Maybe wear it a bit tighter?

I vacillate between eating and not eating my exercise calories. I have MFP set to lightly active and I still earn 200-600 more calories per day depending on activity. Do I eat them all? Sometimes. This week I really tried to stick closer to my regular allotted 1400 calories and not eat too much of my exercise calories and…

You have to check your stride length in the settings. It doesn't have GPS. It calculates distance based on steps counted and multiplies that by your stride length.

You are in the right place! When monitoring your calorie intake, it can get discouraging and lonely. Not so with your friends here online! Seeing their daily posts, seeing their food journals, their ups and downs and their exercise, (or lack of) keeps it real. We are living life, not being perfect. My weight loss is a…

Wow, I really didn't think I was under eating! I always thought that exercise calories were optional to eat. I will go ahead and try eating the full amount and see what happens.
-
Nancy, you make a good point on the small grazing. I am going to really tighten down on it and start weighing things more. I also think my sodium intake might be too high.
-
I already set my stride, but I will check it again. Looking at my food log, I averaged around 1500-1600 calories consumed per day. I don't think I am under eating. Here is my weekly stats. 8200 calorie deficit.
-
I do not log any other activity other than what my Fitbit detects. I tend to only walk as my exercise. I have been flat for about two weeks now.
-
Yes. You burn a certain amount of calories just by being alive, plus the ones burned via movement. As long as you keep a 500 calorie deficit, you will lose.
-
I keep those calories as a buffer. If I am super hungry, I eat them. If I can go without, I do.
-
If you log exercise on MFP, Fitbit will back out those calories. I do not log exercise at all on MFP, I just let fitbit do all the work. This works for me since I do all step based exercise. If you swim, or cycle, for example you would definitely want to log that. From what I have heard the food database in fitbit is not…

I have the fitbit Charge HR. I really like the heart rate monitoring because it feel it gives me a more accurate estimate of calorie burn when I am exercising. It works best with step based activities. I also like the display right on my wrist. I can see my stats without having to look at my phone. Also it vibrates when…
-
I took a look and I do not have that listed under preferences. Maybe the HR is different?
-
I would ignore the Fitbit goal and go with MFP. As you use your Fitbit for a few days you will start to see calorie adjustments and it will give you a much more accurate idea of how many calories you are burning and you can adjust your calorie intake accordingly.
-
I wavered between the two myself and I went with the HR. I like having the display on the device. With the Flex you can only see stats on your phone. Surprisingly, that makes a difference.
-
You make a good point. I hadn't thought of it like that. I will up my calories this week and see what happens. :)
-
I love mine too. The only thing I have found to not be very accurate is the stairs climbed. I live in a two story house and it is hit and miss if it counts the stair trip. It also will count stairs climbed if you walk up a hill. Other than that I live all the data, especially heart rate and calories burned. I feel it's…

I use map my run and while it doesn't double log in MFP, it did in the fitbit app. Thus I disconnected it from MFP and just rely on my fitbit. With the HR monitoring, it gives a more accurate calorie burn anyway. I just use map my run to time my mile pace.

I guess what I am asking is if I have set my calories too low. According to my current height and weight, MFP says I should be eating around 1900 calories. I set mine to 1400 because I went to a weight loss clinic that said to stick to 1200 but that seemed kind of low. I just want to make sure I am losing but also staying…

I have read that the screens can get scratches. Mine has one already too.

I have heard that un synching it then resynching works. Haven't had any issues with mine.

I just got my charge HR and my net calories today is-29. (I still need to eat one more small meal) I have apparently burned over 900 extra calories. I usually target eating 1200-1400 calories but maybe this is too few? I have my setting as lightly active.
-
Just got my charge HR on Friday. I am motivated to hit my 10K steps every day! Add me. https://www.fitbit.com/user/36D3PQ

I have a note 4 and everything seems to be working ok.

How do you add Fitbit friends? Just got mine yesterday.

Just got my Fitbit yesterday. How do I add friends from the forum with just their user id?
-
My new Fitbit arrives today and I can't wait. I have about the same to lose. I will friend you. :)

I have anxiety and have felt much better since joining MFP and walking almost daily. Sometimes when I feel it coming on, I walk as fast as I can and it burns off that energy. Exercise really helps!
-
I have bad knees, so I walk as much as I can. It has really helped with my weight loss so far. Welcome!

I am a mom of two and I know how easy it is to neglect ourselves and focus on our kids. You got this!
