  • nothing wrong with porridge if you like it. I eat oatmeal every morning, and my carbs are rarely over 50% - typcially only if i built in sweets like cupcakes for the day.
  • Very good point. I'm lucky in that I'm an hourglass body type so I gain and lose weight proportionally. Also the clothes you wear. I still wear my 'fat pants' because they're comfortable, but they are now 4 sizes too big. When I put on a skirt that fits though, sha ZAAM! If you're still wearing the same colthes, but they…
  • ^^^ this. before TOM I WILL need to eat more food. I allow myself to eat at maintenance if I want. No harm done.
  • It looks like you are now modifying what you originally said. You stated alternative for pizza, NOT take out pizza. Why the modification? I don't eat take out pizza, or take out anything else. I cook all my meals. - Not that cooking is required to lose weight, it's not. But please don't generalize in a way you didn't…
  • I have very small bone structure and somewhere around 5-7 pounds was noticable on me. I'm 37, starting weight 148, CW: 135, GW: 130; I've dropped 4 sizes. I'm 5'6"
  • if you use the recipe importer tool, it will take you directly to the page where you found the recipe online....
  • check out skinnytaste.com or cooking light - lots of great options. This week's dinners (and leftovers) in my house are: quinoa spaghetti with meat sauce spaghetti squash casserole spicy corn chowder Ginger beef stew Roasted chicken, cauliflower and grape tomatoes with rosemary Last week I also made chicken pot pie soup…
  • Not trying to be a hater - the point I'm trying to make is more that I don't think it 'works' to not eat foods that you miss. If you're cutting foods you love out of your diet, ultimately, you'll binge and then be disappointed in yourself. I'm sure what you've made is very tasty, but my point is that I don't think this…
  • I'm wearing my 'skinny' jeans. - The jeans I last wore about 4 years ago, the last time I was in decently good shape!
  • Stop dieting. If you see this as a diet you will quit when you reach goal weight, you will always gain the weight back. If you are truly committed to a different way of interacting with food, then you will be successful. You'll quit worrying about a certain deadline, because there is no deadline - just the rest of your…
  • I deal with chronic fatigue caused by chronic Lyme disease. Which for me means, that I can't do consistent exercise. So I don't focus on that. I focus on diet. I've lost over 12 pounds in then last 9 weeks, and I only had 18 total pounds to lose. I have found it helpful at other times to focus on trying to be active for 15…
  • 37; down 12 pounds and 4 sizes in 9 weeks. My husband is a chef, and I now cook all our food. We love food- nothing is off limits, I just fit in my cals.
  • At the wedding it was gluten free and vegan, or so I'm told. I wasn't there:)
  • If you miss pizza, why not have pizza? I make pizza with store bought fresh dough for between 200-300 a slice of a 6 slice pizza depending on the toppings. At so low a cal count, why not have the real thing?
  • I use frozen chicken all the time because I buy family packs at cheaper cost, and then split into frees able portions I wanttocookwith. Never had themberubbery- and hubby is a chef- he would tell if they were. I think rubbery happens from over cooking or freezer burn, not from proper freezing.
  • I tsp olive oil 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar Juice of 1/2 lemon Salt, pepper and herbs that you like
  • I live with a wonderful chef too - he does high ends events - even did Chelsea Clinton's wedding. That's just an excuse to get in your way though. Though I've NEVER cooked for us in the 12 years we've lived together, I am now. Ive taken over all our cooking and he's letting me. As the result I've lost 12 pounds in 9 weeks.…
  • I completely disagree. In 9 weeks I have dropped 4 clothing sizes. I only had 18 pounds total to lose, and I've lost 12. There is a HUGE change in my body. I am not exercising, only dieting.
  • 5-6 pounds away... Not changing anything yet- just trying to think it out.
  • I'm thinking about going back to 1240-50 a day and maybe increasing by 50 cal a day for a week, and then another 50 the following etc...
  • Heron- I see now and yes I misunderstood- thank you for clarifying:) -priya- I struggle with chronic Lyme disease so I'm not doing any exercise currently- I do exercise as I'm able, but i can have periods of 3-6 weeks when I'm not able to do much. Which means my success is 100% about diet. I used MFPs guidelines to set…
  • Just a thought- some people do intermittent fasting, or high days and low days. Totally reasonable way to go about this weight loss thing. Though I'm not an IFer, I do have days that show as maybe 700-800 calories - 2 reasons- I usually don't eat more than 1/2 of exercise calories back, I also have days that are 200-400…
  • How about the man who wants to belittle others for looking for encouragement on a forum that is all about looking for encouragement? Thank you to those of you who have offered a little pat on the back. That's all I was looking for. No more or less than others on here. No drama- just encouragement- the same things others…
  • I track calories every 7 days, not daily. Allows for high and low days. Works better for me. Feel free to check my diary. I had pie, ice cream and bacon today; 12 of 18 pounds lost in 9 weeks.
  • We do eat meat, but are trying to build in a couple of vegetarian options every week. It seems most recipes have beans or nuts and since I'm not a practicing vegetarian, I don't know enough to figure out other options. Looking for ideas... Your dish sounds amazing but pesto has pine nuts... So... Can't have those....
  • this board is about acknowledging your own successes, and about having the support of the group in those successes. I was pretty bummed out that 500+ people looked and only 2 cared to say 'nice job'. That's not me being bitter, that's me noticing that apparently my successes are not seen as worthy of congratulations by…
  • This was such a major achievement for me. Pretty bummed that only 2 people here cared to give me some support. Wow. Thought this group of over 500 people who viewed were nicer than that. Guess you have to have a huge amount to lose in order for your success to be valid.
  • Bump. Please help. I'm really struggling to find some dishes.
  • Sounds like you're doing awesome things for yourself! Congratulations! Wanted to make sure that you know that exercise has nothing to do with weight loss though. I think some people feel like if they're killing themselves in the gym, they should lose weight faster. This isn't true. It's all about being in a calorie…
