  • I eschewed most fruit for many years, but recently, I've been allowing myself a little bit of fruit here and there - some of which would not be considered LC or Keto friendly. I keep those little boxes of raisins in the house because I occasionally get a craving for them. I like the fact that they are already portioned…
  • Re Catalina Crunch: my body can be really touchy when it comes to fiber. It generally doesn't like fiber at all...BUT...sometimes it tolerates fiber from different sources better than others. Currently there are usually 2 LC cereals that I eat - one of which is Catalina Crunch. My body doesn't seem to mind al the fiber so…

  • Funny you should mention 1200 calories. Lately, I've been on a One-Meal-A-Day (OMAD) kick wherein I fast most of the day and then consume most to all of my calories for dinner and I've been trying to stick close to 1200 calories. You can take a look at my diary as I've been pretty good lately about logging what I'm eating.…
  • I do supplement daily with Full Spectrum Vitamin K2 (InnovixLabs brand). I usually take 2 capsules a day - 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. 1 capsule = 600mcg (500 mcg of MK-4 as menantetranone & 100 mcg of MK-7 as menaquinone).
  • You can also use egg life foods wraps for even lower carb counts. https://egglifefoods.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiA65iBBhB-EiwAW253W50My_tR7odUVb1C0c5KQI2JzxlxSVSNR07nDUfOS4O0Uttx5QK1UBoCZFIQAvD_BwE
  • My guess...its probably the fiber content. Fiber does that to some people and no you don't need fiber for optimal "gut health." My body doesn't like too much fiber for the same reason!!
  • I don't like Carbalose flour because it contains unfermented soy. I recommend keto luna's keto flour recipe: http://ketotestkitchen.blogspot.com/p/experimental-keto-flour.html
  • Hard-boiled eggs freeze just fine with the exception that once thawed the egg-whites tend to be a little rubbery. Individually packaged cheese sticks don't require refrigeration. Also consider: pork rinds and individually packaged nuts and/or seeds.
  • Although I don't have IBS; however, it is very common to hear/read anecdotal stories like yours where eating some version of a low-carb diet either helps manage with medication, reduced problems or eliminates the problem altogether. Congrats on your NSV!!

  • I personally find that if I really want to suppress cravings to within an inch of their miserable lives, I do best going full-on carnivore keto for 3 days.
  • Berries are allowed in SMALL portions (2-4 ounces maybe - depending on the type of berry). For example strawberries have less carbs than blueberries. So just be aware of what you're eating. If it fits into your carb allotment for the day, go for it.
  • My mother has either diverticulosis or diverticulitis (I forget which) and she adds some to her LC cereal every day to help keep her from getting the runs so yeah, it works.
  • Go Carnivore Keto for 3 days. Also, for most people who don't have any underlying medical issues or conditions, It doesn't matter if you exceed your protein goal.
  • Great link...thanks for sharing!
  • How long have you been on this "plateau?"
  • Cramps are part of "Keto Flu" Symptoms. You can avoid all symptoms of Keto Flu by paying close attention to your electrolytes especially sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. My guess is that you are not getting enough salt.
  • When I want something cereal like, this is my go to: http://www.holdthecarbs.com/low-carb-hot-cereal?search=cereal I usually add oatmeal flavoring (https://www.oooflavors.com/products/oatmeal-flavor?variant=17031076101) - I forget how many drops I use because it's been a while since I last had some. Combine with your…
  • Here's another version for you: http://www.djfoodie.com/Chia-Fauxtmeal I made it once. My mother and I both tried it. Mom loved it. I didn't. (shrug) And pre-Keto I REALLY LOVED OATMEAL!!!! Have not found a decent fake for it yet.
  • @Sunny_Bunny_ ...Yes, I lost an entire person (167 pounds). Started dieting in either August or September of 2014 (I forget which). Didn't really find Keto until a month or two later (October 2014 maybe?). It took me 22.5 months to reach my goal weight. I switched over into weight maintenance around July of 2016. I…
  • Understood @Dragonwolf! Great insight!
  • Just an fyi, it may tale your body longer to find it's norm where cholesterol numbers are concerned like mine did. This is because our bodies have their own timelines for getting rid of the excess cholesterol that dieting release back into our systems. I mention this because what we tend to think of as a "long time" (e.g.…
  • Recipes sent to you via MFP email. I hope you enjoy them!
  • Yes, very likely what you are experiencing is connected to electrolyte imbalance and/or the precursors of "keto flu."
  • Yep, my favorite chocolate bar (that I don't have to make) is a 91% Guittard Nocturne bar. I don't have the recipes on me right now (I'm at work), but @403isaiah, if you send me an email through MFP, I'll send them to you.
