Jenepher, I agree and I'm so glad to hear someone else talk about this. I've tried explaining this to my husband before but he thinks I'm mad. I've never liked the idea of being "more acceptable" and being treated differently just because of my size. I've been both skinny and obese (currently obese and working on it). At…

Great work! You look wonderful.

You're so beautiful! Both before and after. I could only hope to have your shape when I'm done losing the weight I need to lose :)

Always ask for salads with extras on the side, meals with veges, stir fries, Subway subs for lunches on the go, fresh food takeaways wherever possible. I always look for the simpler meals on a menu so I can quickly evaluate how much is whole food and how much is processed. Choose whole food where possible!

I adore mushrooms too ... oyster mushrooms mostly. All I do is fry them up in a little bit of butter or toss them into a salad or wok fry them with other veges. The great thing about mushrooms is you can eat so many for so little cals and they fill you up so easily!

I'm 40 so I don't totally understand your position however wouldn't you just eat at a deficit if you have more weight to lose? You don't necessarily need to exercise in large amounts to lose weight is what I understand from tracking cals and all of the info on forum here.
-
No clue. I love chocolate but from tracking cals I now have a clear smack in the face from my cal tracker every time I choose to overindulge. So I don't now. That being said ... I love chocolate!! So much!! It just makes me happy to nibble a little. I used to eat a LOT late at night while I worked. BAD IDEA. I think the…

I find that too. After my evening walk I rarely feel like eating anything so I grab my beautiful teapot and brew up either a green tea or a ginger and lemon tea (Using real ginger and real lemon). Both help to keep my hands busy and keep away the cravings for lesser foods while I work a couple of hours in the evenings.…

I have the dreaded B belly however I use Nancy Ganz Shapewear (like spanx) and I think I will continue to use them even when I'm at my goal weight if my B belly still exists. Stops the wobble and flattens me out a bit!

I had my daughter at 36 yrs old so when my daughter starts school in 2016, I want to be the old, FIT mum waiting to collect her every day, NOT the old, FAT mum waiting to collect her and embarrassing her. Also, the more I exercise, the more I lose, the more I feel like I can go out and do active things with her like…

You write so beautifully and express your emotions so well. I'm so happy for your success! I came to MFP as an obese woman because I had a panic attack in an airplane toilet cause it was soooo hard to manoeuvre in those small spaces AND because I had to use an extension seatbelt for the first time ever. I said never again…

Hi there, The error when saving a new recipe or editing a recipe is back again. It says "Unable to continue, sync error please try again". I use an iPhone 5S and all apps are up to date.

If you're not averse to popping a pill when you have your period, try Naprogesic (Australian). They are amazing and get rid of cramping within 30 mins! Just get them over the counter at the chemist.
-
Yep, do it. Up until 5 weeks ago I hadn't exercised in over 6 years (at all!) and when I started using MFP I was determined to "do this thing" and do it without delay. I had delayed and procrastinated so much before. Anyhow, I was UNfit so I just walked half an hour, slowly, like an afternoon stroll to check out the…

Oh me too! I'm a DD but seriously can't wait til I'm back to my normal C. C is just right!

LOL. Terrific response. Like another poster said, don't make it your problem. OR you could mysteriously become one of those ppl who talk about nothing else but their weight loss, how great it is, how much weight you're losing and do it while talking fair over the top of the other guy. It will probably be so irritating to…

Following this thread so I can do the same!

Woo it's great! Working on down to a 10 again :)

At the end of the day, you can only control what you do. You can't control anything anyone else does. So do what you do that is good for yourself, cook one meal only (as suggested above) and if he doesn't like it, well, that's just too bad. Make good choices for your own mental and physical health. His issues are his if he…

The more good, healthy, nutritious foods you eat (that give your body what it needs to function at it's optimum level) the less it will crave unhealthy stuff. The self control thing - it can be done. You just need to get your head in the right place, remind yourself of your goals and WHY you're looking to get there. Then…

I drink 2 litres of water a day (that's 16 cups I think) and I had half an apple this afternoon and some steamed broccoli and cauliflower for dinner.
-
Where possible I try to go to bed early if I'm having cravings. Otherwise, I eat a small carrot to satisfy the urge to nibble. Usually works. Not a perfect system though unfortunately. The other way I get around my cravings most days is to remind myself how proud I will be if I beat it (rather than it beating me). If I eat…

Southern Tasmania here. Add me if you like :)

Well, the only thing that makes me stick to losing weight via the MFP method is to have my goal in mind. Firmly in mind. It's something I really want. It's something I really can't do without. Without a good reason to drive you, nothing will inspire willpower. Willpower is a decision made with a good reason.

Maybe they mean it as a compliment? Mum used to say to people that they'll "fade away to a shadow" and she never meant it meanly, just out of concern and a compliment that they look great just as they are now.
-
Me too. That's exactly how I'm thinking about it. Also, learning new ways to cook things that eliminate extra calories you can just do without. Like tonight, we had homemade chips and lamb chops with a large salad on the side. My chips and chops were cooked completely oil free (chops cooked in lemon juice), all the fat was…

Wow, Rude.

I'll add you :) I've been here 3 weeks now too.

I agree. It's taken me ages to get myself ready to stop eating crap every single day and start eating mindfully. In preparation over the last couple of months I've been thinking about the consequences in my life of being hugely overweight, for me, for my daughter, for my family etc. Mostly it's my 3 yr old daughter who is…
