Drink more liquids. That will take up some space in your stomach and make you feel full without compromising your calorie count, provided you aren’t drinking high calorie drinks. For the afternoon slump, try doing an activity if you are able. Whether it is exercising or spending some time on a hobby, I find it’s easier to…

I totally understand what you mean! Sounds like you are making good progress.

I enjoyed reading this thread quite a bit. I’m also a slow runner. And a slow walker, if I’m honest. Currently, I am working on getting back into running shape. I am using plans by Jenny Hadfield. C25k always felt like it progressed to quickly for my abilities. About 7-8 years and 40 fewer pounds ago, I was a regular…

I count calories and I try to hit my targets, but I don’t really think about it as CICO. If I want to eat something and it’s over my calories, I just make a choice about whether or not to eat it. I don’t then try to counteract it by exercising more. I either accept that I will be over calories, or choose to not eat the…

My understanding is that the goal of the keto diet is to eat low enough carbs that your body goes into ketosis, and therefore burns fat stores immediately rather than using glucose first. It’s supposed to be a quicker, more efficient way to lose fat. I have never used this approach myself, so apologies if that is…

This is me, as well. I make an effort to not eat substantially different, as in I don’t go out and buy things I normally wouldn’t eat. But, I definitely eat more during that time and if sometimes I don’t make great choices, I choose to just let it go and get back to better choices as soon as I am able.

I was curious about this, so I did a quick search. Try this. I’m interested to see if this works. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10471243/custom-barcodes

I’m 5’3”, 42 years old. My calorie target is something like 1720, but how much I eat varies anywhere from 1550-1850, depending on the day. I try to get close to my target, but if I’m hungry enough to go over (or not hungry enough to eat all my calories), I don’t stress about it too much. I try to simultaneously listen to…

Waffle fries are my go to shape, mostly because they are typically crispier than other fries. I eat mine with salt and pepper, or sometimes a bit of garlic. Never ketchup because it’s nasty, but occasionally I will dip them in honey mustard. Regular cut fries dipped into a chocolate frosty or milkshake are also delicious.

Maybe try a diet break? Eating at maintenance for a few weeks or a few months may help you regulate your hunger…get your body used to eating fewer calories, but more than you have been eating while in a deficit. To manage immediate hunger, I suggest lots of liquids. Water, broth (or soup), tea, coffee, smoothies, etc. it’s…

I am more of a last minute person. I will actually wait until dinner time before I even decide what I am cooking. Drives me crazy when my husband asks me at 2:00 what’s for dinner. I don’t know! I will decide when I am ready to cook! Lol! That said, a few years ago I attended one of those home parties where they sell you…

I am always most productive in my efforts during the fall. I manage ok through the winter. It’s spring and summer that trip me up. But, I also agree that you must be in the right headspace. It took me a few tries before I managed to get myself there. I actually did my restart on Oct 18. It worked out great because I am…

I would say Pilates, if you are going by the idea that one workout=one exercise.

I don’t have issues with hair loss, so take this how you will, but I notice that my body hair grows more slowly in the winter. No idea why that is or if it’s typical, but it’s been true for awhile now. Not sure if it was true when I was younger. But the older I get, the more thankful I am for having to devote less time to…

I was having a really hard time sticking to my calorie goals and seeing only minor losses which quickly disappeared. I started and stopped several times over the course of several months, but I just couldn’t seem to figure out how to stay motivated long enough for things to feel less difficult. So, I decided to try…

I think sleep is a pretty individual thing. Caffeine never seems to bother me, but I wouldn’t say I have a high caffeine intake, so maybe that’s why. I cannot exercise within a few hours or shower shortly before bed, though, because it will keep me awake. I save that stuff for the morning. Other people may find bathing…

Well, apple juice is going to have natural sugar in it, but if you are talking about added sugar…try Simple Truth brand. You can find it at Kroger (if you have one near you). You can also look for apple juice concentrate in the frozen section. Just check the label to see if there is added sugar. That will also give you the…

I am not a fan of vegetables either. I used to really feel bad about not eating more of them, but the older I get the less I care about that. I’m in my early 40’s, and if I haven’t learned to like a certain vegetable by now, I have accepted that it’s not likely to happen. I eat the few that I enjoy and forget the rest. I…

I honestly just think it is a matter of personal preference. I have an older garmin and an older Fitbit, neither of which I use. I liked the garmin when I ran, but that was years ago before I had a smart phone. The Fitbit was never my thing. It never seemed to work right and it was more annoying than anything, since I was…

I don’t count lettuce if it’s on a sandwich or something, but I do if I am eating a salad. I don’t count tea, but I do count the half and half I put in it. I never count spices unless I am using the recipe builder, then I include them in the recipe. I am also not 100% precise when weighing things. As in, I might log…

I am not clear on how your deficit has changed if you have not updated your weight in the app, but I just wanted to add that you can manually adjust your calorie target in the app. Go to goals, then under nutrition goals you can choose the first option to manually adjust your calories and/or macro ratios.

I have done the daily weighing thing in the past. I have also done weekly weighs, and daily weighs while only logging the weight once a week. All have been helpful (or not) depending on my state of mind at the time. Currently, I am trying a monthly schedule for weighing. I am undecided on how well it will work over time,…

It could be interference from something else. My food scale goes crazy when my microwave is running. Otherwise it is fine. I don’t know the reason, nor do I care. I just accept it and don’t use them both at the same time.

I highly recommend a hobby, if you don't have one. Something you can do that will keep your mind busy (and maybe your hands), but is not a huge mental effort. Maybe try a few different things that have interested you, but felt you haven't had time for in the past. Read, play cards, do a puzzle, knit, paint, write in a…

I will be watching your progress. I had not heard of this program before, but I love reading about other people’s experiences with different running programs. It’s been awhile since I’ve run. I am focusing on strength and general fitness at the moment, but I always have it in the back of my mind to get back into running…

I think the mental aspects of weight management is something that does not receive enough attention. It can be difficult to get yourself into a head space that is conducive to weight loss. And once you are there, it can be hard to stay there. And this varies by person because we all have our own past experiences and the…

It is USA, and “use-by” for those wanting clarification. And thanks! That info from the USDA is helpful, @AnnPT77. I never thought to look in that site! ☺️ Edited to add: The kind I bought is from the refrigerated section, not shelf stable. I used it twice yesterday and didn’t notice any weirdness so I guess it’s fine for…

I use almond coffee creamer. It’s not bad, but it did take some getting used to.

When I need a recipe for something I tend to use a search engine and then browse a few recipes to see which one sounds both yummy and easy to make. That said, I do like this one: simplyrecipes.com This is where I found the best banana bread recipe in the world. It’s delicious and one of the easiest things to make because…
