I'll be running a few half marathons this year, but my main goal will be to run a sub-19 minute 5K. I hope to run another marathon as well.

That's good to know. Burning fat for fuel is supposed to work really well for long distance running but I also want to improve my 5k times and I am not sure if I'll be able to keep a steady sprinting speed. But since it's the winter, I have a lot of time to work these things out.

I use Runtastic to track my runs and they have a 16-week marathon program put together by Dieter Baumann (Gold member feature). I used that to train for my first marathon. I set my goal to run it at in 3:30 so for the long runs were set by time, not distance. The max time for long runs was 3 hours so my mileage on those…
