  • Huh. I'm surprised to hear that bonniejo. Thanks for the perspective. Ill try to shift my head a bit.
  • That is so awesome!!! Congrats on your commitment! You might want to check out any of the books written by Jeff Galloway - he describes a method called the run walk method- I did it to learn to run marathons, but you can do it just to learn to pick up the pace. He's been around a long time so you could probably find a book…
  • can you help me understand why such a big deficit? MFP gives me 1220 cal a day. At 500 cal deficit, I would only be eating 720 cal?
  • I'm not a photos girl. I cook and if it's good, I eat:). Tonight I made potato leek soup with bacon. Takes about 30 minutes from start to finish; under 400 cal per serving.
  • I've been on and off coffee a few times; the last time i was caffeine free for about 3 years. I now let myself have 1 1/2 cups of coffee in the morning, and I drink herbal tea ALL DAY LONG - I'm actually making a pot in my office right now. If I'm really dragging in the afternoon, and an apple or orange doesn't help me…
  • I'm in the Taconics, but work in the Berkshires:) all indoor workouts this time of year, unless I'm snowshoeing, snow shoveling, or chopping wood:)
  • one kind of different thought - how are you eating and drinking? Are you getting enough calories? Are you drinking enough water? How about protein - enough of that? I find that my cravings only come when I'm not staying on top of these 3 things. Might be worth thinking about to fight off future cravings...
  • I take lots of measurements in addition to weight; waist, hips, each thigh, calves, biceps, chest and underboobs. I usually notice on weeks when I haven't dropped weight, it's likely I've lost inches. Lost inches usually means muscle gain. Maybe if you start tracking this too you'll see some tangible results, even if the…
  • I don't think you should feel guilty - you should do what is right for YOUR body - no one else's. For me, I work out 6 days a weel; 4 days a week for at least 30 minutes; 2 days a week of 10-20 minutes of stretching, yoga etc. 1 day a week of doing nothing I don't feel like. I don't do this because I'm so crazy committed,…
  • Many people have nightmare health experiences with advocare. If you are having great results, that's awesome, but it would be good for anyone interested to do research and decide if the health risks are worth it to them.
  • I am probably most similar to you. 36; 5'6; started at 147 lbs. I was a fitness model during my early and mid twenties; got married; got injured; moved out of the city and gained all this weight. Before a photoshoot I would typically weigh 113-114. Weigh too small/not achievable/not compatible with a healthy, well rounded…
  • i can only comment on the energy - but I've found that if I'm exhausted, consistently, after working out it means that I'm overtraining. When I train the 'right' amount I do feel energized for the rest of the day. When I push myself too hard (which I used to do all the time) I was exhausted. I might try easing up on your…
  • this is exactly my point of view. Why would I want to learn made up points, when I could choose to learn enough about healthy eating to be able to eat healthfully long after a diet program is over? If WW works for you, that's amazing! Whatever works is great in my book. That said, I'd rather learn the real stuff, than some…
  • / Can you see my recipes? I'm not sure how to make that visible. I just made curried sweet potatoes, and my husband who hates sweet potatoes even liked them. I think the recipe came from cooking light if that helps.
  • I see a really big difference too. I've heard it really common for folks losing a lot of weight to not see the slimmer version of themselves. You might try what my sister suggeted to me - take a photo of yourself, as naked as you're willing to do it, in a way you can easily reproduce the photo. Then once every 2-3 months,…
  • I workout harder on the weekends so that I can eat more of what I want - this morning I had pancakes with bacon - but I worked my butt off so it will still be in my calorie range for the day:)
  • definitely speak to your dr - but here are things to consider - Did you have more caffeine than normal? Coffee, tea, soda, chocolate, antihistamine/decongestants, diet pills? Any of this if more than your 'normal' could give you that unpleasant heart experience. Something to consider....
  • I workout a t home and also at my office, so this is the majority of my workout. I use fitstar. It's amazing!!!! I've lost 7 inches in 2 weeks.
  • Guess I can change nothing about what I'm currently doing AND lose my 18 pounds since I've lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks and 7 inches.
  • i need to count something, but it's compeletely inaccurate to count flour when i throw away the majority of it. looking for guidance on how to manage.
  • Oh - one other thing - buying local, humanely raised animal products means I eat less of it, but a larger variety. It costs more to raise animals with a conscience - which means my wallet makes me cut back. I'm ok with that. The history of our country has only in the last 50 years or so become so meat centric. 'A chicken…
  • You might want to read The Omnivore's Dilemma - fantastic book! For me, it freed me from feeling guilty about eating meat - though that might not be the reaction everyone has. Instead, I am mindful of the meat I eat, where it comes from and how it lived/died. I do my best to buy all of my animal products locally, or to…
  • I don't think my meals are $1, but they're pretty cheap. Corn chowder with bacon and potatoes spaghetti squash casserole, roast chicken, followed by chicken noodle soup from the same carcass, turkey cannellini bean chili, that's what comes to mind first.... My meals are less than $4/person, but not sure how low they go:)
  • I'm a huge animal lover- actually owned a pet health company for a time, but I'm allergic to most legumes. Meat is my best protein source. I live in a rural area and buy from farmers I know. Nothing wrong with that.
  • It all depends on the brand too- I absolutely love so delicious coconut milk vanilla; very different than the canned coconut milk with all the fat which is really great for smoothies, but not for every day!
  • Not suggesting you try this - that's up to you - but I thought it might be an explanation of why you are eating so little and still not hungry.
  • Have you looked into the 5 2 diet program? I haven't done it, but was reading about it inascience journal last week. You eat 'normally' for 5 days, and 2 days a week you do mini fasts- not eating for 15-18 hours (early dinner, nothing else, and then a late breakfast) on the mini fast days you only eat 500 to 600 cal. The…
  • thank you ladies for your comments! Still figuring out how to add friends through the ipad app - i'm not finding it easily. And sorry for the delayed response - didn't see yours until now. Getting the hang of this thing again.... a lot has changed since I last tried this tool
  • I know you'll roll your eyes, but I LOVE kale chips. So easy and salty when I'm trying to avoid potato chips
