ll have a better idea of how well it suits you. The “healthy weight” ranges are larger than people care to admit.

Anybody else do this, after going over target for the day redistribute the offending meal over the next day or two?

Every little bit helps. The more strength training you do now while you’re losing the less muscle you’ll lose as you diet. Your body most likely has an above average amount of muscle, just as a result of needing to carry around that extra weight 24/7. So anything you do to help keep that muscle will benefit you long term.

Hard to judge fully. Records are set by young guys, but it takes a tole on the body so it’s hard to keep getting progressively stronger for 10 or 20 years once you hit adulthood. Conversely, guys who start powerlifting later in adulthood usually already have injuries or malformations they have to overcome, so they’re…

I fly from Dallas to New York regularly, and usually pay between $150 and $300 round trip. That is dirt cheap. When somebody complains about how “expensive” it is to fly I generally just assume they don’t fly very often, either have no frame of reference for what flying normal costs, and/or buy their tickets at the worst…

I love how much time people on this website, which is ostensibly for people who think they're overweight and want to lose weight, spend trying to rationalize that they're not really fat, or that they don't really need to lose as much weight as they think they do. but...but..but...but We're fat. Deal with it. Put down the…

As someone who generally eats really low carb, I’ve learned a lesson or two about weight fluctuations. For example, carbs retain more water in your body than protein and fat. If you eat a higher % of carbs one day than usual, you can bet that your weight will be “up” for a day or two, until your carb balance levels back…

this is woo. do not listen to this person. there's no such thing as "starvation mode." The evolutionary "starvation mode" is to burn fat. I repeat. Your doctor wants to to lose so quickly because when you're "starving" your body will burn the easily accessible fat deposits around your internal organs first.

I found that working a late-evening protein shake into my calories really helped my late night cravings, especially if you get a shake that contains casein protein. Late night hungers was one of my biggest struggling points for a long time on my diet.

It's pretty debatable if a lifting only program will build strength better than CrossFit. Lots of powerlifters also do crossfit, and lots of CrossFiters are also competitive powerlifters. A significant portion of the CrossFit methodology is centered around improving ones ability at olympic lifts.

Yes, pander to delusion. That’s helpful.

Watching Broad City (a-mazing show btw) Also have a heat pack and stim on my left *kitten* cheek

this. this "healthy weight" BMI range is a full 25% difference from largest to smallest. That's huge. in this debate we also seem to ignore the fact, that if you grow up obese from childhood, you're going to develop thicker bones and more muscle, as a direct RESULT of your obesity. Not because of any genetic…

I use the UA Record app, which doesn't differentiate between lifting and resting. But I ignore the calories added anyways, unless it's for cardio.

Here in texas we have flavors tailored to a latino market, which is awesome. The lime-cherry is fantastic.

Can’t sleep because my glutes are killing me and every time I roll a little in bed it feels like I’m being stabbed in the *kitten* cheek with a needle. Just got up and foam rolled my butt a little, that helped a bit.

Sorry, but obesity is, itself, an illness. The very state of being obese it unhealthy. You can be overweight and have good blood work, be able to deadlift 500 pounds and run a marathon, but you’re still unhealthy and at a greater risk of a number of diseases than you would be if you were a healthy weight. As a person whose…

ProJym. Mint chocolate chip was underwhelming. Red Velvet Cheesecake is pretty good. Chocolate Mousse is awesome. Equal parts red velvet and chocolate mouse is next level god like.

this. I've been able to increase my target calories by 500 per day, without slowing my weight loss at all, just by cracking down on my entries.
-
yes it will. just gotta keep at it. you can do it!

you keep giving examples of things you consider sports or not sports. You haven't given a single example of any other person or authoritative body that agrees with your narrow definition of "sport"
-
Both are competitive, thus both qualify as sports You seem to be trying very hard to define what IS NOT a sport. I’m not sure why. Not complicated
