Wow, I'm 60, WFPB (usually!), lost 28 lbs, maintaining but also maybe looking to lose a few more. We sound almost like twins, lol. Sending you a request.

Welcome! Dogs can be great exercise partners!

Welcome! I've learned a lot on here, just by logging for different nutrients. It helps to read a lot of nutrition articles, too--Just google whatever questions you have. If you don't try to eat too low- calorie, and you aim for a nutritious diet, this is all way more sustainable.

Yes, me!

For me, the easiest way to navigate it is using my laptop instead of my phone. Welcome!

Welcome! I'm a couple of states over and mostly maintaining, but if you're looking for friends on here, feel free to send me a request!

That's fabulous! I'm 60 and have been working at losing and maintaining a 28-lb loss for over 6 years. This isn't easy at any age, but I feel like there's some extra challenge at our age- Congratulations!

I'm 6o and will add both of you!

Eating at least 5 servings of fruit and veggies a day goes a long way toward sufficient potassium consumption. Squash, including zucchini, potatoes of all kinds, and mushrooms are surprise potassium stars, but not the only good choices. My suspicion is that Americans are not getting enough potassium in general because so…

60 and still hanging in here maintaining. Feel free to send me a friend request if you like posting and chatting a lot. I'll be here forever.

Everything I have read suggests Americans at least are woefully deficient in potassium, and it is important! But I agree with callsitlikeise...that you should check with a dr. before taking potassium supplements. They can be problematic, and it's generally better to eat veggies that are high in potassium; this time of…

Well, you came to the right place! Welcome!

Shock is probably what brings most of us here. I was about your age when I got here, 60 now and maintaining. Sending you a friend request!

Hi! This is a great place to hang out!

You don't mention whole grains. That's what I'd suggest if you are trying to stay low fat and avoiding nuts. Or even if you are eating nuts. I eat wfpb for the most part, but I do drink Silk unsweetened soy milk. Not sure if it's technically wfpb or not, but it tastes just like what I remember milk tasted like, if that…

I'm not from SA, and I'm old, but I am vegetarian. Feel free to send me a request if you are an active friend!

Welcome! Have you ever checked with a doctor to find out why exertion is making you sick? It would be best to get medical approval before starting a new exercise program if you have some issues. That said, lots of folks here start out with very gentle exercise until they build up their stamina.

This is what I've been obsessing on lately: Garbanzo Salad 15 ounce, Garbanzo Beans, Canned, mashed 2 tbsp Mayo (regular or vegan) 40 g, Sweet Onion, chopped 1 tablespoon, Lemon Juice 1 T, sweet pickle relish 0.50 tsp, Garlic Powder 0.50 tsp(s), Tamari or soy sauce 0.50 Tsp (5g), Dijon Mustard or other coarse grain mustard…

I love eggplant; I've got to try this!

You *should* be proud of yourself. You're actually losing at a very good clip, and before long, you will be really noticing the difference. I know it's hard to be patient, but you are really on the right track, and looking back you will probably be surprised at how quickly you changed.

Hey, sending you a friend request. I'm a 60 year old mostly vegan (I cheat on eggs and dairy on occasion but normally eat vegan whole foods plant based). I lost most of my weight her 6 years ago but think as my figure changes I'd better take a little more off, and also I just like the company here!
-
Sent you a friend request. I'm veg too and raised my now-grown kids vegetarian, too!
-
Change what you can is all I can think of. I'm 60, so certainly dealing with the mirror issues. As for losing weight, log on here, stick to your plan, make some friends for sharing support, and hopefully you will start to feel better.

Dave's Killer bread *is* good, but if you want less sugar, Natural Grocers sprouted legume bread is one of my favorites, and Ezekiel Bread is really good quality. Read ingredients, avoid high fructose corn syrup, look for whole grains, etc. Whole grain bread is a great addition to a healthy diet.
