  • Strawberries and blueberries (most berries for that matter) in small amounts (3-4 ounce servings) are usually considered to be low-carb. Most fruits do not have much fiber at all except avocado. They are called nature's candy for a reason. ;) Apples happen to be my personal favorite of all fruits. Alas, because they are so…
  • Why not use Heavy Whipping Cream (HWC) instead of milk? I do especially when I want low-carb cereal. You may also want to try using a 50/50 combination of HWC and nut milk...that would work too.
  • I prefer Guittard 91% Cacao Nocturne Extra Dark Chocolate, and although some of their chocolate contains soy, a lot of it doesn't like this bar. So if soy is an issue or concern for you, make sure to check the labels of whatever chocolate you go with because it is in everything nowadays!
  • Cheese sticks. Pork rinds. Jerky (beware the hidden carbs and sugars though). Baked Cheese snacks. Nuts or seeds of any kind. Hard-boiled eggs. Homemade protein bars, etc.
  • Just click on the link provided above in the thread and click the button to join the group. The Keto Flu is 100% avoidable and usually do to electrolyte imbalance (newbies never realize just how much salt their bodies really need). I was once be pre-diabetic myself (no longer am).

  • Oat Fiber 500 is a frankenfood just like Wheat Protein Isolate 5000 & 8000 are. It's something that man has tampered with. This means it has a bitter taste to it that you usually have to offset with a few drops of liquid sweetener of some kind. You do NOT want to use it as 1:1 substitution for any kind of flour replacement…
  • I had this same issue. For me it wasn't so much sodium which I was already getting plenty of but rather potassium.
  • If you use a 50/50 mixture of vanilla whey protein powder (or isolate) and wheat protein isolate (yes, I really did say wheat!) instead of nut flour, you will get a much crisper/crunchier cookie. Be aware though that many of the alternative flours used for low carb cooking cook faster than regular flours and can burn. They…
  • This is terrific news...congratulations on the awesome results of your half-assed keto!! ;) :)
  • High in fiber usually means high(er) carbs. Chia flour, coconut flour, psyllium husk powder, oat fiber 500...all high in fiber. NONE of these are a 1:1 replacement for flour. Other types of seeds and nuts can sometimes have a decent amount of fiber in them too: pepitas (pumpkin seeds), watermelon seeds, pine nuts, sweet…
  • Macadamia Nut Oil. Definitely pricey. I'd like to use it regularly myself but simply can't afford it. I usually bounce around between butter, lard, coconut oil or olive oil. I think one of our members posted a link to a chart of all the various cooking oils and how they compared to one another but I can't find the link. I…
  • My diary is open and I'm a Keto Lifer (now in my 4th year of eating this way). I try to cap my total carbs at 40 grams per day. My macros are currently 65% fat, 25% protein and 10% carbs, but then I'm also in maintenance.
  • Peak double cream yogurt (only available in the Northern California area right now). Quark whole fat German Style Cheese. Kite Hill brand (almond based) yogurt. Some of the goat-milk brand yogurts are pretty low in carbs per serving (I'm talking the unsweetened varieties here across the board). Red wood hill brand yogurt.…

  • Yep, have to agree with @AlexandraCarlyle ...for me personally, I noticed a correlation not so much with regard to the low carb, but definitely a distinct correlation to the increased protein!
  • I had a heck of a lot more gray hair before going Keto than I do now. Before, the gray patches were very easy to see. I still have some gray hair but I really have to look for it to find it so (guessing here) I'd say that following LCHF reduced my early gray hair by 80% easily!

  • Not being sarcastic here - ones that are low carb and contain acceptable sugar-substitutes that you body doesn't rebel against. Some are sweetened with Xylitol, others maltitol (boo, hiss), still others sucralose, etc. You've got things like Spry and Peelu, but there are a host of others.
  • I'm a Keto Lifer. I'm in my 4th year of following this WOE now. Have successfully eliminated 167 pounds. I see no reason to not keep doing what keeps working. No going back to the crappy SAD for me.
