Bystander effect has been studdied fairly extensively.. the cause seems to be mostly a combination of diffusion of responsibility (there are a lot of people here... someone else will take care of the problem.. I'm not anyone who can really help and there must be someone else here who is), and a fear of getting involved…

If you are weighing your food.. have plenty of energy to rock your workouts, aren't hungry, over-tired, sleeping well and feel great... then I don't see a problem here. My guess is that if you are really buckling down on the types of food you are eating, you are filling up with foods that have a low calorie density, and…

Holding on to resentment... is much like drinking poison in hopes that your enemies will die from it. You CAN do this... fall in love with the process, and keep one eye on the prize.

I lived that way for a big chunk of my life.. gaining weight seemed pretty much an impossible task. If I forced myself to eat enough to gain weight, and deliberately skipped workouts... then I'd go up a few lb.. then drop back down the moment I started working out again. Then I got a desk job, stopped working out for 4…

Try different things.... Don't think about the effort, so much as what it will feel like to DO the thing, and go try it. If you had fun... do it again. Don't worry if your muscles are sore.. that goes away pretty soon... If you had fun the 2nd time.. then try it for a few more weeks. If you are still having fun.. you've…

My daughter's swim coach, last night, said something that rings true to me on this topic: "If you want it, you will always find a way. If not, you will always find an excuse." For me.. I think I see a lot of people (especially those just starting out) that aren't so much motivated to succeed, but are excited about the idea…

Had good walks yesterday... 2.5 miles with the dogs in the morning, 1.5 miles at lunch, then another 1.8 in the evening while my daughter was at swim practice... I really want to do more.. just hard to manage the schedule to make it happen!

Took only 1 bite of my daughter's muffin this morning... (quality control, you know) - to satisfy the urge without going overboard, so it wasn't stuck in my head all morning.
