Do you have a go-to “good” meal?
When my diet has been slipping, or has slipped, I have a go-to meal I can count on to meet my requirements without too much effort or thinking. 1 chicken breast 1 whole avocado 1 cups veggies Depending on the weight of the chicken and avocado this whole meal is right at about 600 calories, with plenty of protein. How about…

Strengthening rotator cuff
Many, many years ago I dislocated both my shoulders. They've always given me problems. At one point I would nearly dislocate my right shoulder just reaching overhead. Now that I've been back lifting weights for a while I've hit a point with my overhead lifts where I can feel my right shoulder, the weaker one, start to move…

Are you brand-loyal? What to?
first off, if you wanna *kitten* on this thread with anti-consumerist nonsense or whatever, just shuffle off. Now. To what brands are you loyal? Me: Tommy Hilfiger - all of my suits and dress shirts Champion - almost all of my workout clothes, and increasing amount of casual stuff from the Todd Snyder + Champion…

How long should you lift before you take a break?
So I started lifting weights multiple times a week a little over 3 months ago, and have lifted at least 3 times a week since then. I started with a 4 week plan, then immediately rolled into a 12 week plan. I'm finishing week 9 of that plan this week, and I feel like I'm burned out. In that time I've lost over 30 pounds,…

Best alternative to back squats? No cage
My gym doesn't have a cage, only a smith machine, but it does have a lose barbell. The workout I'm following calls for back squats on 2 days, but the smith machine is worthless for that. So what do you think the best substitute is? I'm thinking front squats or goblet squats? Either can be done pretty safely without a cage,…

Diet friendly way to satisfy chocolate craving?
What are some good products that satisfy a chocolate craving? Obviously low-cal. Could be low-carb or low-fat. I've grown quite fond of the Atkins chocolate candies, the imitation M&Ms. Looking for other ideas. Bonus points for high-protein

Logging bacon?
I just fried 2 strips of bacon, then fried a chicken breast in the same pan. How would you log the additional fat from the bacon? I added 2tsp of "Animal fat, bacon grease" to my meal log. Does this seem reasonable?

How do I safely bring my calories back up?
I've realized that I'm probably not eating enough calories, and haven't been for a long time. The amount I'm losing doesn't come close to my deficit. I'm 6'0", 253 pounds. I was eating 1250 calories per day for the last 3 months, and working out a minimum of 30 minutes a day, but up to 2 hours a few days a week. Despite…

How do you control your micros?
I've gotten really good over the last few months of controlling my macronutrients, so I've moved on to trying to control my micros as well. But on a calorie restricted diet I'm finding it hard to get enough of certain micros. The vitamins are all a lock, but almost every day I'm either deficient in calcium or iron.

Long overdue introduction
Howdy, I've been using MFP consistently for almost 3 months now, figured I'd finally dive into the community and say hello. My name is Jon, this is my weight loss and overall fitness journey. I started tracking my weight about 2 months ago at 275 LBS and 45% body fat, the heaviest I've ever recorded myself. I'd been…
