How come you have not addressed the issue about your eating disordered patterns? You need to be REAL and TRUTHFUL to yourself before you can accomplish anything else. Until you can recognize the real issues surrounding food and your body issues, nothing will change. Get real with and for yourself.

So let me get this straight - five pounds of muscle weighs more than five pounds of fat? Is that how physics works, ORRR do they weigh exactly the same amount regardless of their density, mass, etc? Please stop the "muscle weighs more than fat" thinking. It's just bad math and science.

Count me in! I'm also looking for some folks to keep me motivated!

I agree with this. I experienced pretty deep depression for years, all masked, until last year when the dam finally burst and I ended up in a therapist's office. I gained a lot of weight due to eating more and quitting exercising. I am so much better now (and without needing medication) that I'm back to exercising and…

I've never tried any fad diets because that's exactly what they are, fads. However, I did try a modified paleo "eating style", which meant no wheat (gluten) or grains. I got to eat what I wanted (portion control) as long as it wasn't a grain, bean or contain gluten. I lost 20 lbs in three months, with moderate exercise,…

Thank you. :) That's exactly what I intended - honesty. We HAVE to be honest with ourselves and each other, when honesty calls for it. Defensive posturing is a way to ward off the truth that is right there, but unrecognizable.

I agree. So much positive can and does result when we decide to "get real" with ourselves and see ourselves for who we really are. Change won't happen until then, either.

Oh, I totally agree I am in no position to judge or diagnose. It was just a thought I had :) But, I'm a mom and I worry about women your age when they start to obsess over calories. I have an 18 year old daughter who dropped a lot of weight in a short period of time because she wasn't eating enough. I recognized the signs…

Plain Greek yogurt with honey, pecans and blueberries makes a wonderful breakfast meal and is chock full of protein and calcium. Coconut milk is lower in fat than cow's milk (which I don't drink anyways) but higher in nutrients. And, I am of the belief that eggs are GOOD for you, so I will have a couple fried eggs on…

I said I wasn't trying to be mean but your reaction clearly says you are defensive about hearing the POSSIBILITY of an eating disorder. No, you aren't eating enough. I can find a million different ways to get my calorie count to 1200, without even trying, and by eating strictly "healthy" food. To say you "can't do it" is a…

It isn't my intention to be mean here, but what I am gonna say will come across as such. You don't need a better eating plan, you need a therapist to help you find out why you are purposefully not eating the right amount and types of food. It sounds like you have food issues in general.

We made black bean and buffalo chili yesterday that was absolutely delicious and only 390 calories per 1.5 cups. I had only a cup and it filled me up for hours. Here's the recipe. For an added touch, zest some lime rind into sour cream and add a teaspoon or tablespoon onto the top of your chili. It adds wonderful tart…

But what if she's asking about a cup of heavy water? Diet water? Big differences here, folks.

I could use more friends. And, you know you want to add me, so just do it. ;)

Hello, everyone! I just turned 50 last October. I had been managing my weight very well for a few years, right up until August 31, 2013. That's the day my dad died. Which was followed up with my mother's death in January, 2014, losing my teaching job, then my brother's death in June 2014. Last year, needless to say, was a…
