  • Thank you.... I think a lot of it could be sodium. I do feel quite bloated. I also started eating sugar again this year after over a year of cutting it, not being mega strict about sugar in bread etc but avoiding obvious sources. I like the idea of preparing food in advance so I don't have to think about it. Last night I…
  • Hi, it's just the iPhone activity monitor... it must be linked to MFP, because the steps do show up, it's just that none of the calories are added to my total, although they used to be.
  • Hi, I have a similar problem. Usually if I'm alone I can handle it by having a piece of toast or dark choc, but my partner's eating habits are totally different to mine. He goes all day without eating because he doesn't get hungry, then eats all his calories for the day in one huge binge at night... and it can be anything…
  • Thanks, I might try that - sounds a good idea :) was so tempted to say stuff it today and overeat, but I kept a sane head and forced myself out for a run, even though it was the last thing I felt like! Feeling better and going to wait tlll Sunday for next weigh in, so that I don't drive myself crazy.
  • Thanks everyone! I was so much more forgiving of the fluctuations when I was losing, because I knew it was a slow process and was happy if it kept gradually going down. I'll stick with a 3-lb range and I'm still going to try to get another 2-3lb off. I had my main goal weight, which I knew I could be happy with in the long…
  • Hi, I have been in the same position as you and I know how frustrating it can be. I did a marathon in May and like you hoped to lose weight during training (aimed for same as you, .5 a week). My weight didn't budge either. Here are the lessons I learned. 1. Forget about trying to lose weight until after your race. Your…
  • Thanks everyone, that's really helped clear things up for me. I haven't been logging runs because assumed MFP step tracker would be enough, and it's good to know it will adjust for intensity etc. will add swimming though. I take it a Fitbit is the most accurate way to see how you're burning, though?
  • Thanks guys! My lovely helpful sister showed me the plus sign - duh, can't believe I didn't see it!
  • Hi everyone, thanks so much for your replies and encouraging comments. I know it was a bit of a strange question, but it's hard to view yourself objectively and I wanted to ask it in what is largely a supportive, safe forum, where it's ok to ask 'silly' questions. And yes, I get that I was putting my partner in an awkward…
  • It's not the label. It's at what point can I stop thinking of myself as chubby. And if I do keep thinking of myself as chubby, am I being silly.
  • Yeah, but there's honesty and there's brutal honesty! I don't want to be lied to, but something like 'You look great and you're doing really well, but you're not skinny' or something would have been fine. Even 'You're doing well but you still have a bit to go' would have been better than 'You are not a thin person' lol.
  • Thanks everyone! I'm probably getting too hung up on it. This time last year I would have been over the moon to be this weight and would definitely have felt thin if I'd suddenly dropped to it.
  • Yup! 9 stone 13 sounds so much better :D - totally psychological.
  • I'm 5ft 9-10 (never sure because been measured as both) and 10 stone 6. I want to get to 9 stone 13. My previous aim was 9 stone 7, for no reason apart from that was my weight before I had my 9 year old daughter, but I've realised that would be definitely be too thin and I would be happy to be just under 10 stone.
  • The thing is a lot of my friends and people I meet at races, sociable things etc are very good runners and many of them are extremely thin compared to most people, almost certainly underweight. I think I'm comparing myself to them. I can pinch a lot more than an inch lol!
  • Hi, I feel your pain, I only have 7lb to lose and have been stuck for months as well. It's really annoying! I exercise loads but it's the food that's a problem. I'm not consistent enough. In terms of weighing - I find it helpful to eat ready meals sometimes so you know exactly how many calories you're having. It's not the…
  • I'll open mine - I want friends with open diaries too! I don't log exercise though at the moment.
  • Oh yummy, the fruit salad with whipped cream sounds fantastic! I've done two things differently today and am feeling so much better. Firstly I reset my goals to lose half a pound a week so I get 1500 calories, but I ran 9 miles (over 1000ft climb) so I have eaten well over 2000 calories. I had my dinner at 8 and have just…
  • I don't log the exercise calories, because the app gives me extra calories by logging my steps anyway - do you think I should be adding the running as exercise on top of that? I know what you mean about it being difficult to manage calories when exercising so much. On my long run days once a week, I do 10-14 miles and end…
  • Hi everyone, thank you so much for your replies. I've actually upped my calories today, changed it to .5 pounds weight loss per week - got to be realistic, my weight hasn't shifted for months so obviously I was being unrealistic trying to stick to 1,200 calories a day and then getting demotivated. That's a great idea about…
  • Hi, I've lost a stone since I stopped taking them last August. You can definitely lose the weight. A stone over 5 months is very good - keep going! I'm slightly stuck at the moment but have less than a stone to lose now so I'm going to work hard at it and plan for it to be completely gone by Christmas.
  • Hi, my MFP app is strange, it doesn't have an option for adding exercise! Instead it counts my steps and doesn't differentiate between walking and running, for instance, so I'm probably not eating back exercise calories. Anyway - I usually do go over the count by 1-200 calories most days so that probably makes up for it.…
  • Thanks for the replies. Glad to know I'm not alone! I saved calories for a small bag of choc popcorn in the evening but I think today I'll try saving enough to have a boiled egg and slice of toast or something to fill me up more. I wish I could just drop off to sleep and ignore the hunger but it really keeps me awake until…
  • My iphone 5s has an inbuilt pedometer, which MFP links to. It's really cool, but I probably am majorly underestimating my exercise calories by not logging it and going by the step count. What I'm confused about is, is a step a step whether you're running or strolling? I just don't know if I really am only burning an extra…
  • Hi, thanks everyone, your comments have really helped - especially because I've just read them straight after having eaten a massive chocolate muffin someone brought in and handed me as a present since it's their leaving day. I felt like I couldn't say no and am now sitting nearly crying feeling like I want to turn back…
  • Hi, I did a 7-day juice fast (Juicemaster) in August and I lost 8lb, then lost another couple and haven't put it back on! It gave me the kick start I needed to really get going with healthy eating. I now have one more stone to lose but I felt fantastic after it. The first couple of days were tough, mainly because of…
