Everyone becomes a nutrition when you tell them you're vegan/vegetarian. Like OH MY STARS, what about protein!!!??? And that's ridiculous. I say don't ask me about my protein and I won't ask you about your cholesterol.

I was saying I agree that if you're worried about what you're eating, and taking time to take care of yourself, you should take care of your kids too. I'm not judging. But you can't help but make assumptions when you see stuff, at least I can't, I'm not perfect. I have 2 kids and one on the way, I'm not being some…

I've been a vegetarian for two years and recently decided to go vegan. I told my doctor that I was going full vegan and they barely responded. I was worried because I'm pregnant and brought up worrying about b12 and they said the same thing. She was super supportive of the switch and said I'd get everything me and the baby…

I never mentioned red dye 5, but agreed with someone about artificial colors being unhealthy. And npr.org came up first when I googled 'what are artificial colors made of' “Artificial food dyes are made from petroleum and approved for use by the FDA to enhance the color of processed foods.”…

I do buy my own food. My grocery cart usually contains one ingredient foods and I don't have to worry about it because I'm not buying foods that contain those chemicals. I don't have to constantly check labels because I buy foods that I've already deemed healthy (to my personal preference). You asked to be provided with…

What? Your question makes it sound like I said all deformities are linked to food. I was referencing a post I already made about BOV being linked to hearing loss and birth defects.
-
How many need to be listed before it's socially acceptable to worry about what's in your food? How many are ok? Does it just have to do with how they affect you? I kind of feel like not having deformed babies is important. Call me crazy

Because the FDA is a sham and health related issues like food should be run by the cdc? I don't know. But it's banned in other countries, along with other artificial dyes like yellow 6 that are also known carcinogens. You can google it. Today most artificial colors are also made from coal tar. Yum!

BVO is linked to growth defects and hearing loss and is in a lot of citrus flavored soda. That's the first that comes to mind. I would consider that to be toxic. I realize there are 'toxic' substances in all food. Even natural food, even water. But there are some that I personally would consider more dangerous than others.…

I just wanted to say that I agree with op so much. I have two kids and one on the way. I like to think that I give them healthy stuff -I mean, I'm sure no one wants to think they give their kid crap lol, but I spend a considerable amount of time on their nutrition. I want them to be healthy and have healthy eating habits…

But there are ingredients we use in the U.S. that are banned in other countries because they've been proven harmful. Does it really make someone a hypochondriac to say 'I don't want to eat that' or 'that is an unhealthy food' simply because it contains known carcinogens, or other toxic chemicals (or ermagerd chemicalz). I…

They don't have other ingredients than what is labeled. I know a lot of brands of organic bread that have very short ingredient lists. So I think that as long as you're mindful, and check, you know what you're getting.

That's pretty much how I do it too. And I am surprised by how many people care! I just signed up to mfp, and want to learn more about nutrition and whatnot, it's interesting to me. But then this thread is insane and I'm wondering if I'm in over my head here lol. It's fun to read though, like a car crash

I agree with the posters saying that it's a personal preference. I worry a lot about ingredients in food. A lot of processed food has ingredients that I'm not comfortable eating; artificial colors, a lot of chemical additives, gmo soy, refined sugar, saturated fat, stuff like that I would consider junk food. If I got 'junk…

Hello! I'm brand new to mfp. A vegetarian for two years but it is one of my new year's resolutions to go vegan. That's part of why I signed up; I'm pregnant and trying to switch to vegan, wanting to make sure I'm hitting all my nutrition needs (and slow down the weight gain lol).
