That's a good point. I've thought about incorporating split squats at some point in the future. I'll definitely look into adding them sooner than later! Thank you :)

I might be an outlier, but I absolutely hate lunges and don't do them. Ever. For legs/core I do deadlifts, goblet squats, back squats, and hip thrusts. I don't feel like I'm missing out.

Yep. Check out Alan Thrall's YouTube channels. He's great at explaining how to do pretty much everything.

Wow completely amazing!! So glad I took the time to watch this inspiring story. Edit because I posted too soon.

Same. I only log my new lows in MFP but I weigh every day and log into Happy Scale.
-
I log everything, even days when I'm 4000+ calories. I like having the data to look back on to average my calories and burn with rate of loss, so I need to be accurate even when it hurts.

Hi, I'm 5"3 and my maintenance calories are 2400-2600 calories a day as of right now. I lift heavy 3x a week and get an average of 12,000 steps a day. I just went on a maintenance break a few weeks ago and maintained perfectly at this level. I will offer a disclaimer, though.. I'm 182 pounds right now and about 30 pounds…

I second the eggs and tuna suggesting. Where I live, canned tuna is like .70 cents a can and a dozen eggs are around a dollar.

I just made sautéed carrots with butter and dill as a side dish for dinner. Super delicious and fairly low calorie. I think my recipe came in at around 200 calories for a 205 gram serving.

I love it when my lats and pecs are sore. I've really been trying to focus on my upper body/back strength and it's starting to pay off! I'm not a huge fan of soreness from leg day.. as other posters have said, it makes things like using the bathroom interesting. I don't like struggling to get out of my car, which also…

I really like Bret Contreras. I do barbell hip thrusts every once in a while but usually deadlifts leave me gassed so I don't have much in the tank to do anything else on leg day after that! LOL I really do need to incorporate more of that, though. How long has it taken you to see results with doing those?
-
Maybe it's just me, but I am looking forward to telling people I lost 50 pounds without doing any intentional cardio. I started strength training about 5 weeks into my weight loss and I will never look back. I've done endless amounts of cardio before and yeah, I lost weight, but it wasn't getting me the results I wanted.…

I average about 13k steps in a day, and a lot of it comes from an after dinner walk my husband and I take. However, I will never ever count it as leg day. I do leg day once a week on Wednesday (because hump day, duh). I do 3 sets of goblet squats at 10,7, and 5 reps. Today it was 45, 55, and 65 lb Dumbbells. Then it's back…

I get crazy hangry about 3 days before my period. I just eat at maintenance for a couple of days and then once my period starts, the bottomless pit of hunger feeling goes away and I eat back down to my deficit.

I lift heavy 3x a week, and I track the "duration" from the time I start my first set until I finish my last set. I take 60-90 seconds of rest in between sets. I use MFPs estimate (it gives me about 180 calories for a 45 minute session) and according to my CICO data (tracked by fitbit, weighing/logging food, and daily…

@TonyB0588 lol see what I mean? I have a lot to learn lol

This is awesome! Lifting is my favorite thing. Aside from deadlifts, overhead press is my favorite compound lift. You'll see some awesome progress in your shoulders with that lift!! Proud of you for incorporating compound lifts! You'll never go back!

Love this thread. I'm actually trying to improve my veggie intake. I've started eating half an avocado in the mornings as part of breakfast so I had that today. I think that's it for my veggie intake lol. I have a ways to go.
-
You can add me if you'd like. I'm around 1800-1900 calories a day. I use protein powder and fiber powder to meet my goals but I don't do diet food or sugar free or fat free anything on purpose. I don't eat as many veggies as I would like but I'm working on improving that.

I don't get steak much when we're out, but I cook it twice a month at home. Either strip steak or top sirloin, seasoned with worcestershire and steak seasoning. Sear it in my cast iron pan and finish it in the oven with butter like @Emily3907. I eat mine medium rare and my husband has his medium.

@AigreDoux Thanks for the insight! I've read a lot of posts on here about people who do the calorie cycling where they eat less throughout the week and balance it out with higher calorie days over the weekend. That really appeals to me and it allows me to be flexible when going out with friends, celebrating, etc.

I'm coming up on my TOM and I always weigh, every day, unless I'm out of town. I use the app happyscale to track my trending weight so it's important for me to have good data; I know that I'll gain 2-5 pounds of water weight so it doesn't bother me too much. Usually by the 4th or 5th day of my period, the water weight has…

I got on the scale this morning and weighed the exact same as I did on Friday morning, which was my first day of the maintenance break. I think you're right, @jemhh, about my brain recovering faster than my body lol.

No worries, there are a lot of people (myself included) who are having sync issues. It will probably sort itself out over the next 24 hours.
-
I'm having the same issue. Mine hasn't synced since about 10 last night.

In my opinion, getting healthy is SOOO much easier when you have the support of your partner. My husband and I are each others biggest fans when we're in the zone and doing well, and our biggest enablers when we both had bad habits (cookie dough and Game of Thrones marathons LOL). Over the years we've realized that we are…

What's wrong with beef jerky? Sodium aside, it has lots of protein and is so tasty. Speaking of protein/sodium snacks, I love bringing pork rinds with me. It's got a crunch like popcorn but more protein.

My mother struggled (and still does) with her own food issues when I was growing up. There weren't really any strict rules enforced on my sister and me, but I always saw mom eating a big meal (later, I learned the only meal she ate for the day) and drinking a Diet Coke. She rarely cooked "real" food. It was mostly from…

OOH I don't think they had that kind but I will be on the lookout!!

Just do the damn thing and take the next couple of days off to recover. LOL Good luck!
